Regarding the soft tyre being used on the 2019 car - I was actually using the ultra soft compound, but for whatever reason the graphical version was the soft tyre.

it's mostly the steering lock or the lack thereof that held the modern cars back. WIthout that I think the modern cars would be better. There's no need for them to have that extra lock in modern circuits.
@DimitriMoreira
@DimitriMoreira 4 года назад
@@Shadow1986 also if you look at Jimmy split times, you can see how he was -12s on the Red bull 2019, then after his mistake his time went up to -8s and he finished the lap with -10s. He could've gone 2 seconds quicker in the 2019 car judging by his own split sectors alone. He was faster than the "race lap" time of 1:14. The 1:10 was out of question.
@DimitriMoreira
@DimitriMoreira 4 года назад
@@redbarred13 that's not entirely true. Ferrari knew exactly what was going on. The F2004 was an evolution of the F2002, not the F2003. Ferrari had a magnificent team full of top people at their prime. This isn't a coincidence, it's science. Everyone would have been WC on that 2002 and that 2004 cars. This version of the track is going to be slower no matter what because it still has the sharper version of the corner on the back side of the swimming pool. That corner is much more rounded off now, and I'm fairly certain both of the times you're using as comparison are with that corner cut.

Jimmy boy, the lap record is on the newer Monaco circuit, the one with the revamped swimming pool section. So much momentum you only need to maximize the attack instead of braking nicely for the older one Of course you can't beat it with this one Jimmy! Please, just do it with the newer Monaco circuit. I think one thing the real F1 cars have that I dont know how well modeled it is in game is how the nose dips when turning, especially at high steering locks. This means they get way more front downforce and can take the slower corners a lot quicker. I also dont think the FH2019 is as fast as a real F1 car.

You're too modest Jimmy, we know there's even faster sim-racers out there but your pace is already mind blowing. I tried to beat your average lap time on the Nürburgring GP circuit on GT3 (on a ACC race you streamed recently), and got nowhere near it, with the same car. (Not the same game, I tried it on PC2, but the track and setup can't be that far off each other) I may be a noob overall when it comes to Sim Racing, but still... The difference is humongous. So as I said, you're being modest.

that's because no one could actually drive it, you'd probably need to wear a g suit like a fighter pilot just to not pass out (it might also twist your neck off) and a crash at the speeds this could achieve no matter how safe the car is is most likely fatal. A really fun concept though

@@jiujitsumonkey1 Acrobatic aircraft pull upwards of 13G with a pilot wearing a baseball cap. Sustained G will have you, temporary will not necessarily. I suspect the main reason is similar, though not as dramatic. Going round a corner at that speed would hurt. Moreover, I suspect we haven't got the tyre technology to keep it safe. However, it'd still be interesting to see, even if no-one could drive it 10/10ths.

I haven't driven any of those cars around Monaco, but on f1 2014 in qualifying, I once did a 1:15.5 in a Mercedes. For some context, I beat Nico Rosberg's pole time by four tenths of a second.

The funny thing is: during the season after the 919 Evo set it's record in Spa, F1 obliterated that time again and reclaimed their status as fastest Race cars out there. Although the up to date F1 cars are this bloody fast, that speed doesn't come as natural as with the 2004 cars. At least from what I can gather from sims. I recon the weight does play an important role as well as things like DRS and ERS deployment, which makes the annual cars very special in that regard.
