I just found your channel today as I found a Campfire song (Red River Valley). I really liked the tips you gave to make the song sound more interesting. What I loved was that you made it for people who want to play the guitar at a campfire, on the porch, to the wife or a few friends, etc and there is only one instrument (guitar of course). This requires keeping the rhythm and melody (by singing or using notes) going at the same time. You taught that in Red River Valley - awesome! I saw you have other campfire songs that you teach. I looked on your Playlists and you have a "Campfire" Playlist, but there is only one video listed. So could you please update your Playlist? Thank you! I read where over 90% of guitar players quit in the 1st year. I think the reason is because no one is teaching them how to play for friends, the spouse, at a campfire or something similar. It seems everyone teaches improvising and soloing, or individual songs where a learner has no idea why he is playing the chords or hitting individual notes - it's just rote memorization, so easily forgotten. It seems most, if not all teachers on youtube gear their teaching to beginners since there is an endless supply of beginners who come and go. Those teachers promise big but don't deliver. So most beginners quit and go back to watching NetFlix. Beginners are where the money is because most people don't have the time to learn all the advanced stuff, or quit before they can get there, and because there is no teacher out there to teach them what they really want to know. I like what I'm seeing from your channel so far, although this Blue Skies video teaches little, and yes, I definitely subscribed. I'm going to slow it down and try to figure out the strumming being done. Additionally, this video would have been much better if he had shown the various nuances that he played at the end. I guess he used some hammer -ons, walk-ups, lead-ups, and other things I haven't been able to pick out yet, which made the song much more interesting. He did a little better job at this in Red River Valley. UPDATE after about a month - I went over this tutorial over and over and picked it apart, and got it to a point where I really like what I'm doing. I picked out the walk-ups and such, adjusted the Fm chord in a way that I can get to it fast and it still sounds good (it moves fast to and from C!), and some other stuff. So I'm happy and I'm just getting the muscle memory down so it will be perfectly smooth. Listening and watching how he played the song was very helpful. Thank you, Maurice!
