This was my second ride on my Spyder, but I’m uploading this video late, with an explanation at the beginning. We travel from Niagara Falls, through Buffalo and into the Southern Tier of New York. Some good scenery but the video was cut short due to my GoPro battery dying out. I also talk about the upcoming Solar Eclipse, which will pass directly over Niagara Falls on Monday, April 8th. #canamspyder #minimalism #adventure #niagarafalls #solareclipse #buffalony

The Can-Am transmission is unique in the industry. When cold, the 1st gear engaged has a distinctive 'clunk' especially when using reverse. After its used, it doesn't do that again. Its quiet. They changed engagement of reverse in the 2024 model. Not sure I'd enjoy it, owners say its nice when they get used to it. When using an actual reverse gear you appreciate having a real reverse. Others use the starter motor for reverse. Ultimately, that can't be great for the starter motor. So yes, i appreciate the semiautomatic transmission of the Spyder. Coming from Moto Guzzi, there's no clutch no shift rocker for using your foot and also no 53 mpg i got with my Goose! At best i get 34 mpg on the Can-Am. No, don't like that. I get that on my FIAT 500C! That needs improvement on the Can-Am.

It just takes a while to get used to the shifting I find Myself down.Shifting one gear lower than the automatic Shift points and that put you in your prime torque zone

I really enjoy the format of your videos. I am interested in your continued thoughts on the Spyder and am enjoying the “local” sights and places of interest. Thanks for taking us along on your journeys

I have a 2021 F-3S and the gas fill is same as my other bikes. I always wondered about the under seat tanks access. Might upgrade to a different model down the road but my F-3S fits my needs now. I liked the automatic transmission, didn’t think I would seeing how I have been a rider my whole life. As a kid I lived on a dead end street that was also unincorporated. Rode a old Cushman Scooter when I was about 10 years old. It was bigger than me! LOL!!! Loved it. Being on a dead end street was a true blessing. The entire block was built by my Uncle for many of our family. Almost ever home was afamily member of old friends of family like for instance my moms childhood beat friend and her family lived across the street and her Parents lived next door to us. It was a truly great environment to grow up in. I feel I was beyond lucky. Good luck with your Spyder.

That sounds perfect. I had a dirt bike with trails and woods close by, but not that close.

@@SpyderMinimalist cool thanks for the quick reply! BTW, have you checked out Shawn Smokes Vlog? He post 7 days a week! Really good channel. He is a Can Am / motorcycle technician. Really good Volg, I watch him everyday.

B&O was the “Baltimore & Ohio” Railroad. It was ultimately absorbed into CSX

@@guzzialfa wow! That’s a neat bit of trivia. I may have to do some research and shoot a video on that topic, maybe scouting out old stations on the line.

Been watching a couple of your videos. I don't own a spyder but I do ride the little brother the Ryker. The ryker, as I'm sure your aware is a CVT transmission. My guess is if the spyder gets an updated transmission they will go to the CVT. I would prefer the transmission in the spyder over the ryker. If I did own one and felt that the auto shift down was a bit slow, I would just get in the habit of shifting it at what I felt was appropriate for the speed. One thing I did learn from this is the tank is under seat. But great videos. Hope you keep making them. I for one will be watching the rest of your sypder videos over the next day or so.

Thank you so much! I know I can always downshift myself, I guess I just find it odd that Can-Am has this hybrid system. I appreciate you for watching. Thanks again!

Yeah the gopro battery leaves a lot to be desired. There are ways to address it though. Glad you are enjoying the spyder!

Could you do a video on how this one is to ride, compared to your 2 wheelers in the past. Pros and cons of 2 vs 3 wheels.

Yes! Once I have more miles under my belt and can make a realistic comparison. Thanks for the suggestion!

Another excellent video. I bought my 2020 RT Limited a few weeks before you so we are having similar experiences. A coyple of things rarely mentioned in most Spyder videos are the big clonk you get when shifting from Neutral to First or Reverse. Feels like a hammer blow to the transmission, but im assured that it is normal and doing no harm. The other this is the belt noise(thrumming around 49-53 mph); again seemly taken as normal. Have you experenced this and have yoy got a belt 'tensioner' fitted. Can you share any thoughts on these in a latwr video please. Keep up the excellent videos.

I experience the “clunk” every time I start out, but I knew that before I bought it. I’ve not noticed the belt noise, but I’ll keep my ears open.

I downshift manually all the time. What i wound like to see is a 7th gear. When I'm going 70+ my gas mileage drops significantly
@SpyderMinimalist
@SpyderMinimalist 4 месяца назад
…and I’ll be doing lots of highway driving, so I have to decide will I stay below 70 or guzzle gas like crazy.
