YESSSS! Please make a part 2! This is sooo interesting! I have a chromosome mutation/translocation 8;9 to be exact and I reaaaally want to do the 23&me test to find out more. I met a geneticist at the hospital 10 years ago but he didn't know enough about that translocation to say if it gave me more chances of having certain illnesses. It's rare but both my grandma and my mom had the same. Oh also, Concerta is a stimulant. I used to take it but had to stop because I get too many side effects from stimulants. I'm now on Atomoxetine or brand name Strattera and that one isn't a stimulant.

Hey, high key wanted to thank you for making this. I’ve been really sick and in a lot of pain for the last two years. Turns out I have Crohn’s disease and not one doctor believed me or my pain for 2 years of monthly Er visits. I got an endoscopy and was told that there was nothing wrong except gastritis. It then took my another year to convince them to give me an colonoscopy. Nothing was found, and my gastric pediatrician told me that there was NOTHING wrong with me told me it was just bc I have anxiety. I got upset with him and he discharged me from the practice bc I refused to believe him. After using livewello I showed some of the results (both gene variations for crohns I got from both parents) to my new adult gastrointestinal doc and he agreed to give me a pill formed endoscopy, which found severe ulceration, scaring, constricting, and bleeding. I’m finally being treated and I don’t think I would have ever gotten that pill had it not been for livewello and I wouldn’t have known about that if it wasn’t for you. For real, thanks and I wish u many spoons. Edit: Also it’s great that other people can know about this bc it’s a start to taking your health into your own hands.

@Boggythefroggy

I worked a lot on genetics like this in my co-op job during uni and 23 and me actually has quite the extensive process for sequencing your genetic code, they use a microchip next generation sequencing process. The thing is is that DNA doesn't completely dictate what happens to your phenotype, as it's a probability and not a fact as it relies on many other factors like environment etc. Also the page on their site should have a whole list of the health things they're testing for. Unless it was only the ancestry you tested for, because there's also a health one you can get at 23 and me. Anywho, good video!! You should do a part 2.

Hi Aaron, if you're interested in other genetic websites, I'd recommend Prometheus. It tells you the geneotypes of every gene that your test includes, and is regularly updated with scientific info/research on the genes. It's pretty easy to use, as you can use a drop down menu to search for genes related to certain conditions, or use a search bar. It also tells you how frequently a genotype occurs in the population, and whether it's "good" or "bad". It does have its flaws. A lot of the descriptions are written in a very scientific way, so I think that can get really confusing for people who haven't studied genetics/medicine. However, I like that it's not gimmicky like other websites. It shows you all genes tested and so you can find out about things that other sites don't bother testing for, and it's actually almost half the price of Livewello.

hi! this video was really interesting. i studied pharmacy at university and one of my favorite topics covered was pharmacogenetics. basically, the core idea is that each individual has a slightly different way of metabolizing certain drugs and these differences may affect the efficacy of the treatment. so that's why some drugs may work better than others for an individual. also really cool to see you being critical of the claims these tests make and how they are not always accurate
