Installed these Camco cyclone vents about a year ago on Jeff's recommendation and they have been awesome. Easy and cheap upgrade for your trailer. Can't recommend them enough. They also work great when you are parked with just the natural wind.

Thank you so much for this recommendation. I'm a first time trailer owner. The first time I experienced that sewer smell, I second-guessed our decision to even own a trailer! This resolved the issue immediately. Thanks again!

Jeff, I just looked at your video for a refresher. Just got a new travel trailer and I put these Cyclone RV vents on my last rv. They are absolutely great and I would recommend this product to anyone with an rv. It always amazes me to see a few thumbs down on your video. You did a great great job for anyone who want to purchase this product and install it. I can't see it being done any better. Great video!!!!!!! Doug

Good Video of install. I planned to install only one on black tank but I now need to do both from reading comments. I would have made the effort to remove all old dicor and clean with mineral spirits . Starting with a fresh clean surface. Any idea how long these spinning units last

use plumbers putty by making a thick rope with it put it under the cover and push it down firmly until you see it oose out all the cracks its water proof and seals very well easy to work with then caulk around the cap and tube with the leveling caulk...

butyl putty will work but latex plumbers putty will not adhere to epdm rubber it may stick to tpo, but epdm is very specific as to types of sealers that can be used

He did not properly clean that roof. The sealant won't stay on that repair. I've had my 1st rv for less than a year. And even I've learned that.

I appreciate your feedback I have had RV’s for 12 years. I have always done my roof repairs in that fashion with never any problems. Not sure if you have been using Dicor self leveling sealant or regular caulk but the Dicor is extremely tacky and sticky. It is nearly impossible to remove when set up. Unlike standard caulk which I do not recommend using as it is prone to drying out and losing its elasticity over time and UV exposure. Once again thanks for the comment and concern. I hope you are enjoying your new RV.

I'm doing my 1st repair like this one this weekend. And I'm just soaking up all the info I can. I'm a big time perfectionist. It must be perfect or I start over. Some friends I have that are seasoned campers of over 40 years tell me clean surface is key. They use mineral spirits to clean the surface. Before they reinstall anything on an rv roof. There rv is an 89 model in perfect shape. They bought new in 89. They say the piece you have there has moving parts. And more things to go wrong. And not to use it. So I'm going back with what I have. Cool video though.

Cool. It sounds like you’ve done your research. I don’t doubt it would adhere a bit better to a clean surface. I hope the repair goes well and thanks again for your comments. Your doing all the right things by being proactive on maintenance. All too often people neglect them, I like to describe them as cheaply built homes that go through an earthquake every time you use them. Have a great day and safe travels.

Does it make any noise as on windy days as the wind rotates the fins?

I have not noticed it making noise. It has been pretty quiet.

Is this vent open? Can rain water and bugs get into the tanks through this vent? I can’t tell from pictures
@NorthwestRVTours
@NorthwestRVTours 3 года назад
Rain would be very difficult to get in I suppose there is a chance bugs could get in. But have never noticed any bugs ever in our tanks.

Is this only for interior smells? My stink is coming from the exterior basement.
@NorthwestRVTours
@NorthwestRVTours 3 месяца назад
Yes it is. It is the air vent for the black and gray tank.

@@NorthwestRVTours well darn. My husband and I can’t figure out why we smell poop smell outside even when the basement doors are closed. We have cleaned the black tank out with enzymes and it just reeks.
@NorthwestRVTours
@NorthwestRVTours 3 месяца назад
Do you keep water in the tank? I typically keep around 10-20% of water in the black tank to help things stay broken down. Another thing you can try is borax and powdered laundry detergent and fill the black tank up with water and let it soak. I have had good luck with this in the past to help break down and help clean the tank.

@@NorthwestRVTours . I might add we have a vacuum pump system however it has no leaks. Today we used a digester to break stuff down and left it filled up to soak overnight. My husband did notice a little wetness from the drainpipe that fed in to the top of the black tank. We don’t know if the smell is seeping out there or if we have stuck crap in the tank.

What a sloppy job of “sealing”. You should’ve taken the extra what 5 minutes or less, to clean off the old sealant. It looked like it came off easy earlier, what have you got to lose? The “job” you did probably won’t leak but what would it have taken to make it 100%.......less than five minutes. You’re welcome !
@NorthwestRVTours
@NorthwestRVTours 3 года назад
Thanks for your input. As I am sure you know the sealant never fully hardens and continues to become thinner. It is quite a bit of work to remove the old sealant and I have found it is easier to just go over the old sealant with new as it still provides some protection. Thanks for the comment and safe travels.
