Foamed FEP or twisted PTFE ribbon (mainly air contact) dielectrics are the best. Paired with a pure copper core ~0,4mm2 (21 AWG) conductors with thick, mirror finish silver plating. But these are quite expensive to manufacture and require thick cable diameter (to keep the correct nominal impedance). For long lengths optical types are preferred of course.

@VinnyCThatWhoIBe 3 года назад
I realize this probably isn't the answer you're wanting, but my name is also Vinny and I have a work around for you. To get around a problem like this, you can plug your HDMI 2.1 device directly into your TV, and then use the SHARC eARC audio converter (by THENAUDIO) to output the audio from the TV (via the eARC port on the TV) into your receiver as a normal input (not eARC). Your receiver will treat the audio signal just like it would from any other device, displaying the proper format (Atmos, DTSX, etc). It will no longer be an "eARC" signal as far as the receiver is concerned, but will keep the proper audio format. This unfortunately limits the eARC port on your TV to function as just an audio output, but it has completely solved all of my problems. I use this with a Marantz SR7010 (no hdmi 2.1) and an LG C9 and it is an absolute must buy. I can pass Dolby Atmos and DTS X from my C9 to my SR7010 receiver and the receiver displays and decodes the signal properly!
@MarcusMaximus909
@MarcusMaximus909 3 года назад
@@VinnyCThatWhoIBe Vinny thanks for your reply, but let's be honest you shouldn't have to do that. I want everything going through the receiver, that is the selling point for these new receivers mainly. It should do what it says on the tin , everyone is waiting for the new consoles to drop. I appreciate your workaround, funny enough the 7010 was my last receiver!
@VinnyCThatWhoIBe
@VinnyCThatWhoIBe 3 года назад
@@MarcusMaximus909 well you're not wrong. However, based on my research, ARC and eARC can be rather flaky and this kind of takes the guesswork out of the equation. Granted your question wasn't specifically about ARC / eARC so I'll shut up now.

Then put gsync from "let 3d app decide" to just "On" and it works. Jsaux 8k 10ft currently tested. Edit 2. It completely stopped working after about 2minutes.. ridiculous

@@johnwilson7680 yeah, some are not working on 48 gbit, some have problems with audio (as I understand it the signal is breaking when translated to eARC, but not in TV speakers, maybe TrueHD or 3 substream in EAC3 is broken).

Hey Vincent, try out the Philips 436M6 monitor. It's a budget VESA HDR1000 VA monitor but apparently it has quite some quirks due to its firmware. I'd like to hear your take on it.

My Q90T has lack of shadow detail / crushed blacks with VRR on. Anything I can do about that? Also what happens next time you turn on the pc / tv? Or what happens in a few days? I've been through 4 HDMI cables in the last month (with another on the way) that support everything they should, and the signal "degrades"(well aware thats not what's actually happening) after a few days. This TV is a flickering mess and input signal plus constantly needs to be cycled for input 4. 3 Weeks ago Samsung told me to set the display to 60hz as a workaround, which isn't a viable fix. I didn't pay this much money for a 60hz display.

Perhaps you can do a video on playing HDR videos within Windows 10. At the moment the process seems to be extremely convoluted, with having to use Media Player Classic, LAV filters and MadVR etc. combined with conflicting reports of whether or not you need to enable HDR mode in windows settings for it to work. I have a couple of sample HDR mkv files and I've yet to manage to get them to display correctly on my Samsung NU8000. The whole pipeline seems very neglected to me. Honestly I'm not even sure how HDR is encoded in video files, the source material may be HDR10 / HDR10+ / Dolby Vision, that gets converted into a media file, then I suppose the media player has to map that to whatever the HDR spec Windows itself uses? I can't help but think the process will lose the meta data the original source material had ruin what the original had intended to be. Really the OS needs to be removed from the pipeline and the GPU driver needs to allow access to the meta data channel on the HDMI spec, whether that's currently possible I have no idea.
@lolerie
@lolerie 3 года назад
Or just use VLC or better potplayer. That is what happens. The gpu gots all metadata and tne streams it to display.

Do you think that the banding could be an after effect of the 2020 Samsung Q80/90T models using 8bit + FRC panels? As far as I am aware, only the Q800T/900TS are using native 10bit panels this year.

Great video, thanks! I have a Q95T and a RTX 3080, it works great in 4K/120 but I did not know that the VRR would work with a Nvidia card on a TV that does not support GSync, nor at 4K/120. How does that even work? Great though, I got it to work after seeing this video.

I had issued with a lot of the HDMI 2.1 cables I bought on amazon. I decided to just take a chance, and bought an Audioquest Ocean HDMI 2.1 at best buy ... and you know what, it worked. All my flickering went away. I bought all kinds of "8k HDMI 2.1 cables" at amazon... and they all had issues at 4k 120hz no matter how many of the 2000 reviews said it was a good cable. www.bestbuy.com/site/audioquest-ocean-5-4k-8k-10k-48gbps-in-wall-hdmi-cable-blue-black/6428201.p?skuId=6428201 I used these. If you have issues and think its HDMI, this will either fix it or it will prove this isn't your issue. So i'm not saying you need audioquest, but a $60 cable fixed my issues and I know audioquest doesn't make a shitty cable.
