Thanks for bring back the memories...1955 Chevy Bel Air two door hard top...bullit profe 327 4 speed Muncie with Hurst comp plus shifter and 4:11 posi-traction 12 bolt diff. I owned the street in my town.
Reminds me of a neighbor who built a 55 Chevy in 1972 when I was 15. He just got his license and was building a rodded one in the garage. He just couldnt wait to test drive it. Couldn't find steering wheel nut and just pushed the wheel on. Stuck a folding chair in the front. Puttered up our rural road and saw us watching, and just had to romp on it. Sounded mean. the seat fell backwards and the wheel pulled off , and he dropped 8 feet into the creek. Rushed to get it dragged out, but too late, The highway patrol showed up. He put engine in another 55, and that wrecked one rusted for years in the woods. That's one reason they're value is high now. Hope you dont mind the chuckle memory. Very nice 55 you built.
I had a 55 Delray 300 hp 327 out of a 68 SS Impala,4spd Muncie 3:73 12 bolt posi,dirt track solid lifter cam,went upstairs like a 302 DZ.Great fun car!!
For some reason this brought back memories of all those times I pulled over on the side of the to pop the hood so I could untangle the shifters caused by missed 6:55 gears between 1st and 2nd on a 3 on the tree. We're talking hot rodding in the 50's 60's.
No driving skills is obvious My mama shifts gears in a smoother motion . And she’s only driven my dads truck years ago . But I guess if you got the money you can always pretend . Thanks great sounding car
We've got about 20 households in our neighborhood with hot rods and classic cars all I ever really get is thumbs up and people asking if they can take a picture not a lot of haters here
Uhh, it's where he lives and he got on it in places where he could see and there wasn't a chance of someone coming out of a driveway. I couldn't live in a neighborhood like that again. Too close.
Get out of the residential neighborhood and get after it! (Had a '55 210 for a "winter driver" winter of '71-72 when I'd park my .030 over 450hp Vette October-April. Paid $50 for it, another $50 in recap snow tires, oil & filter, plugs, points, condenser & air filter...then sold it for $100 in Spring)
Recap snow tires, ahhh yes sawdust recaps. When someone showed up with sawdust recaps on their street racer, you better be able to hook, cause they could, those things were softer than the slicks of the day. 😉
