That had to be a heart wrenching experience! I lost my Bengal that I had had since he was 3 days old. He was 10 years old & he was my soulmate in a cat. I never found him & there’s never been any closure for me. I’m so glad you found Mia!!

I am sorry to hear that... Bengals have the additional problem that their unique cote makes them very attractive to "adopt" so if there's one roaming around, a loving family will gladly take them. I'm really happy she was wearing an Airtag...

@@OutdoorBengal Thank you. It breaks my heart to this day. That was 14 years ago. I never thought I’d have another cat, but I recently found a stray calico kitten in my garage & brought her in & cleaned her up. I’ve filled my living room with cat trees, etc. She was lonely and always on me, so I adopted a half siamese male for her and I’ve fallen in love with both of them. Ill be flying them from Honolulu to Florida In December & ill definitely be putting these devices on them! Thank you for this video & all the rest! They’re learning to walk on leashes around the house so we can explore outside together.

I'm so sorry you lost your friend, I know what it's like. My black kitty had a trust in me I still don't know yet with my two kittens now. I don't know where he went, or if someone took him with care. I feel like ill never heal from not knowing, but it's certainly not going to stop me from loving my two boys! @@craftymind2913 It’s the not knowing that prevents healing. My prayer has always been that someone stole him & provided well for him, but I’ll never know and I doubt anyone would’ve taken as good of care of him that I did. He was raw fed & lived the life of Reilly. I wonder if a substandard way of life .. I can’t finish that thought 😥

My Norwegian Forest Cat Merri just went missing for 4 days. I have a Samsung phone and ordered a SmartTag. I'm so glad you found your cat!!!! i was away too (I flew back home) but at least he was out in our neighborhood. I can"t imagine losing my cat in another country, and i also travel with my cat ❤

Albert, please notice this. After 36 years, first time owning a pet here. I love him and luckily I have so much time to train him. My kitten British Shorthair and i are thankful for you. Thanks to yours and my time, I started with moving fingers clicker training as you suggested and then "sit" training. "Sit" was tooooooo easy to teach btw. Now I thought your "no" video was the next step to train and its working well in day 2 of teaching it. But please please plase, put your clicker training playlist in order of new people here to start from fresh to "clicker training" like I do which i belive thats how most people find your channel like I did. The playlist is too random and its even conflicting with your verbal order suggestions in them which is understandable cause of experiment. I had to watch them randomly which made me feel losing time unnecessarily. I can imagine the order in your playlist made a lot of people lose time or if not they had to go through a difficult path possibly without even noticing. Please sort the order of your clicker training playlist to your liking instead of a random pattern. Thanks again. Greetings from Turkey.

Only when she is in situations where she could potentially escape (not when she's on her harness) only when she's unsupervised in open spaces (like a friend's backyard or when I'm traveling and she stays in the room).

I have the same thing, but with Android. My Lili likes escaping from my balcony or the hallway, because she likes outdoor, birds, people, other cats ... but all my neighbours are not cat friendly... I must find her quickly. I'm walking with her with a leash in the secure park of my flat. After 3 hours she doesn't want to go back home 😅 and she's escaping few days after again. I didn't yet find the balance between her outdoor needs and my rythm.

Yeah... cats can be demanding. What I found works best is to stick to a schedule and try to do always the same. Never allow outdoors time outside that schedule and with time, they'll learn to wait. By the way, what device do you use? Maybe there's people interested in knowing!

Great vid as always Albert! Just a question tho: My work is quite far from home and I would like to frequently check if my cat is home or not. There is always someone home with a phone that i can call if I see that the cat is out of my home. Will an airtag work for this? Thanks

an airtag will help you know if your cat leaves the home as long as there's other iphones nearby that detect your cat leaving the perimeter.

When I first tried AirTags I understood why most people don't like them to track their pets. Then I lost Mia and it made a MASSIVE difference. Since then, I'm a big advocate for using AirTags.

For cats that are too small for an AirTag or GPS tracker or who don't want something bulky a TabCat is another option but you trade accuracy and size for range (500' only).

Is it worth the anxiety of air travel on my cat? I have this dilemma. I don’t want him to be depressed when I am gone for 10 days. How can we go on excursions, dinners, etc when you travel with your cat?

Researching AirTags and I’m seeing warnings that AirTags now start to beep if the host iPhone moves more than 33 feet away from the AirTag? Also, I thought Apple updated it’s anti-stalking efforts by making this speaker on an AirTag beep constantly after its been separated from its host iPhone for more than six hours. Is this accurate? I really wanted to try this on my cats. Any input on this is appreciated!

Absolutely! Take a look at our profile, there's a bunch of tutorials you can use. But very summarized, train them to understand that you are a safe place (rewarding behaviors you want to see more often)

My cat was lost, but the air tag was not showing it's location. It only showed last seen 12 hours ago. What I am doing wrong, it was not supposed to update the location of the air tag when other iphones was passing near it?

Yes! You need to mark it as "lost" and if it doesn't update it's because it's not near other iphones... Could that be the case?

Do you have a harnas that Mia absolutely cannot get out of if she were to get spooked and panics? My cat even managed to get out of the treponti that's designed for that not to happen :(

You are not the first person to ask this! :) The cat harness that I use is very light yet escape-proof. It has a small chest pad to protect the cat when they pull and a self-restricting mechanism that gently snugs the cat when they try to slip out. The harness is available for sale on: amzn.to/42khwDA

I would've had a problem, luckily she still had the collar on. Most collars are kind of hard to "break away" so unless something very bad happens and they get tangled, they should stay without a problem.

There are alternatives to AirTags that work with other phones but the point on the rural area leaves you with no non-GPS options! have you tried GPS trackers?

@@OutdoorBengal Thank you Albert for your reply, so glad you got Mia back. I have used Tractive GPS one but my cat has lost his collar & the tracker is almost out of power. Its not very good as only holds charge for 7 to 10 days! Its so stressful!!

Hello! I believe there are many reasons to not let the cat out on their own (Predators, Prey and Accidents) it's a no-no for me. She is chipped (but I was in Mexico and live in NY, so if she does not come back in time, I either have to stay longer o I loose my cat forever) not a good situation to be on. Cats are an invasive species and have caused hundreds of birds to go extinct, but that's a whole new discussion. Probably a topic for another video!

This comment makes zero sense. AirTags are made for inanimate objects anyway. Not living breathing reproducing creatures. What does your own children mean anyway ? Adoption happens everyday. Plus who are you the love police lol. AirTag anything you don’t want to lose.
