I got there about 9am after experiencing the IEP from Paddington. R West was very quiet as I expected till about 10am then things livened up. Chatted with a few people and it was sunny and warm so quite enjoyed my third visit here
Yes another winner Keith !ẞ Surprised to see a good few empty stock movements ,sure there is a good reason ,though haven't a clue why! A great day of varied freight ,and agree have the HST,s anytime over the IEP,s .Great work and commentary as usual from you regards Nick.
Wether there are containers to run or not they have to run the consist with or wthout load or they could loose the slot in the timetable. So i'm led to believe.
Hi, Keith, I live down here in Cornwall and am lucky enough to have the railway about 50 yards from my home I am lucky I can see the sleeper and the IEPs coming past another brilliant video thanks
You did well at Acton yard to see all the locks without other workings in the way .we rail enthusiast's are missing the hst,s for comfort on the cotswold line
Very early start there Keith, but worth the early alarm. Trains seemed pretty quiet on the way down, guess it was pre rush hour. Plenty of freight to enjoy and a lot of IETs - fast but uncomfortable then!
Thanks Keith for another entertaining video. For future reference - the South Western trains go from Reading to Waterloo via Ascot, Staines, Twickenham and Clapham Junction and the GWR unit, which got 'blanked' by the SW train goes to Redhill or Gatwick Airport via Guildford. Thanks again.
nice vid again as usual.keith ,.....out of all the stations you have been too..where is the best and interesting one.....??and you have travelled the rail network...
Leicester, (L.I.P ) Stafford. Peterborough. Reading West. Clapham Junction. They all offer Loco's and Freight workings, To be honest I just have to be out on the railway, More so since my Lady went in to care. I love travel, meeting people, Photo and video. Prodducing and editing a video rather than uploading a single train which seems to be the trend these days. Thanks for your interest
Euston must have changed a lot since I was last there in the 1970's, as there used to be an escalator down to the tubes from the foyer, straight down to the Circle line. - - and that IEP, the announcer sounds like Donald Duck sniffing helium!
Hello friend from Pennsylvania. It’s nice to ride with you as your phantom companion. I really enjoy your folksy narrative. (I’ve subscribed). Many thanks. As always I have lots of questions. 1. What’s an I.E.T.? 2. What’s carried inside the baby blue DB freight cars? 3. What is the use of the longitudinal peak or bump on the top of most British freight locomotives? 4. Given that one entity operates (controls) all the trackage, is there a public schedule of what trains are booked onto each route, so that one could know in advance what freights are due past a point at what time?? I’ve heard you mention a “diagram”? I guess that’s enough for one video. Thank you in advance for your answers and insight. Best wishes. I’ll be on your side of the pond to do 4 weeks of streetcar (you call them trams) riding in Holland, Belgium, Berlin, Prague, Brno, Ostrava, and Milan - that’s probably enough for a 76 year old guy. Wish me luck!! Thanks again. CAS.
1. What’s an I.E.T.? Intercity Express Train 2. What’s carried inside the baby blue DB freight cars? Ballast 3. What is the use of the longitudinal peak or bump on the top of most British freight locomotives? I think you refer to Exhaust 4. Given that one entity operates (controls) all the trackage, is there a public schedule of what trains are booked onto each route, so that one could know in advance what freights are due past a point at what time?? I look at Real Time Trains but real enthusists who dont have shaky haands like me use touch screen mobile phones and pay subscriptions to get the kind of information you ask about. I’ve heard you mention a “diagram”? Route.Hope this is helpfull and thank you for your interest. I am 82 years
Changing from Euston mainline to the London Underground to Paddington ain't easy as you know but it there is not much you can do about the stroll to Euston Square Underground for Paddington and you obviously took the Hammersmith Underground from there where the platforms are parallel to the Mainlines.. I suggest at Euston Square take the Circle line to Paddington mainline as the Circle lines take you to the exit that is much nearer to the concourse at the front of the station saving that horrible walk. Cheers mate.
