Hey guys, welcome back, in this video im gonna be showing you how to install a camco hybrid heat. What the hybrid heat is, is an electric heating element that replaces your drain plug or anode rod in you atwood or suburban wayer heaters. They come in 6 and 10 gallon options, i went with the 10 gallon kit as the heating rods are the same length on both the 6 and 10 gallon kits, just different wattage ratings.

Like thank God you got a bunch of room around your hot water tank because believe me that's not always the case especially in the ones I have owned

If you fix the propane heater you can run the electric and gas at the same time and it heats up fast and it will pretty much give you 15 gals of water before it gets cold .

I can, but the hot water only gets used for dishes and to give our youngest (2yo) daughter a bath, my wife, myself and 2 older kids don't mind using the campground shower facilities. This camper isn't worth sinking any real money into, just keep it operational for as cheap as possible. It's got maybe 3 years of life left in it honestly. Than it's being turned into a flat deck 23' utility trailer.

Has anyone else installed the kit and didn’t get hot water? Everything seemed to install fine and is on but water won’t heat up even after and hour or two. I also hit the reset button on the thermostat. Wondering if the heating element or the thermostat is bad.

So can anyone tell me how I would drain the water tank after installing this? I’m getting ready to install this on mine this weekend but I am confused because I do not live in my camper and will need to drain it a couple times a week.

Hi there, i was wondering if it the illuminated light in your switch goes out once the hot water reaches temperature? Thanks.

Hi, sorry for the late response, and no the lighted switch stays on when the switch is turned on, as it gets its power before the thermostat.

@@AaronsAutomotive Thank you for the quick response. I bought a different type of conversion kit off ebay made by Western leisure product. It's pretty much same design. Like to b get your expert opinion, I want to cut off the plug and connect that to the breaker in the converter box. I have done this to a 12v Rocker Switch, negative to brass, middle pin to 12+ and top pin to load. Do you think if I run a 120v Rocker Switch in between the "Hot" black wire to cut power, Neutral and ground still goes to breaker. Do you think the switch will illuminate when on or how would you run on a switch like that? Thank you

The pressure relief valve was weeping becouse you didn't properly purge the water heater tank of air after draining it. In other words you didn't fill the water heater tank all the way up with water, this happens when the tank is only partially filled with water becouse of trapped air at the top of the tank. To properly purge the water heater of trapped air you need to open a hot water faucet in the RV before you turn on the pump, this allows the water heater to completely fill up, when the water heater is full the water, the water will actually be touching the relief valve sensor witch is necessary for it to work properly. remember steam is hotter then water and when the tank is not properly purged the top of the tank is filled with very hot steam partially activating the relief valve. If you don't open a hot water faucet while filling up the hot water tank then pressure will be created at the top of the tank preventing the tank from completely filling up with water, the end result is your hot water will have a large air gap at the top of the tank and will only have about 2 gallons of water in it rather than the 6 or 10 it's supposed to have. 3 clues that your hot water tank has not been properly purged of air and is not full of water. #1 weeping pressure relief valve. #2 water heats up very fast, (becouse you're only heating 2 gallons of water rather than 6 to 10) it should take several hours for a 400 watt heater to heat 6 gallons of water to 130 degrees. #3 hot water runs out very quickly. (once again this is becouse you only have about 2 gallons of water in the tank rather than 6 to 10)

Tank was full, I always have the furthest faucet on when the RV water tank Is filling, the reason my relief valve is leaking is due to corrosion being that it's a 35 year old trailer, and almost all original parts. I replaced the valve and have not had a drop from it since.
