I never knew that intersectionality was seen as an unfair advantage at first. Nor did I really know the background of intersectionality. I really love that you go back to the roots to explain things instead of just explaining what it is mostly used for now, because for me it helps understand things a lot better when I know how it started and why. Your content is the best.

THANK.YOU.FOR.THIS.VIDEO! Intersectionality is so so important. I LOVE how you give a great background on this term and refer to and reference the woman who created it.

How did you become so amazing? I love how you have everyone’s best interest in mind and don’t just talk about things that are about you personally. I think that’s what makes you such a great advocate because you think about the whole picture. I agree with you that it is important to know the background of things when using terms and phrases because people deserve credit for how their work has influenced society.

Thanks for this video! Just for anyone watching this video who might be curious about another perspective, Kat Blaque has also made a video explaining intersectionality called "What Is: Intersectionality" and I think it's worth watching after you watch this!

You made it back. 😘 Great video Aaron. You will make a wonderful Art Teacher or Consular. Your voice is so soothing & relaxing that it gives me "Pink Cloud", sort of feeling. ilu 💖 It was great watching everyone share their experiences with the "Me Too", movement. It was also troubling having Alyssa Milano credited as creating the "Me Too", movement.. when she was really amplifying Tarana Burke's voice. While it was corrected, Tarana Burke's name could've easily fallen through the cracks.

Omg we just watched her video in my class today! I am taking ETS 181 (I'm still in highschool, but I take college courses) and we are talking about intersectionality. It's so interesting.

I LOVE this video! Thank you! I actually never thought about it that way, with me it's like my struggle with not only being seen as "mentally ill" (I hate that term) and having physical disabilities. They will only look at one or the other, but never seem to want to take both into account. Did I get what you were saying right by comparison to my situation? I'm FTM, I still think they're making it especially difficult for me to get disability because of the trans thing on top of the other stuff, and I have told them outright "If I'm a hypochondriac, then LET ME KNOW because I don't want to live this way!" but all my medical tests come back positive for connective tissue disease, arthritis, stenosis, PCOS... it's absurd because the Dr will tell me I have things, but never put them in my diagnosis pages that disability can pull up and see. (sorry to vent here...) Love this video, give your cat and rat some loves from me! One more question: Where did you get your sweatshirt? :)

Love love LOVE this!! Have you read Patricia Hill Collins’ work? She’s another black feminist who talks about intersectionality and builds specific framework for looking at those intersecting oppressions (the matrix of domination). Everyone who can absolutely should read Black Feminist Thought! It really delves into black women’s perspective, looking at history, controlling images, and more. And it’s not written with a bunch of academic jargon (intentionally, to be accessible).

I work for a domestic violence shelter, and we use an intersectional framework approach in our victim advocacy because so many of our program participants experience multiple forms of oppression, and we cannot address one issue without taking the others into account. It's so important to understand this when working within and against systems of oppression.

Wonderful video, very informative! I actually really enjoy almost like, lessons or essay style videos so this was quite nice. Think it is great you are using your platform to inform other people about ways to be a good and respectful ally to people of color.

Hey Aaron, great video! I was just wondering if you've also read this article: Yuval-Davis (2006) ‘Intersectionality and Feminist Politics.' It's a really great article on intersectionality that I'm using for my BA thesis

Dax Shepard - Kristen bell's husband - talks about intersectionality within his own podcast, but his stance and view on it was skewed. The whole time I was listening to the episode I was saying "no, no, no, no, no that is not what intersectionality is, no, no, no, no" I generally stopped watching after that, but I hope he's changed his stance on the term.
