Can I Beat Unicorn Overlord Before Saving Scarlett? 

Our hero becomes the unicorn overlord, our friends get badass new clothes and the world becomes purple. Best ending ever!

It is so insane how many details they threw on this version of the map, Galerius and Baltro getting top billing in the bad ending’s credits got me laughing. Great video, i could never have the patience to grind that much lol.

You have succeeded the "neglectful boyfriend" challenge run. Now it's time for the "overprotective boyfriend" run, where you have to save scarlett immediatly without stopping to fight ANYTHING.

Interesting conclusion to Scarlett’s story. Even if you beat the game normally there are some cutscenes showing what happens to her up until the point you rescue her. It would definitely. be worrying if you went thirty hours after the last one without any updates.

I notice that Norbelle team is very similar to the starting cast of characters you get when you start the game. A fighter/vanguard: Lex A soldier/sergeant: Chloe A hoplite/legionnaire: Hordrick A sainted knight: Josef (since I don’t think they have any generic Paladin the game just use a generic Saint knight for it which is fine since visually they give the same look and effect)

Well this video went places I was not expecting. Since you get periodical cutscenes with Alain worrying about Scarlett, I always thought there would be a sort of time limit of how many maps cleared/days pass before they kill her off and she becomes unrecruitable altogether. So this is ..... fascinating to see

The reason I didn't wanna do True Zenorian was because I didn't believe getting the bad end before Scarlett on that difficulty was possible. After watching this & paying close attention. I felt motivated to try and complete the challenge. It took me several days of nonstop grinding, but it felt satisfying to actually beat the challenge!

Uhhhh spoilers I guess Norbelle piloting Scarlett's dead body in Endgame is incredible! And of course, having skipped the entire story, Alain still believes that his ring counteracts "mind-control". It's crazy to me that there's new dialogue that no one in their right mind would ever hear. And the Bloodstained Ribbon, ooo! She kept her personal ribbon, but now instead of healing allies, it increases the potency of her HP draining attacks??? Whose blood do you think it is? I imagine it represents Scarlett's own. This really feels like the most complete version of the bad ending. I'm awestruck.

Xd I can’t believe this video actually showed me what I was actually missing to finish the class registry. I did not expect that there would be a unit here of all places that I would need to unlock.

So, I'm gonna maybe make you cry here because there's a huge shortcut to level grinding that you didn't know about. It's a method for beating level 40 maps very, very early. It only requires a team with a Griffin Knight leader that also includes a Sellsword, and it's built around their valar skills. Griffin Knight's Hastened Call lets you immediately fly around everything and sprint to the boss of each map. Then you use Sellsword's Summon Warriors, which scales to the level of the map. So you will be summoning a level 40 green unit whenever you utilize it. The trick is in damaging each boss down to being extremely weak so your team can get the last hit and collect the experience. Depending on the map, 2 or more green units may be needed to set this up. So you'll have to use some Corn Ash. You can also use other valar skills to damage the boss (Arrow Rain, Wild Rush, etc.). And you often have to use items to negate assists, boost damage, etc. Once you figure out a setup that works, kill the boss with your unit and watch the level-ups come rolling in. Depending on your level going in, you can get a crazy amount of level-ups all at once.

The Pre-Scarlett ending comes with a bit of a snag if you've seen the "True" Ending: (SPOILERS of course) So does this mean Baltro doesn't betray Galerius' ass and lets him rule over Fevrith just because? Or did Galerius wise up and pre-emptively kill him somehow for his trechery? Baltro wants those lost souls. There's no way he'd let the "original" plan slide.

There's another way to claim Sorm early on. Sellsword's Valor ability, Summon Mercenaries scales to stage level. I managed to win (after like 20 tries) by flying Berenice to the post with Fran and watching as the mercs chunked most of the boss' HP before dying. I rushed my unit in with the double XP item and they gained ~36k XP for getting the kill, launching them to the mid-20s (except Alain, Rookie Egg put him at ~31). It only took 20 tries because I kept resetting to get the boss kill with my team instead of the mercs

Your video was really compelling ! I thought I would never found someone with so much dedication to the game as I had, but you hands down beat me, with this challenge !! You're not a True Zenoiran but a True Cornian ! 😅 By the way, it's so reassuring to witness that the devs had anticipated the possibility to not rescue Scarlett and create a specific version of the story for that. And it's so ridiculous to read comments (not here) of people claiming the story is "mid"... Pff.. I enjoyed every second of the game, just made one playthrough and finished it a couple of days ago), but this game has been an obsession in a way, I haven't played anything else since the first contact with demo... more than one month ago !!! Anyway, sorry for the long post, but, thank you for your investment and your efforts to prove the game IS challenging ! I'll be there for more !! PS : I don't even know what to play now that I completed it... I feel so "EMPTY"... I will miss them all already... especially my Maiden, Berenice !!!!

Nice video. I was wondering a lot about the "No Scarlet" experience after reading about it and this gave a good look into that. For some Challenge run suggestions - All-Guys or All-Gals run came to mind first. Not sure how challenging they would be even on True Zenoiran - All-Gals would definitely need to have a "fudged" start to get to a point where you even have the units for one full all-gal team.

Very interesting run. Trinity Rain being so strong is as expected, as I had heard of builds using it. I think perhaps a strong team with it is a unit with high initiative enhancing everyone's initiative (I think Alain has a skill that does that but could be wrong), then a druid with both sorcerous connection and the cast time reduction, the soldiers guaranteed critical hit, and then on the magic user themself, the accessory that lets them recast the spell again. I'm unsure if that bypasses charge time but if it does that would be very strong. Also yeah, this being intended for the class registry is neat too. It was the only class variant I was missing on my run of the game. And to add to this, I was missing 2 archive entries which I think are related to this event. 45 hours for this is interesting too, was expecting it to be longer but it is something manageable spread over like 2 weeks, if a bit dull. Also I find the bit about Josef gaining a bunch of stats the last few levels interesting too. Because he definitely fell off but then I found success in using him in a unit as strictly a healer, which gave the unit a lot more longevity.

I legit had no idea Tatiana was even a character and I thought I literally explored all of Cornia except the final Mission. Like WTF how did I not run into that quest

Unrelated to the video, but Unicorn Overlord surprisingly got a new patch nintendoeverything.com/unicorn-overlord-update-announced-version-1-04-patch-notes/ That site doesn’t go into specifics, but one of the changes is that if Virginia equips 2 Shields, the shield with a lower Defense boost gets half of that number added to her Phys Def stat. And Swordmasters get the exact same thing but with 2 Swords and their Phys Atk stat

Thanks to your video, I got the guts to unlock Norbelle in the class registry, and at the same time, do the bad ending. Only on Story difficulty though. Was able to complete it on Rank B. Class promotions make a big difference because of their added skills and AP/PP. Didn't need to do the trinity magic strat. (I'm not willing to mine those divine shards lmao) Tried it first without promotions but it was hell because of not enough dps. So I farmed renown until promotion is available.

Congratulations on doing this challenge. I've skimmed through the video as I'm curious of trying this on True Zenorian difficulty without many spoilers. Edit - Don't know why I asked about TZ when this is TZ to begin with. Daunted by the hour requirement.

I was pretty exhausted with this game but did ultimately beat it (on expert). There was a real tension in this game for me that made it less fun because I could have just beat it with 2 or 4 fixed teams but it would have been too easy and repetitive, but then making up a goal to try to keep most of the team levelled and participating was exhausting in all the item swapping and purposefully trying to push in weak teams for exp.

I'm just in it for the art but this and the SRT games on the switch is my only reason to get a switch lite >..< thanks for featuring this vw success~ here's to hoping for more.

Gotta respect the devs for forseeing someone would try this and adjusting for it!

It also seems that if you complete this on your first playthrough, you unlock True Zenoirian. So it considers the game completed for that, at least. I mean, the grinding to get to this point makes sense.

This video is really interesting. I like how you explained all your journey until the end, how you make your choices about your recruits, build your teams and so on, it was really interesting to watch this. But I have to admit that something escapes me: how did you make your back-line team wait until the front line had completed all its actions before making them start attacking? It's actually really interesting to see we can do that too. Now, I want to challenge you to beat this map with characters lvl 10-15 max. I was able to beat it with my characters around this lvl except Galerius that I wasn't able to deal a single damage, lmao. But I wonder if this is possible to beat him at this lvl. Of course you're free to chose the difficulty you want but let's be honest, I did it in Story mode and it was already so DAMN HARD.

A skill that the sellwords have is to call reinforcements and what cool about it is that they scale to the enemy level not your level meaning that they can be use help clear late game maps if use well

I am currently trialing this on the easiest game mode because i couldn't do it on the hardest one Haha. XD i'm not doing as much prep as you did but im curious to see how differently it would play for me.

Instead of the "pre-Scarlett challenge", might I suggest calling it the Norbelle run? Also, you can get her entry in the library just by watching that alternate cutscene and then immediately bailing from the fight.

Its crazy that you put all this work just to get a bad ending. The bad ending was the first one i got also i didn't want to marry anyone and just fight and win with my own power and knowledge.

i will be honest... nice of the devs to think of potential scenarios.... like beating the game without getting scarlet and how it would affect things

I play in TZ difficulty i'm actually farming the first step, i take 5h for 1200->3000 reputation (rankA) so if i farm 6h more in the first step i can get the unicorn sword until battle for sworm 😂. But now i farm divine cristal and it's really long because i sacrifice nobody and the rng it's really painfull u can play 20 ans get nothing but if you keep farming u get 12 in 8 minute. Never stop if you get one 😅

And I thought just bumrushing beating the game early on story mode felt hard in the Galerius battle...

Fun Fact: The word "Knecht" is a German word relating to agricultural workers during the middle ages. For some weird reason, it is also the origin of the English word "Knight" even though the German equivalent would be "Ritter". In other words: it is perfectly acceptable to pronounce Knecht as Knight.
