My son seen his first mower tractor pull yesterday and now is firmly convinced he wants to try. Great mower content and gives me some insight on the early stages of planning on a pulling mower. Thank you!

Absolutely build something with those! Love what your mind comes up with. Some apocalyptic machine would be cool.

Was hoping for at least a wisp of tire smoke, but no dice. Not enough wheelspeed obviously

The first mower is a beast, those were pretty good mowers. It would be one to either keep and use to mow places where you don’t want to take the new Gravely, or (in my area at least) you could probably get $500-$700. They kind of have a following. Excellent video. Maybe someday we’ll see you tinker with the Econoline van. 😉 one of my favorite vehicles in history.
@misfittoys8883
@misfittoys8883 10 месяцев назад
I was actually using it today to mow around the vehicles in my field actually works pretty decent for that because the deck is kind of low profile and gets under the vehicles a bit better. A lot slower than the Gravely though

Funny thing about those first gen Econoline trucks-in my younger days, I hated them. Thought they were hideous looking. I have obviously changed my opinion about them- probably because they are so bizzare looking and you dont see them very often anymore. Still dont really care for the van version though

Hi Ron! Mundane or not reviving dead junked mowers (to me) makes for good entertainment! As soon as I saw the fuel leaking out from under the Kohler on the John Deere I was literally screaming “head gasket!!” to you! The broken key and blown head gasket is common on those. And a Signature 2000 mower! Good grief! Never thought I’d see one of those again! My aunt and uncle bought one brand new from Montgomery Ward when I was an early teen. I went with my uncle to help load it in the back of their 1974 LTD country squire station wagon (that car was a beast!) I mowed their yard many times with it, and it felt like a quivering flimsy pile of crap. The saying “cheap, and so is the price” applied there. Anyhoo, thanks for a good episode, if I had a mud mower or the means to make one I’d go off roading with ya!

Once I started editing the footage and got to see what was going on from the camera angle, it SEVERELY pushed my diagnosic opinion to the bad head gasket theory. After that, I HAD to pull the head off if for no other reason than to satisfy my curiosity. I will get a new head gasket put in it soon and try again. After using the cheesy mower to pull the Deere to the shop and discovering how soggy the response of the transaxle was, I had no further desire to try and play on it!

I have some vid shot of that from late spring/early summer. Started doing rust repair on drivers floor and ended up cutting out WAAAAAY more than I anticipated. Have not managed to find time to get back to it yet

I bought a 300 dollar crappy poulan mower because I was paying to have my yard mowed, and it just became too expensive and I didn’t like how the guy was doing it. Because of that crappy mower I’ve learned more about a Briggs and Stratton than I ever wanted to lol Honestly though, anything with an engine isn’t just totally awful. I’d honestly rather work on it and do dumb stuff with it than use it to cut the grass lol

99% of the time carbs have to be cleaned to run right The old inline engines have sorry fuel pumps and I hate rebuilding them
@misfittoys8883
@misfittoys8883 10 месяцев назад
I was rather suprised at not having to mess with carbs. The last mower would try to stall if jostled very much, so it definitely needs a good cleaning, but ran good enough to make it move

There is one vid already of me shortening the Superduty frame and plopping body on it. I teally want to get back to it but other stuff always gets in the way. Been collecting parts for it though.

Seems like a lot of work to just hit the clutch and start it. Those mtds are absolutely junk. I take engines off and junk the rest. Tires aren’t even worth keeping.
