After what feels like an eternity. Ive finally managed to get out camping again. Good bye Garden haha.
This time I wasn't alone as a month a go I adopted a beautiful little girl Cocker Spaniel who I want to take on my adventures. Her name is Bella. So this was a test to see how Bella would get on and also for me to just get away from it all for a little while and let the stresses and strains of life evaporate.
In this video I do discuss camping and how I believe it benefits my health. This is by no means health advice and if you are struggling or suffering with depression or any other mental illness. Then I strongly recommend you speak to your GP or health care professional. Just because it worked for me doesn't mean that it works for everyone.

I feel the same way as you about camping. I’m very lucky because I live 10 minutes drive into the National Forest in California USA, a little off road, pick a spot and that’s it since I don’t backpack. I also camp alone with my dogs and have this tent, a bit crowded with my 70 lbs pit bull but doable for overnight. 2-3 weeks camping I bring my Gazelle with plenty space to enjoy long stays. Thanks for the video.

You have inspired me to set up for solo camping again. I have difficulties setting up as my arms don't work as they should without resulting in much pain later, and taking the right meds for nerve pain makes me uninclined to do anything let alone camping! Anyway... I have a 10 month old Spoodle (English cocker spaniel x miniature poodle), and looking forward to making memories with him on the road!

Hi Jen. Thats lovely to hear I hope you make many happy memories camping with your 10 month old Spoodle. Ive never heard of that breed so just checked it out on a Google search and Oh wow....adorable. I sometimes look back on the videos Ive made with Buster with a smile with the adventures we had. We got to see some beautiful parts of the country through camping and he in part lives on through those videos. So it's well worth it even if the weather here in the UK is often far from ideal. It gives me something to talk about when I get home I guess haha. I hope your camping doesn't cause you too much pain though. I must add. Thank you for your kind comments and it amazes me that people are watching my videos and especially on the other side of the world. So thank you for that. It made me smile. Have a wonderful day and some great adventures too. Paul and Bella

@@ItsaCampingThing I have a 2 second easy and awning on it's way so we shall see how I go! I think in the UK Spoodles might be called Cockapoos, but in Australia we differentiate between the English and American cocker spaniel mix, cockapoo American cocker spaniel X, spoodle English cocker spaniel X. He is small enough that I can pick him up, although I can't carry him very long, it is enough for managing him if I do need to swoop him up for whatever reason. My ultimate goal, arms willing, is to get back onto a motorcycle and camp around Australia, visiting all our "big" attractions. We have over 200 "big" things, like the Big Pinapple, the Big Banana. Whether it is on motorcycle or car, I want to solo travel with Bailey, camping along the way. Wikipedia has a list of out "big" things if you want to check out the list! But for now I will start with in the back yard and on a friend's farm, and build up to coping with a trip, both physically AND mentally. Sorry for the essay! Thanks again for your videos and your sharing your own mental health struggles.

It’s nice to see the tent and awning in use. I’m one of those people that don’t have the awning available in my country. I bought the tent after seeing your video of the awning. I also bought the awning and had it shipped to my aunts in England and will be picking it up on my trip over in October. I used the tent this past weekend and loved it. The awning will be helpful as it rains daily where I live. Thank you for your review of both these items.

Your welcome. I hope you find it as beneficial as I have done. That extra space really makes a difference.

Hi Paul! It's great to see you again camping out! And glad also to see Bella is doing so well. I have a question for you. I am planning to go camping in 2 weeks time to Bretagne. I am really looking forward to it. As I will spend 10 days in the same spot. I will bring my tent, the Air Seconds 3XL Fresh & Black, which you know well. I have been paying attention to your last videos in which you praise so much the awning for the 2 Seconds Easy tent. And it got me thinking that the Air Seconds 3XL doesn't really have a generous awning. And certainly that functionality could come very handy for a several days camp. Now, I also have a Base Seconds tent. Which is a very basic tent (it doesn't have a floor), but it is quite large and you can stand up inside it. I got it a while ago, and I used it so that my father could have a shelter to be in when I took him to come with me when I went radio sailing and that was a way to entertain him and take care of him at the same time. I haven't had a use for it since my father passed away… Anyway, I was thinking how the Base Seconds could make a good awning, albeit separate from the main tent. I am fully aware that the Base Seconds is only a fair weather tent and is not rated for a serious gale. But it's spaceous, and I think it provides many possibilities. I would like to know what's your take on this setup combination? And yes, I reckon it is eclectic! Do you think it would work well? Would you set them up close together or a bit appart? Do you think it can cause an issue with the camping owners? I hope not. I don't think that would count as a 2 tents camp, would it? Thanks!

@ItsaCampingThing Год назад
Honestly I would check with the campsite first by giving them a quick phone call or send them an email. At least that way you'll know for sure and their rules may differ from another campsite down the road for example. Explain that you want to join the two together for a bedroom space and standing up space and Im sure you'll be fine. But I cannot say for sure. Thats what I would do. The sites here would likely count that as two tents and incase of a fire risk would mean you couldn't join them together. Until you mentioned the Base Seconds I had no idea of it and Googled it. Im sorry I cannot give you a definitive answer.

Is the 3p easy 2 second tent available where you are? I am in Australia. Have managed to order the awning and 2p tent. Could only order the pop up 3p ones here. Hoping to get a 3p Easy later.

@@wolfgangholi I'm some parts it's the same here. We seem to be ever moving towards a cashless society where you are encouraged to pay by an app. Trouble is often you cannot connect to the Internet to get the app to work

Ooooooh that's a really good question Paul. Well it depends on what sort of camping I am doing. Right now if I was campsite camping alone then it would be the Quechua 2 Seconds Easy with the Fresh Awning without a doubt. Super quick and easy to set up. If I'm going away for a night on my own then the tent on its own is fine. But for a longer duration or with my dog. Then the awning added on to it makes sense and means I don't need to buy another tent for lots more money. Plus with the awning I can put a chair in the awning and listen to the rain fall. Which is far more comfortable than laying down for hour after hour. The fresh and black feature is brilliant. But obviously it's too heavy and cumbersome for a wild camp. Plus would stick out like a sore thumb in a field on a wild camp. Now if I was just Wild Camping then it would be the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2. It's three poles that cross over means it's great in strong winds. Room in there for two and two brilliant vestibules. Reasonable weight and packsize. If I was a campsite with either one or two other people then it would be the Quechua Air Seconds 4.1. Personally I think four people in there is a tight fit. But three or less could live in there for a few days comfortably. But that fresh and black feature is incredible. Finally if I was going on a hybrid trip where I was wild camping and campsite camping but could only use one tent. Then it would be the Naturehike Opalus 3. Plenty of room for a multi-day trip. Green to blend in with the environment on a wild camp and that vestibule is heaven. The only downside is that it's quite a large tunnel tent so will sag if you don't get the guidelines millimeter perfect. Sadly I don't have a favourite tent. I appreciate them all for what they offer. The only tents I've not been fond of are the Vango Banshee's and the Oex Phoxx 1v2. Probably because I'm getting too old and knackered to fold myself up to get in and out of those tents. I hope that answers your question.
