Impossible to decide who has the loveliest walk, Anna Bayle, Iman, or Dalma -- fortunately we have the pleasure of enjoying all three here; and Christy's so beautiful as the bride, and Naomi still a blushing ingenue when kissed by the designer at the end -- ty for these new uploads, more please!
Call me old but this is what a fashion show is supposed to be in my mind. This is how a model struts the catwalk. And It was driving me crazy! That's Dionne Warwick singing, "you belong in my arms".
Absolutely agree. Models looked beautiful and presented the clothing beautifully . The runway shows today have models looking angry, weird, bored , and hungry.
@@deegeorge5711 models didn't just wear the clothing, they interpreted the designs. Models in the day were stunning! Dalma, Billie, Anna and Iman are my Faves!
I totally am NOT a fan of the way runway shows of today are presented. The way this show was presented is how I wish shows today would be like. Complete with the bride at the end. Miss this way of show presentation. ☹️
Nice rare footage, look at how slow they are walking in the 80s and the cast mostly black, ethnic and mixed models. Would like to see Anne Klein, Michael Kors and Donna Karan AW91 shows when Helena, Yasmeen and Karen joined the established 80s supermodels.
Calvin Klein cast a very diverse show the prior season as well and he took a lot of heat for these two seasons! This and the Spring Summer collections were brilliant! Not just because of the models but, the clothes are just GORGEOUS!!
All the greats: Amalia, Katoucha, Anne Fiona (haute couture goddess), Mounia, Iman…Gail Elliot working the couture moves at every possible moment! Not to mention all the superstars to come.
This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE Calvin Klein Collection! The original music was so amazing as well! I wish you could have gotten it too! It was such a “moment in time”!
This is the golden age of modeling, and the ushering in of the 90's top models/supermodels. Iman would step off the runway forever a year after this (1989): with the arrival of Linda, Christy, Cindy and Naomi, I think she knew which way the wind was blowing. She would've been 34/35 years old in 1989, and she stepped off when (at that time) models were expected to retire by 30/35. I would like to believe that she foresaw the comparisons that would be made between her (the "aging" catwalk queen) and the young ingenue, and passed the torch with class.
My gosh what a lovely Throw Back, the 80's were great! Love the high waisted pants and skirts. Quite impressed with the way Cindy Crawford walked and its been a long time since Calvin Klein closed the show with a Bride. Thanks for making and sharing this video!
Fun Fact: When Cindy Crawford began modeling she was known around the fashion circuit as "Baby Gia" because she had this exotic dark beauty about her just like Gia Carangi had.
Models in the Industry: Gia Carangi had a tragic and short life! I wish she had better guidance from people in her life! She had a drug problem and died very young! Cindy Crawford one of the best saleswoman in the fashion industry! She made good money with Revlon. She then made even bigger money with Pepsi! She did not only get money from designers. Cindy was smart and had several streams of income!
Iman: A Somali ( East Africa) born top talent in fashion! A photographer discovered her in Kenya! She married a NBA guy and then David Bowie,! She has made millions in fashion! She markets clothes on QVC since leaving the runaways! One of the biggest models in the world many years ago!
Silky smooth gliding down the runway like watching angel fish swimming in a large aquarium very relaxing. Everytime they make their turn I make a swooshing sound like a cool island breeze. These fine Dames are just regal.
I’ve always thought the fashion industry in the 80s was more golden compare to the 90s. The big hair, athletic bodies a lot of personality. Since the 90s modeling was never the same.
@@timothychung4811 Of course he was. He became famous in the US in 1981 even before being recognized in Paris; where he was already an under the radar but master private Couturier. His first collection was presented at Bergdorf in 1981 and Bill Cunningham shot ELLE France Editors Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele and Nicole Crassat wearing the same collection for WWD the same year.
Baby Naomi ❤ she looks so happy at the end when Calvin kiss her cheek 18:59, also baby Christy as the bride 18:20 looks so sweet, Cindy looks so cute 7:09 and Linda even in those years she had that star quality and extra special somenthing.. if they knew years later the would become a pop culture moment... can we talk about Gail Elliot 17:35???!! Such a pro the dress looks so good just because She knows exacty how to pose, that is why runways was so well paid in those years, and Imaan that girl... one of a kind 3:58 and at 18:39 She exudes confidence, it was also nice to see baby Veronica Webb and Karen Alexander!
I still love these clothes!!!! This to me was the best designed clothes that everyone could wear. I was 18 years old when this line came out and loved every min. of it. Thank you Calvin Klein , you will go down as one of the greats.
It’s amazing how dramatic the improvement was in runway in just three years, with Yasmin Ghauri and some others make this runway catastrophe look like a traffic jam. Even Cindy and Linda don’t look like the way they looked later, which was spectacular
That's true but some of the lesser-known runway models were fantastic in this show. Models such as Katoucha, Rebecca Ayoko, Anna Bayle walked beautifully here.
@@randymedina9572 Why appreciate boredom? By the way, he's been grifting by designing boring clothes all his life. Not impressed. Name a masterpiece he's designed? Where is his purple rain?
