Camaro Key Mod fixed , cut and other ways to fix the keyfob key fob 

I went to a local dealership YESTERDAY to get a new key fob for my 2011 cause mine is rotten. The Could NOT Be Bothered Service Advisor tells me that he can't do it for AT LEAST 2 days and I'm gonna have to leave the car. So not only would I have to pay whatever astronomical fee they'd certainly charge for the fob, I'd also need to pay to take an Uber there and back , which is about $25-$30 each direction. (Why was I going to the dealership, you ask? Well, I was being lazy and happened to be driving right past it, and frankly, I am just sick of this sticky, tape covered thing!) Welllllll after Mr. Sunshine Advisor said that, I was like "I don't f^(#!n' think so! I'll figure this out on my own." Lo and behold, I find your channel and key videos and could not be happier! Just ordered a fob off Amazon, so as soon as it gets here, it's a done deal! Thank you soooooooo much!!! :D

Very nice presentation. Ol Renfroe did a great job. I went into my local Ace Hardware store and spoke to a random worker and asked if they cut keys. Then they sent me to the back, then some older guy told me they don’t do it. Then the manager said yes we do but the guy named Nick is not here today. On my way out the door I saw a guy with the name NICK on his name tag. Then he said I normally do it but John should be able to help me. Then John admitted he’s never been trained on it. I finally just walked out. I offered my advice to the manager they should have every employee trained on keys bc nobody seemed to know how. So I ended up paying $43 to let Ford do it. My local Chevy dealer said I would have to purchase their key so I left there too. I happily have my money to Ford bc I just wanted it done. I’m glad you got it done Camaro Time. It looks sharp buddy. What you gonna use as a backup? And how many programs do u have so far? I chose to just switch my guts out to get around programming.

They have a switch blade fob that I really want for my G8. What a pain in the neck all the trouble you had to go through to get your key! Nothing like a old fashioned store and especially a glass bottle soda! Thanks for all the info!

I had a 2012 LT and a 2013 1SS/1LE and both still had the original flip key. When I got my 2015 2SS last year it had the key recall done to it - so that was the first mod I did. Sat at the kitchen table and cut the blade out of the 'truck' key and installed it back into the key fob where it belongs! So nice to have the flip key as intended. I left the other set of keys in 'recall' form.

This is a really good video that you have done and it's good that there ways around this issue so that people can save money. I will say that every key fob I have owned I have always bought the sleeve or cover that goes around it so that it's protected from impact and also keeps the buttons from wearing out. As a locksmith I would have no problem cutting keys purchased elsewhere if most people took the time to research the correct key and programming like you did. The reality is that 80% of people do little to zero research, purchase the cheapest thing they can find and expect the person cutting the key to be willing to waste time for nothing. This left me with no choice but to refuse to cut keys purchased elsewhere.

How to fix the remote programming for the dangling one I have the two dangling after a recall and I cannot program the fob now coz its not attached to the fob

I cut my key out of the plastic the only problem I had was my fob didn't have the roll pin, so I put a piece of plastic tape (that has adhesive on the back)on the key and then pressed the key on I haven't had problem in over 4 1/2 years :D

I like my switch blade key fob, have 2 and refused the recall on the key fobs. I have no trouble hitting my knees on the switch. So I continue to get the recall notice about every 3 months.

Cutting out the metal blade from the plastic head can you or anyone verify that the metal will have the 'slot' needed for the roll pin to lock into the new flip fob?

My motherboard on my old key fob is so old that it doesnt work anymore, I tried to do the new mod key fob and it dont work, I only have the key, what can I do?

My problem is my green chip seems to be missing the little black rubber parts where you click the fob button to correspond to lock or unlocking. Instead its empty and i see the white holder and metal behind it. Any advice on this guys? Thanks

Hey. I bought my 2014 from the dealer and they had already done the recall. Is there a chip in the key as well as in the fob?

My key fob had been made into the dangling key already when i purchased my 2014 Droptop LT Camaro used. Any idea what size roll pin that is so i could convert it back to its original switchblade design. They left the roll pin out when they switched it to dangling key.
