I am a Kashmiri Pandit and my mother personally knows Achint and his family. She also immediately called her friend (Achint's sister) as soon as she saw this. The acount that Achint has given is NOTHING compared to how horrifyingly his father was assassinated. He was tortured the entire night (with cigarette butts etc.), his house was surrounded by Islamic terrorists and his father was later found in a dry well the next day. He was so young when this happened and my mother recalled everything as soon as she heard what I was watching! I am absolutely shattered by how some people did not let him talk about his viewpoints. This Middle Ground video represents the political situation of the country very well nowadays and how absolutely DIFFICULT it has become to express viewpoints and even state facts. At the same time, I am nothing but PROUD of Achint and the way he spoke. He was an absolute gentleman, so soft spoken and my heart cries for him because he was surrounded with such insensitive people. THIS IS EXACTLY what infuriates Kashmiri Pandits in this country. I am glad we still take our space, even though exactly like some people here would not want us to do that.

I hated how they were all just silent when they came to sit down. It's one thing to be tongue tied but how did NOBODY even say 'I am sorry for your loss'? And when Kabir eventually said it he was criticised! Saying 'I am sorry for your loss' is NOT the same as taking blame!!! It's a way of expressing sympathy!!!! If her parents were welcoming to her husband, then she wouldn't see her husband in that light and view Muslim violence towards Hindus as justifiable but Hindu actions towards Muslims as not. The point is not that Hindu actions should be justifiable, the pointis that all actions should be portrayed as bad, and both go fundamentally against the religion they are supposed to be championing

13:46 actually we do have evidence of existence of Lord Ram's Temple before mosque replaced it. Even the archaeological survey and evidence was shown by muslim archaeologist (KK Muhammed) and he has accepted after the survey and collecting all evidence of base and pillars of temples that there was actually a temple before there was mosque.

However, since you went further, I'd have to say I disagree with where people think they have no responsibility to be part of a positive difference, especially if they belong to a group that throughout history has been a source of violence. You and your family is a victim of hatred of Kashmiri muslims on Kashmiri Hindus. This shouldn’t have happened. It is the combined hatred of one community on another that made this happen, it is not one person’s doing.

Apologising and being apologetic are 2 different aspects. Feeling apologetic does not mean that you directly caused a problem but you feel remorse and shame for what happened to the other person. I find it strange when Pallavi started discussing about how Hindus should apologise or feel remorse for Mosques being burnt. Why should a Hindu who has not caused a Mosque to burn be made to feel apologetic? The rules change when it’s the other way round isn’t it? Double standards much 🤷‍♀️ A middle ground can only ever be attained when a community is objective and is able to introspect within rather than solely celebrating victimhood. If someone from your community makes a mistake or commits a crime in the name of the religion that is wrong and that action would have ruined someone’s life so yes be apologetic about it and condemn what that person from your community did. That is the mature, objective and truly unbiased way to deal with sensitivity.

But I am sure that so many of the Hindus will never agree over declining the rights of any other minority and help them grow n develop when we see them around us, be it in schools, clgs, workplaces etc. But still the narrative is being pushed in a way that shows such Hindus dont exist(as I mentioned above), I do condemn the extremist Hindu class and we dont support them at all. Pallavi reduced the takeaway from this conversation. The idea of Middle Ground is to have contrasting points of view whereas hers was “friendly fire” within the context of the discussion. Also Jubilee totally skipped over what the Kashmiri Pandit genocide was, sticking to a damn bland Wikipedia entry describing the community.

As an Afghan Muslim, it was heartbreaking to hear about Achint's past but it was absolutely infuriating to listen to people's reactions to that. Like how hard is it to empathize with someone who has had to ho through something as painful as that? Kudos to you Achint for your patience and for not hating us Muslims. Respect. I am indian and in my college there are many Afghani studying engineering , we love them a lot . The time was hard for them when Taliban took over but we tried as much to make them feel home . I LOVE AFGHANIS SOO MUCH

I could relate a bit to brother Achint's pain. During 1992-93 Bombay riots my uncle's hand was cut , he was 14 years old boy and other relative was murdered. We don't hate Muslims but there is mistrust. I cannot imagine Brother Achint's trauma. Sorry for your loss. May we have peace.

Hindus have suffered disproportionately more than any community in Indian subcontinent, just see the situation in Pak and Bangladesh. When I studied in mumbai in school i remember one of my troubled classmates who had to change schools due to psychological reasons. She was elder by few years and her uncle and mother tried hard to make her fit . She was very apprehensive and wouldn't talk. Few years ago connected with her on Facebook . We chatted and turns out she is super friendly . I asked her why was she soo weird in school and what i heard has broken my heart . As a young child her father , her uncle and grandfather were chopped and thrown in a well and she and her sister was molested and rape. The twin sister couldn't survive because her orifices bled and got infected .her mother and aunties faced similar torture with her aunty dying due to internal haemorrhage and mother gangraped. It was a miracle how she and her mother escaped and reached Jammu to her mamaji. She was soo traumatised that for years she couldn't go to school . She started 4th grade with us after long break in mumbai where her other mamaji lived . We always felt she was too tall too fair and too older than us when we were kids and she was picked up a lot by bullies but hats off to whatever she survived

Pallavi has the sirname 'Sharma' which is also a hindu sirname. But as she married a muslim and and has issues with the religion she was born in, she should change her sirname, to a muslim sirname. She's also a part of a very hypocrite political party here in India INC, which pays less attention to religious rights of the majority religious group here in Indian .
