I recently put a post on Facebook asking about caraway seed cake, two of the more elderly ladies referred to it as funeral cake and said that is what their Grandmothers had called it, so I looked up funeral cake on google to find :- "Funeral Cakes are a Yorkshire Dales tradition, with links back to the Arval bread of the Vikings. They are decorated, shortcake-like biscuits, flavoured with caraway seeds, and wrapped in paper printed with the deceased's favourite verse or hymn." I live in Yorkshire which was part of the Danelaw pre-10th century and wondered if the Danes have a corresponding cake or bread now? Modern caraway seed cake is enough sponge cake mixture to fill a 2 lbs loaf tin with the addition of 1 oz of caraway seeds and baked.

Chatgpt did the literal right thing. You asked for a simpler recipe, not an easier recipe. This may be a language issue and the definition of what “simpler” means. Simpler means less detailed. What you really wanted was an easier recipe. Ask chatgpt again but ask it this time to give you an easier recipe rather than a simpler recipe.

Congrats on 140K, though honestly I can't believe you don't have a million followers, because your videos are simply the best -- just the right mixture of expertise, conciseness, and humour. I've been taking Danish classes for several years now, and whenever a new course starts and we are asked to introduce ourselves, I always delight in telling my classmates that one of my hobbies is baking sourdough bread, and my sourdough guru is a Danish RU-vidr! Live long and prosper!

Two days ago i asked chatgpt for a sourdough recipe for a loaf of 800gr, after getting wrong hydration or wrong total weight, chatgpt was like : im sorry, this is the correct formula ..... The total weight is 900 gr, but you can cut out 100gr to achive your goal. Then I answered : do you think my boss will be happy about your solution? And it crashed and asked me to contact help center.

I'm curious, was the version 3 of ChatGPT or version 4, the latest paywall or Microsoft version? I used version 3, which doesn't seem to so argumentative and it worked fine. For 80 percent, I got: 500 grams of bread flour, 400 grams of water, 10 grams of salt, 100 grams of sourdough starter. But the AI is known for sometimes giving an incorrect answer and passing it off as being correct.

Thank you for another great experiment video, Sune, and congratulations on breaking 140k! I have just recently gotten back to baking my own sourdough recipe, which I could not have developed without your methodical and inspirational experiments, which I binged on during the Corona-void in 2020. I really did not know what chat GBT was until today. And I'm still not entirely sure. Although, if I ever have occasion to use it, I will make sure I don't ask it for a recipe for sourdough! 😅

Try doing it this time while telling Chat how you (people in general) do things like this (thought processes) and you'll see much more relevant iterations. You need to train the system in your way of thinking (talk to it like you would any person) and where your goals are, it will learn from you. Don't delete a string (chat) that you find useful, it will evolve with your interactions. And like any conversation, going off on tangents and exploring related and new subject within a long chat informs the AI your underlying searches and that seems to improve the chat responses/thinking. Remember different chats do not share the new improved system between your different chats, it stays with the chat you improved, but there are ways to share, (ask GPT) with new chat strings

I've used ChatGPT for some savoury muffin recipes, and on occasion it manages to put in too much baking powder. Last time it said to put 1 tbsp of baking powder instead of 1 tsp. I mentioned the amount seemed quite big, and it apologized and gave the same recipe but with 1 tsp.

I gave it a challenge and asked it for a recipe of "Aish baladi" and the recipe doesn't seem quite right. The flour type wasn't right and the dough too thick when baking.

But, when I added authentic I got the correct recipe. I'm impressed. "How do I bake authentic Aish baladi bread?" Tip to anyone curious about this Egyptian bread: The best flour for this in the west is "Atta flour" which is a fine wholewheat flour in the style used in the Indian subcontinent.
