Easy explination for the average Dumb Dumb like myself, and funny blooper real...good job on the editing man PS...Should say ive seen other videos but 1st time ive stuck around for the bloopers. It was funny, and different then other videos but in a good way so wanted to say good job.

Wish I had ga weather this week. It's -14 no fishing this week. Just got a boat like yours, are the float pods a must have?

I just came back from Illinois, it was like -8 up there and I almost died from the cold. My southern Louisiana blood doesn't do well in the cold. Yall can have it, but then again its starting to get cold here again too, which means my butt will be in the shop! Pods are not needed for most set ups. I added them because I am going to be building a motor that is insanely heavy and way above what this is rated for! Pods will help keep the back end up out of the water some.

Have a 15 X 46" jon boat, prepping now for paint. Want to use OHW paint, solid color. It's mostly bare metal now. How much paint would you recommend for inside and out? Also, would you spray with the hardener mixed in, or add the clear coat after? Thanks

I would get 3 quarts of paint and 1 quart of clear. That will give you 2 good coats of color and 1 coat of clear which is plenty. I do not mix hardener in with the paint, I always spray base coat clear coat.

We paint airplanes backwards like that too. Where did you get the vinyl stencils made? I’m in new orleans area and about to paint a boat. Ive been thinking about doing stencils like that instead of the redleg. And how much did it cost you for the stencils for that sized boat?

Thanks for checking out the video Patrick. I had the stencils custom made at a local vinyl shop close to me. Cost was about $700 for all the stencils, which I had no idea I need so much. My boat is now 18.5 ft long and 48 inches wide at the bottom and it took a lot more stencils than I thought.

I will tell you it is not worth it. I spent over $800 on mine and I will never do that again. I could have gotten it professionally wrapped for less than that.

Oh and there’s like 10 different colors of naphtha labels seems like different types? Which one do you use? Also OHW website says they only sell an LVLP gun not an HVLP. Does this paint go on better with LVLP?

White camp fuel, Crown brand from Walmart is what I use. The LVLP and HVLP are basically the same, just sprays at a little lower pressure. I still use it about 22psi versus 28 psi for my other guns.

hey man a few question. part 1 you cleaned and scuffed and re cleaned. when you made part 2 was it the same day that you started painting or did you do it another day? if so did you have to re wipe again before you started to paint. also those stencils you had made did you have to create those patterns yourself and have them replicate it or how did you go about that exact process? also is all the stencil material specific to boat use? or was it standard stencil material

Great questions, I will try to cover them all but forgive me if I miss something. 1. This video was filmed over the course of 7 days, and and I always cleaned before painting another coat even if that part didnt make it into the video. 2. The stencils are just regular vinyl paint stencils that are actually high heat for cerakote work. I use them all the time in my hydro dipping/cerakote shop so its what I am used to and it works great for painting anything, cars, boats, guns, anything. 3. I did not come up with the pattern, I have a vinyl shop in town that makes all must custom stencils that I use on guns. I called them up, told them what I wanted it to look like, and it was made for me. 4. The stencil material is, now dont quote me on this, Avery Denison SF100-231 or 230-100, I cant remember the name, but its high heat vinyl maksing stencils. When they ran out of the yellow Avery Denison brand they used another brand that is similar but had it in different colors, so I told them to use whatever they had in stock because I needed this boat done.

3 quarts of OHW paint will get you 2-3 good coats. 1 quart of clear will do the whole boat no problem.

I'm curious about the stripes. You called them black when they were yellow, and they turned grey overnight. Are you working on multiple boats or do they actually change?

I explained it on one of the 3 videos, cant remember which one. They company that made the stencils ran out of the yellow color vinyl, so they ended up using grey and teal vinyl for the rest. Thats all it is, various stencil colors.
