Thank you for the positive comments about our show, we have always while we were together, strived for the best , By the way the song was never about cocaine it was about love
Been ridin' in this Cameo car since 76-77! As a old school pop-locker, when you heard that Cameo!!! Game over lol. Bless all of you Cameo members past and present for giving us great music, and great memories! Peace!
Nathan, brother, Cameo has been my favorite band since Cardiac Arrest. My uncle gave me his old stereo, and that album was on the table. In fact, I just saw Larry, Tom, and Lockett in Houston LAST WEEK! Of course, all the old heads were looking for more of your original members, but they didn't disappoint. CAMEO FOREVER.
I saw Cameo in Bermuda back in late 90's they performed Candy they are still awseome!! it's not that often when a song is such a hit as this, it is Classic!! Just listen to this performance! How often does a live performance sound as perfect as the studio? These Cats are BAD as F...
Arsenio was our version of MTV.With live acts. Working with Arsenio was the highlight of my life for six amazing seasons .All the amazing people I met .Whitney ,Donna,Prince Madonna Cameo.Luther ,Patti and the list goes on.
The drummer is no joke I would go every time they came to Dallas-Fort what a time my best band in the land ( cameo thanks for everything time you came out)
Funk, soul and R&B brought all colors and ethnicities together under the glory of music. Sadly, funk and R&B will never be the same again. Long live the 80's!
Wow they were actually singing live, amazing ! That energy was on point sheesh !!!! As soon as that Bass Line Dropped I caught chills ! Funk Gods for sure, only band I know that can make a song about cocaine & it actually be this catchy & Timeless !!!! " it's Like Candy I can feel it when you walk Even when you talk, it takes over me You're so dandy I want to know Can you feel it too, just like I do (Hoo!) This Stuff is starting now It's the same feeling I always seem to get around you There's no mistaking; I'm clearly taken By the simple mere thought oh you (Oh!) This stuff is starting now This stuff is starting now This stuff is starting now (Hoo!) My eyes roll in my head I toss & turn in my bed In the morning when I think about you (Yes I do) Simply put, you're the reason why Even though I'm real shy (Real shy) I attempted to look my best for you (Indeed I do, just for you) 'Cause you affect me, fascinate me I thank heaven for the things that you do It's like Candy ! "
I didn't know that's what this song was about. You do you Clapton's famous song Cocaine, right? When I've told people I've never used any drugs or even smoked weed they look at me like I have horns coming out of my head.
I would like they never stopped making this style of music, there is passion, creativity and love involved here. Not with the music nowadays "singing" about pussy, drugs, violence, murder, hookers and the N-word abuse... Thank you for sharing this GEM!
@@craigking9368 They guy who wrote this song commented (on this video, look down the messages) "it's not about drugs". But we all know for many it was.
When they went from Flirt and then hit them with with a Taste of The Victory Tour era Jackson's at 0:46 in that transition to Candy....Gold! As a DJ so many songs I play with this song as it's been sampled so much. But this song will always be a banger.
Cameo, definitely one of my favorite bands of all time. Not only are they funky when it comes to the fast songs but the harmony on their ballads are second to none.
Yeah, as Jr high scholers in the mid 70's me and my boys would yell "Owww" to each other in the hallways as an owed to Sugerfoot, the true originator.... Larry just continued it, to great success.
The song that went on to be played at every black wedding on the planet. In fact if this ain’t played at your wedding reception, y’all ain’t really married.
I was born in 1992 but for some reason this song always gets me on my feet at parties, good music will live for ever and ever.. Even my 7yr old son loves when I play this in the car!!
I am a 70s man. There were many groups from my time that could perform on this level. Could put todays performers to shame. They could sing dance and play an instrument. And i saw them live😉
You're like a brand new feeling, in a special way, a surprise package, on a bright clear sunny day, and wrapped up tight, so good, so good, Strawberry, Raspberry, all those good things, violets and gum drops that's what you mean to me, OWww! Sweet as candy...
Wait....what? Ray is on the skins here...I gotta re-watch. Ray is one of the all-time greats. Listen to "Final Truth, pt1" by Jean-Luc Ponty and try to keep up with the licks he puts down on that one. He was amazing to see live....thanks for the tip. Edit: not that I doubted you, but yep, that's Ray. I know that rhythm anywhere. BTW, on that cut I mention above you'll also find Randy Jackson (of American idol fame) playing the Bass....
My favorite group of all time! They had smooth balads like. Sparkle, Feel Me, Why Have I Lost You. And. They had the best Funk on the planet! Shake your Pants, Single Life, Freaky Dancin, and Word Up! Only Lakeside, and The Barkays were a close 2nd and third!
You have to understand that the 80’s was the androgynous era for music at that time what I mean is that in the 80’s if you were dress looking feminine it was considered as masculine in the 80’s if that makes sense
Timeless music that is beautiful music to my ears. I accidentally ran into a relative of Mr. Singleton while playing one of the iconic song;asking my friend, “Who is that group?” His response was quickly corrected when a doctor walks us and says, “That’s my cousin whom is one of the members of the band, Cameo.” With our eyes wide opened and chin on the ground we just stood there-frozen in time. She snapped my friend & I out of this melancholy moment as she shown us her badge which she gladly said, “Yeah, that my cousin.” She then darted down the hallway with her badge in tow as we looked on. My buddy and I was asking ourselves, “What just happened?” She must’ve heard us so she came back again to state more facts. She was never to be found again for we both looked for her. Anyhoo, every time I hear “Cameo’s ” music I laugh inside.
My little brother was born in 2006 he's 14 the other day I swear to God I went to visit my moms and I heard this song loud thought my mom was playing it nope my little brother had this loud blasting that goes to show how iconic u guys are and this song is

This performance is just....WOW! Hearing the music live with vocals and choreography takes the song to another level with feeling and mad energy! This is truly a GEM! Thank you for posting this! 😘❤💋
