I teach high school and tons of girls are like this. It’s like, they can’t even get a job yet, but they ‘think’ they can parent 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤣🤣🤣. MOST teens that already have kids are single moms already.

@brandyfreeman4098 Год назад
@@Maiju86 , my guess would be because all these teen moms make it look so easy. They have money, are able to buy nice cars, houses, travel etc. To a teen watching that all seems very intriguing. They are going to school daily & maybe a part time job a few days a week. They think if they spit a baby out & start videoing their life that they won’t have to go to school or work. Teen mom “influencers” don’t show behind the scenes & what it’s really like. I’m 41 but can see how these young girls almost become brainwashed into thinking this is an easy path.

I had my daughters at 22 and 23. Although I wasn’t a teen mom, it was extremely difficult and I underestimated how much my life would change. I had them back to back, and suffered PPD and PPA in silence for YEARS. I can’t imagine what teenage parents go through, and I thought I had it really tough. I think I’m a better and more mature person for it, but man, I was so, SO young to have two pregnancies in one year. I wish more people would wait until late 20’s to even early 30’s to have children, and truly sit down and think about the life and relationship changes they are about to experience.

It seems like in the US people get children very young and have very small age differences between kids. Here in Europe it's different. In Italy 30 years old mom is "very young", many start having children closer to 40 years old... I would never be able to have one child every year. 😨 I think 3 years or more between children is good. ✌️
@le4905
@le4905 Год назад
@@Maiju86 It's the whole stupid "biological clock" timer that is inherently pushed on to women starting in their teens. We really need to stop that crap and take a cue from other places that don't call women's pregnancies at 35 "geriatric pregnancies". I was shocked when my friend told me her doctor said that. Most of the women in my family had kids in their mid 30's to early 40's... Even my grandmother got married and had kids in her thirties which was rare in her era. We need more fertility testing and affordable egg freezing so women aren't pushed to have kids so early out of fear!!

I remember being a first time mom in 2015 and I thought I could vlog my life being a mother-I even tried it. But every time my son would cry or I had to feed him or just do mom things. It felt unnatural to pick up my camera when all I wanted to do was stop my baby from crying or just finish. I tried to talk to the camera and I just couldn’t. I was paying attention to the stupid camera explaining ir setting up the “right angles and not focus on my child and that to me is why I stopped. as a teen mom, i don't grasp why any younger moms would immediately think "let me post my child who can't consent" - i may be the odd man out, but i refuse to post my daughter or allow her to even have social media til she's truly able to grasp what it means to make a digital footprint. - it's a scary, awful place for children and i was groomed/abused/manipulated as a kid because no one was truly monitoring me. - !!PLEASE MONITOR YOUR KIDS DUDE!!

In the 90’s I was married at 18 and had my first child just after I turned 20. I worked 3 jobs (server, hotel front desk & managed an apartment complex) up until the day I delivered. I went back to work 4 weeks after I delivered. I put my husband through school this way. I would never have made the choice to put my child in any kind of compromising position whether it be the internet or acting or whatever. Never. There’s always a job to be had and I wasn’t too good for any of them. I was proud to work and not go on the system for a paycheck. I’d do it again today with or without the internet as an easy ride. I was able to be with my baby all but 4 hours in the evening while she was asleep. You make it work without putting your child to work.

I was FRESHLY 20 when I had my son. Only by a few weeks. I wasn’t ready. I admired a lot of these women. That’s because I was looking for encouragement. I was looking for someone to say yes you can do this instead of omg you destroyed your life. How are you going to do this? What a mess you’ve made. While they sit back and watch me figure out how i will make it. Criticizing all the way. Wasn’t looking for a party but just for someone to say we will figure it out together. I think if there was more support at home for when young pregnancies happen, less people would be drawn to things like teen mom and family vloggers. That’s how I found both. I had my son a few day before I turned 18. 2.5 months later I graduated high school AND college with honors and my associates degree. Not to mention that fact that through my whole LIFE THREATENING pregnancy, I stayed in school and maintained a 4.0 in my college courses while taking full 16 credit terms.I got married to my now husband and we’ve been together for over 5 years. (I’m currently 19) we moved out, we live on our own 6 hours from family. We are both still pursuing our extended education. Exploiting my son never crossed my mind once. I don’t get into drama, I’m not chronically online, I look down on those that exploit their children. You can be a teen mom and be emotionally mature enough to be a damn good mom. Because I am. It’s possible. It’s not easy but it’s definitely possible. Not everyone has support, not everyone has a partner. So they do what they need to. But that should never involve exploiting your child. If you keep your life completely private and do sex work- so be it. But the second your children become public and support you instead of you supporting them, that’s where the problem begins.

Honestly, teen mom for me was a pretty big guilty pleasure growing up, they are all around my age so I kind of grew up with them and watching that different world they lived in was wild. The one you paused on for a while turned out amazing. She graduated. Put her butt in gear and also started to realize that she didnt like being in the spotlight. Started appreciating her privacy and wanting more of it for her kids and self and family.. Even brings up predators online at some point on the show. There is one other mom that turned out great as well and did other stuff with her life to be successful. Breakdown of everyone else. Addicted to something HARDCORE. In jail. Out of jail, back in jail. All have broken families, all have multiple kids with multiple people (some 3 or more). One completely exploiting her childs medical everything.. Its rough, a wild ride to watch. But as you said. Decisions were made. Some (aka two) owned it, others flailed.

She still has her kids in some of her thumbnails and videos so I don't understand why Josh is singing her praises. If she has truly seen the light about how bad online/TV child exploitation is, then she needs to make those videos private and never show her kids again.

She never addressed either the video released after husbands death by his best friends stating how Cam was seeing someone else while he was in hospital after he hurt himself and all the emotional abuse Landon suffered and how he begged Cam to stop doing youtube. There is a reason Landons parents especially his mom does not see her grand daughters, I really wish People would stop giving Cam all this praise when there is story on both sides. She needs to be more honest with herself and others. And admit her faults and she definitely still exploits her children. Everyone has their own opinions but i have never liked her.

I was 19 and expecting my first child and went to RU-vid to learn things because I had no idea what I was doing. I got sucked into watching these teen mom vloggers and was even contemplating making a channel. Thankfully! I chose not to. Now that I'm older, and not a child myself, I understand how bad that could have been. These teen mom or even adult family vloggers have a horrible influence on the younger generation. And I'm sure to this day there are teens getting pregnant and contemplating the same exact thing. It's so sad.

I had my daughter when I was 18 and there was so much shame and ostracizing that came from it that I would never have thought to start a RU-vid channel or publicize my situation in any way. Kind of crazy how much the spectrum varies in terms of what people are willing to share.

To be honest I would probably do it. I would try to be real with people and not show ever part of my life but regardless there is and would still be issues with it because when you’re holding a camera the moments just aren’t the same you can’t really feel them as much it’s like your watching a video your not there in the moment that’s part of the problem with vlogging your life.

One of the Teen Moms who has done really well for herself is Chelsea. She was one of the only ones who had supportive parents ( who were divorced but civil/showed a united front when it came to raising Chelsea and helping her look after her daughter). She got her GED, got a job, dumped her toxic ex/father of her child and is now happily married with some more children.

Regards to the whole influencer and social contagion thing: Spot on. I always compare the invention of the internet to the invention of fire; world changing however we needed to learn how to contain it, how to not burn things to pieces. I saw recently how hypnotism works- there is enough proof to show it does work, also. “The power of suggestion” is what one element- they then compare the mindset to be in to the type you get in when you’re driving but were not even paying attention. Likely the same mindset had while scrolling TikTok… I was born in 92. At 12, I had pictures printed from my printer of a singer JoJo, and posters and wallpapers.. I was obsessed with her. If I could have actually connected with her the way these kids do these days, I would have certainly been influenced in my decision making. Thanks for touching on all this.

I'll be honest, I watched the shit out of 16 & pregnant and teen mom as a 12 yr old child, also grew up in a very broken and dysfunctional home the way many of the teen moms did. I can see now as an adult how absurd the entire existence of it was, especially following them into teen motherhood, but I can at least say it was INCREDIBLE birth control for me as a preteen/teen going into high school. I was terrified of having sex lol. also made me want to get SUPER educated on all things parenting for any children I might have one day. But still so crazy to think that that was just regularly scheduled programming at that time

We tell our kids everyday, several times a day. “You are loved. you are worthy. You are enough. You are kind. You are smart. You are beautiful. You are strong.” And when one child is upset the other will remind them of these things and it melts my heart! I truly hope they believe and remember these things as they grow and become adults and maybe even parents themselves ❤

As a 14 year old who (thankfully) realized that exploiting was wrong early on in their life, it’s so scary to see LITERAL CHILDREN getting pregnant. Maddie Lambert, THIRTEEN? SEVENTH GRADE? that’s absolutely CRAZY, YOU HAVENT EVEN LEARNED ALGEBRA YET? it’s so crazy to picture myself being a mom, I could never! I’m a child, I’m literally still trying to figure out my favourite colour. I cant believe these kids even have sex, and vape, etc. it’s so unnecessary. You’re still in middle school, you don’t need to have sex. You’re learning, you’re growing, you’re being a dumb teenager, and having a kid is the biggest responsibility you can have. It’s genuinely so flabbergasting to me, because I can barely get all my assignments done on time, and I don’t even have any pets to take care of or anything. I genuinely hope people stop glamorizing teen pregnancy because it’s really fucking scary if you think about it. You’re a literally child who hasn’t graduated highschool yet, or even 8th grade, wtf?

This hits home for me! I was a teen mom in 2015/2016 when the teen parent videos were boomin. I had just turned 16. I made a RU-vid channel and started to make videos. I posted a couple and then quickly realized this isn’t it. I deleted them and never posted again. Many years later I rarely ever post my son on my Instagram or Facebook. The world we live in is not safe you never know who’s watching.

It’s very alarming how things within the last year have changed with the influence of tik tok alone. I see many videos of young moms having 3 or 4 kids by 24 or 25 saying they did things the smart way and honestly that stuff does make you think badly about yourself. I’m in college trying to figure out my life when everyone my age is married with kids and it looks like they have it together and in comparison I feel like my life is a mess. I know that’s not true but it’s scary how social media does influence people like that.
