I guess you just don't know what will be relatable. For example, Jessie's paper stars remind me of how much I love making paper frogs, and her story reminds me of how in class I would cut paper to stim/focus. One of the first "maybe im nd" moments, as was my tendency to 'parallel play' or to do my own hobbies just next to people.

On cleaners, I feel like having a household cleaner is more common in our generation, and I theorise that it's to do with working habits. I think there are more people living in pairs where both people work roughly full time - in my parents generation, it seems anecdotally like people worked less (in terms of paid employment) on average, and the time and energy was spent working on cleaning and other chores instead. My mum worked very hard throughout my childhood, but only three days of that per week was paid employment - the rest was doing the majority of the household chores, mostly on the two days whilst I was in school. I feel like that arrangement is less common now and cleaning a whole house on top of full time working/running a business/childcare is a *huge* job!
@yanatarkhaeva
@yanatarkhaeva 2 года назад
I also think cleaning now is getting recognized as a legitimate job, which it totally is, so more people pay for it as they pay for other jobs and outsource it too. It's not just "house chores", so it's not a thing that should be confined in a household. So if previously mostly aristocracy and rich people would hire someone to clean their homes they would be like a maid and mostly live in the house or near, so in a way they were "inside", therefor cleaning was also an "inside" job/matter. Now it more like calling a plumber to provide service for your house. I think that the fact that a lot of people who order cleaning services clean a little bit themselves before opening the doors of their house is an additional evidence how it slowly transforms into real sphere of work instead of being previously a part of upholding your house's image.
@menace4607
@menace4607 2 года назад
Only if you’re middle class, I don’t know many people who can afford cleaners even when both people work full time
@kpwxx
@kpwxx 2 года назад
@@menace4607 oh yes, it's absolutely very much still a financial privilege to be able to. But it certainly seems more common (anecdotally) than say, when I was a child (in my area of England at least). It just wasn't even a consideration for most people, however much they earned.
@kpwxx
@kpwxx 2 года назад
@@yanatarkhaeva Yes, I think people recognise the value of that work and are happy to pay for it in return for gaining back some of their own time as well (and a professional is likely to take much less time to do the same work!).
@zucchinigreen
@zucchinigreen 2 года назад
@@menace4607 I think a lot of people are viewing their time as money so even if it's outsourcing your laundry to someone else to get back 3 hours and have fresh, clean clothes, it's a splurge worth doing. Because in those 3 hours you can "spend" it on yourself or even use it towards a side hustle. So if hiring a cleaner once a week gives you back time, it's an investment towards yourself. Saving money is no longer solely about the traditional penny pinching or cutting costs, it's about spending smarter of course within your budget!

I love the stars!! I'm partial to the white one, too. And the plant cuttings are so cute! I'm currently living in a tiny college dorm room, but once I have my own place I'm hoping to fill it with animal-safe plants (since I also have a cat, and the people I'll be living with want to have other cats and possibly a dog). Also: the folding. My class on poetry writing made chapbooks this week, and I got to fold most of the covers for them. After awhile, my professor was like, "Do you want a different task to do?" and I was like "Oh no I love folding!" I used to have a 365-day origami calendar that had instructions for a new thing to fold every day, and by the end of the year I had a giant box full of my creations. Folding really is such a calming activity. All of that is to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this video. :-)

Any plant I have ever been given that hasn't been a cactus or a succulent has died or been sent off to my mother before I've killed it. I have ADHD so watering plants isn't something I will remember to do, but succulents will start drooping long before they're actually hurt by the lack of water, so I get a visual cue to water them. 👍

Jessica I'm so glad to see you walking more and looking in less pain now, I hope that back injurys recovered well, and it totally makes sense to get a cleaner if you can afford to, no shame, we should all have the help and support we need to live well. We just need everybody to get there too, but you not having that support doesnt help everyone else to get theirs, so don't worry! I like the white one and the pure red one best! I felt so bad about getting a cleaner for a long time, like I was failing as an adult. Until my partner made me realise that I was cleaning for two adults, one of whom is disabled and can't clean but will make a mess, while also being a full time student and doing other small carer-things. Getting a cleaner was not failing as an adult but being an adult and deciding what to spend my energy on. So it's great for me to hear other people talk about getting a cleaner! (I'm also aware of the privilege in being able to hire a cleaner, I'm from a poorer background so I didn't even consider it as an option until my partner was like "yo I have a job we can pay for this")

Hello, ladies! I THINK your cuttings are from a wandering jew, or inch plant. There might be a possibility that it is called "Moses in a Basket"--a unique pod or flower that resembles a little boat with tiny flowers that bloom in the pod. I have raised both kinds and have propagated them for friends and family. Our son was three months old for his first Christmas [he was an answer to prayers]. So, I dressed him up and plopped a Christmas bow on his fanny and photographed him under the Christmas tree! It's one of my favorites to this day. 😊💖

You and your beautiful family are a highlight of my week Jessica. I'm dealing with a lot of health problems myself, and sometimes life just gets too much, and seeing you powering through, and always looking so beautiful, and being so happy with Claudia and little Roo, it just makes it seem a little more possible to make it through today. Plus, all my family is in England, so it's lovely to see the countryside and all. Lots of love from the US.

Having a creative hobby is definitely relaxing. It also helps to keep me off my devices too much. I recently took up cross stitching!

My spouse and I do the same thing. He will play video games while I draw or sew or color. It makes for a lovely evening.

You are such a cute family! I love how you both diy next to each other, with your christmas tree and a few candles there. It's such a comfy atmosphere! :-) The stars look so great! :-D I especially love the solid ones, even though I'm usually a fan of colours. I love folding stars as well. :-D There are so many different and beautiful stars (Sara Adans of "happy folding" on YT does wonderful and easy to follow Origami tutorials and she has a playlist dedicated to christmas stars. It's gorgeous!) The paper Jessica is using, is indeed often used for transparent origami. The book witches garden looks so interesting! I immediatly went back in the video to get the title and the author's name to investigate it! Thank you so much for this video!

also giving cuttings away as gifts, is a fabulous. holiday plan. I've bought some used books (in good shape), for gifting this year. But I'm looking at some of my overgrown plants and thinking, "for next year!"

I remember that my daughter made a paper star in grade school! I still have it! It's purple and pink. I didn't realize how many different shapes there were! Now I'm intrigued and want to give my hand at making them! This would be great to do with the grands! I love both of you! You're so adorable together! 😍 Wishing you much love and happiness 😊.

That's a gorgeous plant! I always love plants, seeds, seedlings, or flowers that can be planted for re bloom. I've always enjoyed getting things that grow as a gift. Such a thoughtful gift. 🪴🎁💝

The star turned out beautifully! I think it would be great to make a bunch in all different sizes and hang on strings. 🌟💙💫

lovely work ladies :) the red star looks very much like a Pointsettia flower. Has Jessica considered Origami for stress relief? can get quite addictive and a mobile of paper crane birds would be wonderful in your nursery :) They signify success and good fortune in Japan. Beautifully potted plants Claudia, a very thoughtful and ecological gift. Seasons Greetings 💞

The all red one is my favorite. How about a red, green, white and gold? That would be lovely. 😊

I have that same plant and have also been propagating it. I gave one plant to my mum because she kept commenting about it when she saw it and going to give another to a neighbour whose given me a few plants already.

I really like the white one and the red one! The cuttings are so impressive but I dread when people give me plants as I am sure to kill them! May these ones have better luck!
