Hi Will I am a retired electrical engineer I wish I had a pound for every multi connector I have cursed at in my working life, if there is a multi connector any where in site, test it first. Really interesting vlog, glad you persevered and got it sorted. I had every confidence in you.

Personally, Will, for that, was an excellent vlog. Great content especially the scrap yard walk about and your fault finding on Mr Van. By now I hope you have a fully functioning van and installed the window switches too 😊

I loved mooching around scrap yards. My first car was an Escort Mk 1 basic. I went around all the local scrappers looking for instruments from the more upmarket models and fitted them to mine. I understood that the wiring harnesses and binnacles would be the same to save on manufacturing costs. Also pocketed loads of bulbs and fuses. Happy days.

I used to work in a scrapyard when I was younger. I absolutely loved it, the smell of gearbox oil and all the things you find. You'd be surprised what some people keep in their gloveboxes...

Your reverse working accelerator reminded me of many years ago, my husband ‘fixed’ my twin tub washing machine. 😆😆When you switched the washer part on, the spinner worked and when you put the lid down on the spinner, the washing started.😂😂

Your gut instinct said it was wiring, and you were right Will. Strange how when you left the van everything was working fine, then to come back and have throttle issue, fuel gauge, and those other warning lights.

Ah, there you go, you found your type of sweet shop😄 I bet you were there for hours and hours looking for the parts you need, and go "woo! this part come in handy, that cable I will need in future, oh! this is can replace electrical part in boat, and so on and on.... I know you😜 I'm glad that you finally fix the on-off switch board at the side of passenger door👍

I'd spend hours in the scrapyard every weekend when I was a lad. Finding parts to upgrading my wrecks on the road. I still like looking around but they are hard to find.

Good persistence, nothing more frustrating than tracking down a bad wire or connector in a mess of spaghetti like that. Some years back I started using dielectric grease on terminal connectors every time I pulled them apart and put them back together, it's an easy way to eliminate a faulty connection, works good when you hook up trailer connectors as well. Just be careful to not let it gooze over to an adjoining terminal as it is conductive and could cause a short. And no, it doesnt do a damn thing for toenail fungus, and now my toes keep shorting out when they rub up against each other... the mental image is free of charge, Will. Good luck, and no, not a boring vlog at all!

Me and a buddy had a toolbox that we converted into an insulated cooler so we could sneak in our own drinks. 😂 You are going to hate yourself if you get rid of Mr. Van. Just think about how long it will take for you to learn all the quirks and idiosyncrasies of another vehicle. Better off knowing what you have got. Keep up the good work!

phew , that looked hard work mentally , wires can be a real pain , especially when they've been chewed by mice , but surely they can't be that tasty to them lol .

Absolutely fascinating! Love the puzzle solving. Reminds me of listening to my dad and uncles chatting about this and that problem that they solved and how they got there etc. I thought it was wiring. Didn't have any actual knowledge to back that up mind you. Pure conjecture. Hoping the next vlog shows a much happier Mr. Van!

Not boring in the least. I have a similar vehicle (Master) and followed this with interest. Well done! I miss the old style breakers yards, presumably declined as a result of elf and safety.

A visit to the goldmine is always helpful has saved me a small fortune in the past. I have never made a loss on selling bikes either, cant say the same for cars though, trouble is now though all the new bikes are just an electronic nightmare gone are the simple days. My finger are crossed 🤞 for doctor Will and the fate of Mr Van.

Find the ECU on Mr Van, trace wires, there is no way you can have a crank sensor, throttle position sensor and the Cold start/Heater plug circuit all go wrong at the same time. Either you have had water in the ECU or the wiring plugs/harness need looking at (most likely cause) I expect the ECU now has all sorts of fault codes stored in it that now need clearing, have you got an ODB reader?Use this to read the codes and clear them. Hopefully this will reset the cold start light or at least tell you what is going on.

40 years ago you would have had it figured out in 5 minutes. Cars are so complicated these days, it takes an engineering degree just to change the oil. I hope you get MrVan straightened out

Hi Will you said was wiring you found the fault looked like a spkice wire do would affect multiple systems. That soldering job 👌 i have the terminals and seals in a bag at home for that 😅.... Pain up the ar se are these faults. That scrap yard was old svhool fir sure, no way can you even walk around them nowadays 🙄 Let alone take stuff off them fuses in yer pocket in the olde days 😅😅😅😅 I really do hope you've sorted it now 👍 at least you're aware of symptoms of this fault. Hi Will, it might help if you can borrow a fault code reader and erase the previous fault codes that are stored in the ECU, if you fit a new part the ECU still thinks that the same fault is still present until you clear the previous codes, just a thought, also the plug on connection that had a broken wire that you soldered they can be de-pinned, slide a thin pin or a paper clip that has been hammered Flat down the side of the connector and the pin pulls out - Useful video showing how ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w3OrsLbkB0A.html .....probably make it easier for next time, sorry if you already know just trying to help, good luck hope you can fix the van and save a few quid.

Not that I would want your entire channel to be about you working on Mr. Van but, I guess it's just the relaxing, methodical way you do things. I can't stand having a vehicle that I can't trust, especially on longer trips. You find yourself jumping at every little knock or strange noise that sounds out of character, worrying that you are about to find yourself stranded on the side of the road again. Be aware of hanging a ton of keys in the contact. Its wil damage and wearing out the contoct slot, plus by an accident its not safe on ure richt knee. Its Just an advice. 😊😊😊
