Thanks! It’s old. I have four of them and this one is one of my Cyhra touring guitars which was in our HQ in Gothenburg Sweden since Feb 2020 when Covid stopped the world. And touring. Picked them up a few weeks ago and brought to my studio 😎.

800 2203 is my all time favourite amp so that 💪.

Thanks man! Glad to hear this! I use Sennheiser HD650s with Sonarworks reference software. The headphones are quite flat but the Sonarworks software makes them even flatter = better. I use the software and room calibration with my Genelec monitors too 👌.

That’s the Plexi sound = power tubes are begging for mercy etc. The input max peak to DAW was between -12 to -6 db on all amps. That’s why I tweaked the output levels from St. Rock when I switched between the amps 😎.

I hit the original to somewhere heavier during a show and I had to fix it before the next show (which was next day) and I had only gold tuners with me on the tour as spare so I put one on and the guitar was immediately nicknamed ’Goldtooth’ so it has stayed there 😁.

I’ve done quite a few videos where I compare them like on this one 😉. But yeah Plexi is a very unique amp and IMO only Plexi can do Plexi.

I had an 800 and was always chasing Plexi tone in vain. I am ridiculously happy (a feeling of success even greater than anticipated) with the SV20H, I should have gotten a Plexi long ago. I watched numerous vids about the SC20H vs SV , and Plexis vs 800s, read many comments, I agree with the consensus that there's a fundamental gap or difference between Plexi vs 800; I chalk it up to the # of gain stages plus voicing plus the Plexi first two knobs for Bass and Treble levels at start of chain/stages. One person here told me that to get a plexi sound from an 800, you simply crank the master volume of the 800. I disagree and I am skeptical about that after watching many videos and reading comments, and my own experience. he doesn't understand that I always crank all of my amps; I've already taken that into account. I will have to write up a web article about this: I advised Jim Marshall to make one watt tube amps, and I didn't like the result, and I feel that the Marshall company did a better job than my idea by making a mid-power 20 W amp with a 5 W setting. I think also a 50 W amp with a low power setting might be a good idea too. I think this makes much more sense, all things considered, than a one watt amp. taking traditional usage into account, a tube amp should be as loud as a drum kit (when hooked up in the usual way). I had been pushing very hard for the industry to make power scaling and, distinctly (a separate idea), very low wattage amps. I have changed the balance of my thinking since 2001 and 2007. I will have to write an article to work out my thoughts. I think power scaling is one correct idea for *new* tube power amp designs. I think the 20 W amp with 5 W mode is a is a correct idea - I don't really think that I discussed that approach back in 2001 or 2007. I'd have to discuss Mesa amps with multiple power levels. I'm not sure 20 watts is loud enough for a drum kit - depends on clean headroom vs dirty. I don't think that a 1 W (fixed wattage) amp, as I suggested, was a correct idea. that was one idea that I advocated back in 2001 when I discussed with the Marshall team. i'm getting great sound with the 5 W mode of the 20 W plexi and I like how it doesn't -- I believe it does not stress out the amp too much, and when I mess up and run with no load, it doesn't instantly blow up the amp.

Yeah I have two 7 string ESPs but I don’t use those just for the lows but if I need to go really low and high in a song. And I prefer the feel of a basic 6 string ’cos I’ve used those over 30 years so I’m so used to them and I don’t have to think where the notes are like I have to a bit with 7 strings 😊.
