Hey! So this actually wasn't the character video I planned on releasing this week, but the scale of that video ended up going past my initial expectations and I was starting to burn myself out working on it, so I started working on this instead in the meantime. That other character video as well as one other fighting game related (but not just Vs. series related) video will still come out before the end of the year, though!
Vega was always a mysterious character to me, and I wish he got to appear in the Marvel VS games. An emotionally scarred warrior by night, but a nobleman by day. Apparently his narcissism and detest for the 'ugly' developed from the traumatic experience of his mother's death. If only Capcom would take that seriously enough to expand upon, since it seems like one of the most interesting stories for SF. That, and he'd make a good rival to Wolverine
She has some curious things going on with her voice in the VS games. She shares her KO scream with Rogue for some reason, and some of her audios have a different pitch in her CVS1 incarnation. She's (if i recall correctly) the only SFA character with a non-japanese voice actor at least in the versus games, probably because she was made for Xmen VS Street Fighter, game in which they brought foreign voice actors. She had her XmenVSSF voice in Alpha 2 Gold but they changed her voice later in Alpha 3, game where she has a Japanese seiyū like the other characters, and she also shares her voice in this game with Juni and Juli due to memory constraints
Yeah, the pitch altered voice clips for her in CvS1 always stood out to me. I know over the course of the series they'd bring back VAs to re-record lines (I believe Norm Spencer in particular re-recorded a good chunk of his Cyclops lines for MSHvSF or MvC2, can't remember which) or use takes that might have been left unused for previous games (I _think_ Sabretooth has a few redone lines in MvC2 that are dummied out takes from XvSF, might have to double check that) I think it probably just came down to budget and logistics. Ryu similarly has that weird span of time when Toshiyuki Morikawa took over in Alpha 3 and MvC1, but his MvC2 incarnation has voice clips from both him and Katashi Ishizuka for whatever reason.
@@TheSeventhForceoh man, it would be pretty dope if you did a deep dive into the character's voice clips from Capcoms fighters. I always found it pretty amusing when they only recorded an additional line or two for a new game, like Morrigan calling for Lilith during her MvC intro, maybe some were just unused assets...
I love cammy, growing up i was into the games we had that being darkstalkers and street fighter Felicia was my number 1 in darkstalkers but street fighter it was definitely cammy. I was the only girl in my family to enjoy fighting games so having a strong but sexy female to play as that was inspiring to my kid mind, that also goes to felicia too lol ^_^
I like the idea of a video on PS2 Alpha 2G! Sounds like a very fun watch. I'm a fan of a lot of ports that don't get enough love myself (KOF 99 Evolution, Alpha 3 Dreamcast) so it sounds like a great watch.
It's a really, really interesting port with a ton of obscure little secrets that aren't all that well documented on the internet. Might make doing a video on that one of my first big goals for the channel next year.
Cammy is a character I've always really liked as a character, but haven't used in gameplay much, but man she looks like a ton of fun. It's also really cool to see parts of her Vs series identity influenced her in SF. Also, I'm totally with you, I love how effortlessly "cool" her SFVI design is
Cammy is always so complex and sexy, too. Oh, your video on her is great, but you left out one important part about her. Her pre-fight intro from X-Men vs. Street Fighter onward is an homage to her scene in Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, where she blended in the crowd and took her hooded coat off when she went after her target (of course she was brainwashed at the time). Other than that, everything is well-written. Nicely done.
Huh, is that bit not in the video? I must have missed it in editing, since I absolutely recorded a quick little blurb about that. I was up late editing this last night though, so I probably just missed it in my exhaustion. Thanks for pointing it out!
For some reason i was shocked to learn Guile was new to MVC2 and had never been in a vs series game before. They were just like we can't leave this without getting Guile in here, just like the console versions of Alpha 3
So Cammy... I don't really have much to say tbh, was never really drawn to play as her, and she isn't really one of those SF characters I'd be wanting to see in the series, (Which to be fair is like, three or four characters if I'm being honest) and also haven't unlocked her yet in MVC2, she's just one of those characters where if she is or isn't in the game I'm gonna have the same reaction, ("Oh, okay") but she is a legacy SF character, and also a very popular one, so I can see why she was picked, I do like fast characters though, so maybe once I get around to trying her out I'll like her more.
@@TheSeventhForce Her theme is certainly up there in terms of my favorite SF songs. I also wouldn't be opposed to Capcom expanding on Delta Red within the games. (I haven't read much of the Udon comics, so I don't remember if the team has been looked into much in there.)
The most they've done with expanding on Delta Red was in Cannon Spike, weirdly enough. Pretty sure the game itself is non-canon, but official Capcom materials do state that Shiba and Simone in that game are Delta Red members.
I always liked the version of Alpha they had in the PS2 anthology where you could pick different grooves for the roster. I know one gave Ken his air fireball from vs., but I am sure you may be aware of many more changes. In any case, glad to see someone talk about Alpha 2 Gold on PS2 as it is very much the reason Alpha 2 quickly became my favorite Street Fighter.
Yep, Hyper Street Fighter Alpha! Alpha Anthology is honestly one of the most interesting compilations Capcom's ever put together. Definitely want to talk about it more in depth one of these days.
