A stone cutting board is a terrible idea. It's a great way to ruin your knives! It damages the edge and is one of the worst choices for a cutting board. If you have good knives, don't let them anywhere near a stone surface!

It looks like she will have enough left to do bathroom vanities tops. I looked at the layout and she doesn't have as much stone as I would have thought. When I did stone we only charged the customer for the sq footage used. Not for the slabs. On quart you pay for how many slabs it will take even if you just slightly get into a second slab. In most cases quartz is not stocked so fabricators don't get a deal in pricing. Stone is usually bought in a lot because the veining and color is consistent throughout all of the slabs usually 10 slabs. Quartz slabs are smaller than stone. That's why quartz ends up costing more per sq ft.

That's what I was going to say. Definitely leave a detailed one-star review on their website. I certainly appreciate it when other customers share their experiences, good or bad.

But why would they hold something that expensive for that long with no deposit given and no communication for a month? That's bad business, nobody would keep the hold that long.

@@redsoxexpat Because they want to make money? Making promises and breaking them is bad business. They had a verbal agreement. Communication goes both ways, and it sounds like they had all the information they needed. If this salesperson were any good at her job, she could have asked for payment up front and then sold a different one to the other people. Double the money. She messed up and didn’t want to admit it.

​@@redsoxexpat Contractors put countertops on hold for 6-8 weeks, so this is normal. The lady never told her that it was their policy to put down a deposit. How was Mackenna supposed to know that? Mind reading? Mackenna also said that she did go back a second time to make sure it was on hold. Mackenna has also dealt with other stone yards and said that THEY always follow up with her. They don't just cancel it. They call first.

I had similar trouble when renovating my kitchen and bathrooms. Chose a granite and they marked it for us, knew our contractor who was informed, but when the counters arrived they'd cut it from the wrong part of the giant sheet. I complained but they said too bad they'd sold our piece already to someone else. The company had done something similar more than once too When they have a monopoly they do what the heck they want. Grr. ☹️ So sorry for this to happen to you. 🥺💖

It's not incompetence at all; stop sitting around online stroking rich, privileged, famous, pretty straight white girls' egos every chance you get. Macenna is NOT struggling in life; her family loves her, her boyfriend, she just had a baby, she has everything she wants. Now you want to scream at low-waged workers on her behalf? PUH-LEEEEASE!!!! 🤣 You are the reason she is deluded into thinking she can ask someone to hold an enormously expensive stone for a month or more with no deposit. It is entirely on Macenna. "Yes, how long will you hold this for? I really want it. Can I put a deposit down?" Sure they should have said something up-front, but at the end of the day THIS IS LOS ANGELES! If the customer wants it, you do what you can to snag it; a month is a very, very long time for LA. I don't know ANYONE in my life who thinks they can ask someone to hold a $20,000 item for a month with just their name and number. It was Macenna's responsibility to make a deposit, to get a timeframe, AND to follow up. Incompetence? For who? The company is free to do whatever they want. It's Macenna who lost out, and for her to blame the company and you to sit around and feed this ego delusion? It's the company's "responsibility" to ask for deposits, give time frames, and follow up? Really? What law? What law requires them to do that? If Macenna and you, and her little yesmen could just admit that it was her request, her responsibility, and ultimately her loss - you'd be doing the world a big favor. Instead you invent company policies, rules, and obligations that are literally not binding contracts nor laws. It was Macenna, not the company's - loss. They seem to be doing just fine; they sold a piece, and maybe lost a sale but who said that equates to something they should feel shame for? They can do what they want, it's a private company. You want it? Make it yours first.

How is that her fault? Also, Contractors have stone yards hold slabs for them for 4-6 weeks sometimes with no deposit. You obviously haven't watched MaCenna cutting, building, staining, and installing kitchen cabinets BY HERSELF. She may be an influencer but she has worked her self to death to get where she is. NOTHING was ever just GIVEN to her.
