Just finished a repair today. Drive chain was broken and I couldn’t get the wheels off. Took a cutoff wheel and cut an access hole in the bottom. Cleaned out the grease, removed the old broken chain and fished in a new one. Works perfectly. I didn’t cover the access hole. It’s an old tiller that works and when it quits I’ll scrap it but for now it’s running and tilling just fine.
2 yrs later and this vid is still relevant. I picked up the 6hp version and the water in the box is sooooooooo common. In the Tear apart process now.... Hopefully I can still order parts for this ol' Tank
Great job Bryan I hope you get Otis a treat for cheerleading the job works nice and now I can't wait tiller you and sis get your garden planted and tiller then good job have a great day and i got to be growing for now but thanks for the video. ✌👴
It is 17 in. 5 HP. It just says craftsman on it. Don't know if it's the craftsman Ii or not. They probably are pretty much the same. But I don't know for sure.
I have a husky crt900 with the same transmission. The gears select fine and the tiller runs but it makes a horrible grinding noise when moving, even in neutral. Any idea what might be doing this?
Sounds like the gears aren't meshing up completely. Mine looked like the gears were only matching up on the edge of the gear teeth. Yours is probably doing the same and the teeth are getting worn down. But can't say for sure. May have to take it apart and investigate. See what is worn out and get some replacement parts.
Pulled mine out to till, shift is frozen on mine too. Ran it just couple months ago worked fine always been a hassle to shift though. Hell of a lot of disassembly just to straighten out a shifting problem. Despite always keeping it covered when left outside or under the shed. Hard to understand how it got enough water to rust solid. Think I'll add a spray hole or something to give it a good dose of preservative every so often and over winter. Thanks for the sneak peek I just got mine down to the chassis as the sun went down today.
@@bryansloesshillshomestead4523 Yes I may go so far as to drill and tap a zerk fitting on that collar and pack it full as a seal after each use. This is something I prefer not to be in the habit of doing so prevention is chief in my thoughts.
Hi Bryan, I knew you would get it working. Uncle Jim and I are very proud of you. Your going to love using it on your garden. Love to you too. Aunt 💕NonnaGrace
Hello, wow that is so good. Be very proud of what you did. I remember my dad always fixing things himself because that is how he grew up and he didn't want to spend the money for someone else to fix it. Even when we built onto my parents house in 1978 he did alot of the work even though we didn't know much lol. We learned along the way. Great job Bryan. Thank you for sharing, God bless stay safe and have a wonderful day
I like how you had all the parts and pieces arranged carefully and set out around you like a jigsaw puzzle ready to fit together😊Not surprised you got it running, good deal! 👍
