Magicshine have just launched the new 12000 lumen bike light, the Monteer 12000. I was involved in some of the preliminary testing of the light.
Find out whether the light is awesome or simply too powerful for night riding.
If you wish to buy the light check out the link and don't forget discount code

Good review! I have always found that Magicshine offers the best bang-for-buck lights on the market. With the Monteer 8K being on sale, have you considered running 2x8K's for headlight instead? Their Garmin mounting makes multi-lights set-up possible. Imagine 2x12K's as headlight 🤣

Wow very impressive Lance I’m definitely like you I would rather see were I’m going than can not see at all. Because it can rather be very dangerous in the bush when you can’t see we’re you are going. If I ever get back into mountain biking one of these days don’t know when because I’m still having back problems I definitely will be keen on getting myself some of those lights

It is certainly a very powerful light. No worries about not being able to see.

I have the Monteer 8000s. On the helmet I use a 3000lm Fenix E35 V3.0.

My bike is a Focus Sam2 6.9 and run a 906s and a 8000sV2. I mount the 906S on the handlebars at the 1700lum setting, the 4500lum setting is too bright when riding through heavy overhanging foliage causing intermittent "whiteout's "or/and shadowed areas on the ground. With the 1mtr MJ-6275 - extension cable and the battery mounted on the frame I have the 8000s on my helmet serving the huge advantage of where I'm looking is what is illuminated I have never once since using this setup had to compromise speed due to lack of being able to see even while riding in the middle of the day under a full or partial canopy this combination works great, I run the 906s directly from the motor most of the time but if I'm riding longer distances in more open areas I use the magicshine battery to conserve the bikes battery. I certainly would like to try the 12000 in place of my 8000 if a 1mtr extension is available. On your video just past every jump is a shadowed area since mounting the 8000s on my helmet I had forgot about how annoying this shadowed area can be

My preferred setup is similar to yours. I like a helmet light because as you say it lights up what you are looking at. Not sure I would want the 12000 on my head though as quite a big light.

Massive difference when you switched the big sucker on . Almost night and day different . Very informative vid Lance , however , real MTBers do not run a rear light on trails , that's the domain of roadies .

You are not wrong about the tail lights. Was running some tests on them at the same time.

Yeah, as technology progresses, I'm sure we'll see 18,000 lumen and 24,000+ lumen bike light appear on the market at some point. The question is, how much is too much?

That already do if you believe Amazon knockoff lights

So by my maths 4500 plus 5000 plus 12000 equals 12000 as the 12000 overpowers the other two lights. Its certainly a serious bit of kit. That quick bit of rear view footage the brightest rear light is no slug either

@@shaun5761 the 12000 looks to be mutch wider... there are also other lamps with super wide lenses. Like 170 degrees. And is the 6500 a good commuter bike light?

Any more details on light setting and operation by remote? I'm looking for the easiest way possible to change from flood to spot on the fly, for oncoming traffic. Double click seems impractical, and 12000 lumen from single click could be to much, essentially blinding myself for when i need to dial it down. A single press to swap in between 2 preset modes(one flood, one spot) would be optimal. Is that possible? if not by default, perhaps with the help of the app?

Sorry I am really not sure. You could try contacting Magic shine direct. It is probably do able.

Would be cool if there was a usba or usbc out port on the battery pack, so it could be used to charge a phone or something similar.

Worth noting; While the output says 12,000 Lumens, it'll *may* be 12,000 at switch on, but it'll drop down after 30 seconds. I suspect that it'll be below 10,000 after 1 minute, and it'll continue to drop until the driver is happy it can sustain a reasonable output.
