As someone who spent most of their childhood with alcoholic parents, I can assure that most of these people were feeling withdrawal symptoms of an alcoholic. I see some people saying that they can't be alcoholics because they have jobs and they seem healthy, but the truth is that they're just "functioning" alcoholics. Sure, casual drinking once in a while is fine, as long as you have a limit. But if going without liquor is that hard for you, it's probably a sign to put down the drink and reflect.
@ewanicole123
@ewanicole123 7 лет назад
Yeah, exactly. Coming from a child of an alcoholic, that made me so upset. How they cheered on these clueless people who were obviously on different stages of alcoholism. It's not a joke and for buzzfeed to make light of this major problem is frankly disgusting.

Alcoholics are those people that literally can't get through the day without boose. These people obviously could and did it for a month. If you are an alcoholic you'll get all kinds of physical and emotional symptoms and people will seriously notice how you suffer.

devicedd Didn't the girl in the fedora say she felt like she had a hangover even though she didn't drink a sip of alcohol? And didn't one of the guys say that his family told him he seemed a lot healthier and happier when he wasn't drinking? Sounds like symptoms to me.

+Andre Gardner Yeah especially the girl who said "I actually woke up feeling like I had a hangover" even though she wasn't drunk the night before. Your body becomes so used to drinking alcohol, and depending on the effects it gives, when it doesn't get that feeling, your body starts making you feel sick as a way to tell you "Give me more alcohol"

+Emily L'Heureux I go a month or more every time I got to most middle eastern country's for work but I would never do it at home ever too boring I would have nothing to do on Saturday nights
@londongirl2603
@londongirl2603 6 лет назад
Emily L'Heureux I truly think people have a missconception of what being addicted to alcohol is. If yoy have been drinking regulary for many years then it becomes hard to not drink because it becomes a habit. And habits are very hard to break. If you drink to mellow your feelings or to become more confident or whatever reaso then having that removed makes a person fearfull. It does not make them automaticaly alcoholics.
@londongirl2603
@londongirl2603 6 лет назад
Emily L'Heureux people can go witout eating for a month and not die. 40 days water fasting can be done and is beneficial for your health but its very difficult to not think about food. And eat something
@londongirl2603
@londongirl2603 6 лет назад
Emily L'Heureux I really wish people would educate themselves more on the issue of alcohol abuse, alcohol dependance and not label people so easily with label of being alcoholic. Sometimes people have a dysfunctional relationship with alcohol just as one would have it with a partner. There a various levels of the pyschology involved in this. People often out of ignorance just like to place labels on people or things. Labels are often put on to describe a vatied range of things.

"party-pooper" i don't like the attitude that if you don't always drink alcohol at parties or nights out, then you ruin for everybody else since you're not fun. I don't have anything bad to say about people who do like to drink alcohol though. I don't drink because I'm not 18 yet, and still when i turn 18 i won't drink all the time just because it's legal. I just think it's sad that people just assume that you can't be a fun or social person without alcohol that's all.

This video is crap! Im an alcoholic. I used to drink to get drunk. Thats the only reason I drank. I couldnt walk into a bar or someones house and just have one drink. Not possible. Once I tasted the alcohol the more I wanted it. One day I woke up and said Im sick and tired of being sick and tired, Havent touched any alcohol in over 4 years. I also learned that you save money by not going to the Bar!! If you cant go 30 days with out a Drink you need to be in AA!!!!

here's a few things for stopping drinking at home Try eating food when you are drinking - this cuts down the amount you drink. Take a break from alcohol. Keep track of how much you drink, then you know if you are cutting down. Set yourself goals - don't make them too difficult at first. Pick one or two days or every week when you will not drink at all. Next, try to stop drinking for one week per month. (I read these and the reasons they work on Adoette drink plan website )

People who aren't a part of the Australian/New Zealand culture (or any other culture that is heavily orientated towards binge-drinking) don't really understand how hard it is not to drink and to still be a part of, and invited to, social events. If you aren't drinking and the people you're with are they will spend the entire night trying to get you to drink, they don't accept that you don't want to.

I have been trying to drink less. I am trying to be more disciplined with myself about drinking, since alcoholism runs in my family and I found I had some pretty bad habits after going from barely drinking ever to dating and living with an alcoholic. Apparently, also, amounts that people often assume are one drink are actually two, such as with a "glass" of wine or a drink with spirits. Sometimes we may be over consuming alcohol and not even know it (I know I was). It's hard to adapt, but I have found drinking caffeine free tea at night helps me keep my "ritual" while benefiting my health.

I think it's harder from a social standpoint than a physiological one. Unless obviously you're an alcoholic. If most of your friends socialize in bars/clubs then it's going to be harder to give up than say if you and friends spend time playing sports, watching movies, shopping, etc.

I don't feel their pain at all because I had to be in a treatment a few years ago and alcohol was ABSOLUTELY FORBBIDEN for me during that time because it could cause a dangerous reaction with pills. I stood a year and a half going out with friends, going to parties... And not a single beer! Not even a tiny little shot. And it never was terrible for me! I drunk sodas with different fruits pieces, smoothies, non alcoholic cocktails, water with lemon, Bitter Kas with a piece of an orange, sometimes I drunk 0'0 alcohol beer, there is one brand here with an acceptable taste! I didn't felt that time like a punishment. I fact, now I drink less alcohol than before.
