Good on you both for getting a camper trailer, we sold our rear fold last year and purchased a Stockman Rover for the ease of setup and the 1080kg tare, we are loving it lots and can't wait to get back into WA to enjoy some of your lovely beaches.

Doing a great job Jess, but I do agree with Graeme. The more weight you can save, by changing the hubs and leaving a spare or 2 behind the better.

G'day Graham & Jess, To have your trailer/camper run the same wheels etc as your tow vehicle is a win-win, no contest or discussion needed. When your really remote the advantages are easy to see & think of, definitely worth making the effort & bit the cost bullet on that up-grade. (Ask Ronny Dahl if your unsure mate) Safe & Happy Travels Mate, Steve.

We have been shopping around for something to get back into for awhile now,looked at all the hybrids,other makes and models and found your video. We are now emailing Matt on prices and options but your video is the only one on RU-vid we could find, if you do decide to do a set video that would be great as we live in Brisbane and would have to fly over to WA for a look to see it all set up. 👍

10 - 15 minutes to set up awnings with poles, in my dreams LOL It used to take ages to get our camper external awning out. Very nice setup you have there. We made a big mistake getting a soft floor camper, a hard floor or forward fold would have been so much easier. All the slide outs are great, I used to have to crawl into the trailer to get stuff out or lift the top which was a big pain when everything was set up. Really good overall use of space with that design. 20 minutes for a full setup is great, with the camper we had it could take as much as 2 hours!
@great_offroad_adventures
@great_offroad_adventures 2 года назад
Yeah the quick setup and pack up was really important to us, because we do move around often and takes forever to get some places in Australia 🇦🇺 - but we also wanted layout & functionality that allows us to stay a few days in one place and be comfortable…..for us I think we’ve found a happy medium.

Great choice. Yes, second hand means you can't rely on the seller to fix up little stuck and broken things, but it is very valuable knowledge to have, especially when you are miles from anywhere. What does it all weigh over and above the 1600kg of the camper, with your stuff and water etc. The weight will give me a good idea of what to expect I will add to my camper too when loaded.
@great_offroad_adventures
@great_offroad_adventures 2 года назад
Yes that’s very true - and I do know a lot more about the camper now as a result. I can’t give you exact weights without taking it over scales or weigh bridge, but I’d say we’re putting 100kg of fridge and freezer, and then between gas bottles, jerry cans, awning, Weber and all the other bits and pieces probably another 100kg.
@BenMitro

@@great_offroad_adventures Thanks. I heard another couple talk about 500kg of stuff added, so its obviously going to vary from family to family.

I agree with Jess’s reservations….. waste of money doing the hub & tyre conversion (It’s a blokes testosterone that’s makes it seem like a good idea) And unless your going really remote it’s a waste carrying two tyres on the back as well…. Seems like a good camper.

Nice video and review. Lots if trade offs with hard floors hey. Quite heavy at 1600kg tare. I was wondering having the 270 ° awning when its raining you would get rain between the camper and back of 270° Awning?? I like the idea of 270 awnig i have one on my ute but was wondering if sacrificing the zip on awning for 270° made any sense?
@great_offroad_adventures
@great_offroad_adventures 5 месяцев назад
Hey Gavin. Matt the owner of Bigfoot Camper and myself have designed 2x canvas infill pieces that cover the gaps between the 270° awning and the camper, both down the side and along the back, so it’s great having the speed of the 270° awning for setup & pack up, the extra space/ cover it provides & the fact we don’t have to carry awning canvas and poles inside the camper taking up storage space.

Cheers mate 👌🏻 - yeah stoked with having found it…..wasn’t very much COVID tax either (it was an honest price that we paid). This is what we use, just unscrew the shower head from the hose and screw the hose fitting onto the Joolca (I’m trying to find the pieces to adapt to a quick fitting). www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/camping-toilets-showers/camping-showers-accessories/companion-12v-high-volume-camp-shower/90034821?gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=CjwKCAiAgbiQBhAHEiwAuQ6BkhPYSgLZl7Hs3ZJ291jCrFKrF4ITViVFX3u3giyO5kYssE9g5m27rhoC1NQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Would the gap between the Darche awning and the camper tent be a problem in the rain? That's about the only disadvantage I can see with it other than that looks awesome. I'd kinda like to add a 270 awning to my trailer as well as it is a similar style. Same as Millsys. Cheers 🍻
@great_offroad_adventures
@great_offroad_adventures 2 года назад
We’ve had the trailer in rain 5-6 times already and the odd drop falls through, but to be honest because the fall of the roof is front it back and not side ways….very little comes through the gap.

I'm new to the camper scene, you're some of the first videos I've watched but I'm liking what I'm seeing. If the empty weight is 1600kg, and the max weight is 2000kg. Do you know how much your particular set up weighs? Also just subscribed :)
@great_offroad_adventures
@great_offroad_adventures Год назад
Empty weight is 1460kg - max weight is 2000kg. Fully loaded with water & all the gear it’s about 1920kg. So we’re close to max weight. BUT - The trailer can get upgraded to 2300kg by installing a breakaway brake unit & getting reinspected.

No not really….we’ve towed it enough now to know it doesn’t effect the car at all….I do want some more experience towing it off road, but I feel tyre pressures are the key to how anything handles offroad most certainly trailers.

Looks like are taking a whole lot more gear….. but is it necessary?
@great_offroad_adventures
@great_offroad_adventures 2 года назад
Nah I’d disagree….I suggest you go and watch some of the content from our Kimberley trip, the only thing we have in the camper, that we didn’t have in the car for the Kimberley trip is the Joolca Hot water system & the 96L ARB Zero (but we still had a 40L Engle & 50L Waeco). We even had the Ryobi fan on the Kimberly trip 🤣. The camper allows us to take more water, fit the bigger fridge freezer & distribute alot of the stuff from the car back into the camper (to take load off the car), ie chemical toilet, food, drinks, cooking equipment, Weber, that all squeezed into the car, which can now fits in the camper…..the camper also allows us to stay off grid for longer, bigger fridge/ freezer means more food, 200L water vs. 70L water. So yeah we are taking more and yeah I feel it’s all necessary.

@great_offroad_adventures
@great_offroad_adventures 2 года назад
Body & chassis is made in China - final assembly is done here, with Japanese bearings & grease, Dobinsons suspension installed locally, option to get Redarc electrical system installed locally as well, plus other bits and pieces done locally. Jess and I discussed it in the previous video, that we wanted to stay under $30K and that not a lot from Aus was available in that range.
@christurner68
@christurner68 2 года назад
@@great_offroad_adventures totally understand the budget, we pay a lot for aussie gear that is unnecessarily of priced, but on saying that i know you can import these trailer for half the price also. I noticed a few of these so called aussie brands out of the same factory in china eg blue water campers. I looked at the blue water website and they are backing themselves with a pretty good warranty and have set themselves up with dealers around the country so you would think there is a good after sales service if anything goes wrong. You guys mainly travel in WA and I guess Bigfoot is local to you. Just be careful of the Japanese bearing thing coming out of china as it is a known fact that they copy the bearings also and the funny thing is they copy them exactly so all the numbers are the same haha… The cruiser would be happy with you guys now shedding some load 👍
