Reminds me of good times in the US Army stationed in Camp Humphries Korea 1986! A whole lot has changed since then being called to ministry and all, but the memories will never die! Grateful! youtube.com/@strengthforthejourney
@@moniquescarlett6936 I never said they weren't great, I'm speaking from what I know and have heard. You're fortunate to have seen them at the location which they performed. Not everyone have that luxury.
45 years since Summer '79 I just Want To Be....Cameo is One of One Cameo Confunkshun Lakeside kinda succeeded Ohio Players Isleys EWF all bands with great funk Soul and or love Ballads Cameo has some of the best ballads as does everyone of the other groups and I love em all!!...Thank God we still have free fast access to this incredible music
The world has been on a Cameo revival lately from having their songs featured more in commercials to being remade by other musicians...im lovin they are finally getting their flowers while they’re alive
My mom raised us on Cameo, Earth Wind and Fire. This was back when record players and vinyl was still around. I'll never forget my first record player. Good Times!!
Because the industry wants to steal it later because they know how the younger folks coming out now I don't know anything about this so they can make money after the royalties or whatever kind of paperwork expires they can steal can use music and reproduce it and put it back out like it's their own that's what thats all about
Cameo goes hard!! They should have a whole genre just called “Cameo”... They were obscurely off the wall! Cameo is always on my playlist crusin low and slow in my M30 on Crenshaw...
Because more ppl started killing and selling dope...and the industry controlled what was popular not the artist. Might as well ask how did we go from black neighborhoods with 2 parents to single mothers
im 47 I remember when this came out. You are very right- we won't hear a group like this again unless its hipster white kids totally doing a cameo rip off! I would hate to see it- but if it made more people realize what amazing song writers they were- as well as how far ahead of their time they were( a lot of bands on alternative rock radio sound like more like this than Nirvana or the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2016) it would be worth it. But I will smack a mother fucker who says OWWWWW on stage all the time if I see him on the street!!!
I remember watching this on BET when I was 15 or so. We had just finally gotten a color TV and cable. Cameo was so talented, innovative and creative throughout their entire career.
Weren’t those the days-when we first got color tv’s, got a tv with a remote!, first saw music videos-I was obsessed with ALL. video shows, lol-and first saw all these cool videos from groups like Cameo. The 80s was an era of some of the best music everrrrr.
The 80's R&B groups sound so good. I wish real music could make a strong come back today. Cameo music is a prime example of what professional music should sound like in this era.
Absolutely legendary. I pay homage to the oldschool without them we wouldn't even be here. This track takes me back to when my oldest brother used to do donuts in the middle of the street ,& smoke the tires on his 1974 ,5 speed 350 badass Camaro. Back in 1985. I was 6 years old
It almost don't matter if they're inducted anymore because there's so many lame, overrated acts in the Rock Hall Of Fame. And Cameo doesn't need induction to validate their greatness but it still would be nice for them.
This is an EPIC tune by one of the most creative & intelligent bands ever. Attack Me With Your Love is another favourite. There's a hell a lot more to Cameo than Candy.
Francille St. Claire I agree Candy is another one of my favorites as well & it went over a lot of people's heads cause the song is really about cocaine haha I love all their songs & they all have subliminal meanings
Francille St. Claire I know ur right still single life one of my fav video but it's something bout this tune jus grab u I'm 40 and my daddy use to play the hell out this while me and my brother sit in da back seat dam time flies
God I'd forgotten just how brilliant this tune is. Popped up as recommended when watching Full Force. Had this album on vinyl. Think I might have to go and listen to it after a 30 year absence...
Cameo is a legendary band. The can do it all. Bangers, slow jams, funk, hip hop, soul, socially conscious, jazz, funky new wave ie. Alligator Woman. They need to be inducted to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in my opinion. Also Larry Blackmon is one of the most underrated producers ever.
2023 anybody that knows good music will always be here and Cameo I ain’t going nowhere until God call me home!!! Well done you guys are amazing and always will be!!!!!!!🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️
I was listening to these Cameo songs way back in my teens. I loved them then, and i love them now. just makes me wanna dance! Truly great music. Awesome!!
Ahh music playing with the smell of bbq at the family cook out. Your about 5-6 just living life innocently without a care in the world! These are the types of memories these jams bring back!
This song still brings back lots of both good and bad memories of 1984 when it came out. It was a summertime jam that Ioved to dance to outside! I still do in 2018!
OMG.. NOT THE JHeri Curl...lol..the music the styles the laughter.. God where did the music and the years go? Its nov . 2020 and this music takes me to a better day and place. Whos feeling this NOV 2020?
There is so much about this video that I absolutely love and it always, always puts a smile on my face. Larry Blackmon is amazing...such an original and humorously crazy.
Listen to the song and watch the video again with these clues in mind... Al Capone, Eva Peron, Invisible man in Drag... She's strange. Dope song but more than meets the eye.
I don't think the song is about transsexual women. I think it was just the idea for the video. The one KNOWN member of the group, Wayne Cooper, had already died several years before this song was recorded.
I remember having a cassette (for those old enough to remember :)) of Cameo. They still sound great today. What great, funky grooves these guys played!
