Grapple is such an amazing attachment. It never ceases to amaze me how much work a subcompact tractor can accomplish with just the right patience level. SS

Tim, that 1025R does a lot more that the JD brochures ever hope to show. I was amazed with the way it handled that large log! Good to see all of the family involved, been missing Katriel in the "work" videos, but I understand, as she has been hopscotching all over the globe this past summer. Keep up the great videos, and scriptures. Now think I'll go out and give my 1023E a pat and clean him up!

I was struck by the excellent and professional quality of camera work in this video! In fact, one might more appropriately call it cinematography. Combined with the probing and insightful interview style, makes for an award worthy production.

Well, Tim, this video, plus a couple of your other ones, has convinced me to look seriously at the Artillian grapple. I see lots of others advertised on Craigslist all the time, but I like the double, individual one you got. VERY versatile. Once again, thanks for helping me spend more money! (did ya hear the sarcasm in that? LOL)

As I watched you on that incline I was saying to my self "Where's Vinny?" I think you need to some trailer shopping. It's not so much a weight issue it's a length issue. You need room for Vinny and Johnny plus attachments. With Katriel on the job Christy can run the other machine. Obviously she does't have enough to do. LOL . Wait 'til she reads that. Ka-Boom!!! I know she does most of the video and editing work plus runs around behind you trying to help, { there's video evidense}. I just couldn't resist the urge. You two are a great team and I liked the way she was always a part of the tractor testing in previous videos. God bless and see you two on the next one. To Katriel: Long pants, Long sleeves, high top shoes. Beleive it or not, these are construction sites and not safe for casual wear.
@tomkeating65
@tomkeating65 6 лет назад
You should try to mount a receiver hitch in the front of your tractor to use a portable electric winch. Same for the back. Your little tractor is one heck of a machine. I haven't seen too much where you'd need a bigger tractor. Some jobs are time consuming, but overall, you got it. Great video once again. God bless and stay safe.

Great video. Do you ever have any problems with the Fire Department when you burn brush like that? Here in our area the Municipalities don't allow open burning, but the County will allow small burn piles as long as you get a permit. I'm really envious of the loader and grapple that you have on Johnny. My BX doesn't have a loader and some areas my Mahindra with the loader just won't fit. Katriel, try to find you a couple of long-sleeve shirts for working on projects like this. Sporting Goods stores sell some really nice ones for fishermen. They are mosquito resistant, SPF rated and very cool and comfortable. They are great for outdoorsy work. A good pair of tactical style work boots will help protect those little toes and have the added bonus of supporting your ankles. I actually got mine at our local Bass Pro Shop, but most sportswear shops sell them. Hikers love them as they are super comfortable.

@Meraub
@Meraub 6 лет назад
FWIW, when moving backwards with a wide load in the grapple be sure to watch out for trees or other things that may snap the load and break the attachment on the front end loader. I had a log like you were moving and was backing up to put on the burn pile and a tree snagged one side and the broke both attachments of the grapple to my 3720 Deere. Those are the ones where the grapple quick attach pins are secured to the brackets of the front end loader and held in place with the snap pins. I had to order replacement brackets and then install them (easy to install, finance committee was not happy). So, be gentle in reverse on those brackets Mark

Katriel, don't listen to anybody giving you grief over your flip-flops! Even here in the midwest I wear shorts and sandals year round. I have a pic of me wearing shorts, t-shirt and sandals out in the snow while cutting some plywood on my table saw. Of course, I don't stay out there very long. I'm just a displaced California beach boy. BTW, I've run a nail up into my foot before wearing shoes, too, so unless you will be wearing steel-toed, steel-bottomed, steel-sided boots, the dangers are still there. You've got my whole-hearted support for wearing those non-shoes anywhere! And, you have a wonderful father who lovingly advises you not wear them, but let's you decide.

Easy/cheap way to start a brush pile. Save your old pillows in a garbage bag in the garage along with used oil. Take a pillow out and push it into the brush pile. Soak it good with the used oil and lite. It will burn for about 20 minutes and easily start the brush to burn. Don't use diesel or gasoline!

I just pulled some 12 inch pine stumps out with my 57 JD 520. I was putting my front end up in the air and she was digging. I ended bouncing a bit when the tires found the many rocks in the ground. I pull hard one way then go another way. Took alot of effort for the ol girl but but they left the ground. One of my chains i broke a link(not thru but will if i dont fix it. Double clevis fix)and the grab hook looks like a slip hook. Lol. Ps my fit bit recorded i was in the exercise heart rate zone while the tractor was doing all the work

Hey Tim, I just came across your channel yesterday and have been busy checking out all the great vids. Had no idea that little JD could handle a log that big - was it hollow, or solid? Thanks Robert. The log was solid, but I’m sure it had rotted somewhat as it had likely been there for years. Must not have been TOO rotten because it didn’t burn up in that fire. That small John Deere has a lot of power. I like the grappling teeth. I was amazed that the tractor could lift that tree up. I don’t think I would go into the fire as far as you did. You’re lucky that the hydraulic lines didn’t melt. I think you would be better off dropping the logs at the edge of the fire and then push it further in to keep the hydraulic lines away from the fire. Either that or weld a half round shield around them. Maybe you could get a welding blanket to wrap the lines in. I’m sure that fire isn’t good for your tires either.
@jesseamaya4413
@jesseamaya4413 2 года назад
Just wanted to reply about melting the hydraulic hoses. As long as you go in then right back out it's no problem. Have used much larger rubber tired tractors with a root rake on a front end loader to do the final cleanup on brush clearing operations and I have yet to melt either the hoses or tires. Just use a good dose of common sense.

Actually, would be a great job for a compact excavator with mower and Johnny. Let the excavator mow the hill, dig the fence out, do the main clean up and Johnny moving brush to the fire. Even a compact track loader would be a better option than Johnny.

@@TractorTimewithTim I'm looking in a CONSTRUCTION VIEW and trying to hint to Christy to get bigger machinery. Johnny is great for these tight quarter jobs. But he doesn't have the lift capacity or lift height you need at times. I do have a compact tractor that i mow fields with and minor clearing jobs. I don't have a grapple. I mow, till gardens, grade gravel driveways, level yards/dirt piles. Times I wished I had a "Johnny" for tilling jobs i do. But more jobs I do I would prefer to leave the tractor at home and have more construction orientated machines that have higher lift capacity & lift height, more horsepower and heavier duty implements. My apologies.

Hi Tim did anyone comment about burning poison ivy What happens if you get poison ivy in your lungs? It can also be inhaled if the poison plants are burned. The smoke may expose not only the skin to the chemical but also the nasal passages, throat, and lungs. Inhaled urushiol can cause a very serious allergic reaction. ...
