Kelly get back at them by giving Jasmine only the first half of the recipe and end it with “Katie check under your seat and do the rest” making them both be in the dark on the final result. Heck it could even have the dish be translated from the phrase “A Dish Best Served Cold” to reference it being revenge.

The name Banh Xu Xe actually derived from the word Banh Phu The, meaning "Husband and wife cake" so besides the stickiness, the name also shows that the dessert is for weddings.

I speak Portuguese as my first language and, in some fairy tales such as the Alibaba one (I think that's how you write it), they say "Abre-te Sésamo!" to open a secret door or something, which literally translates to "Open Sesame" 😂. I am pretty sure it's the same thing for Spanish and perhaps other languages as well...

OMG, I love this series and I have seen all of the Videos. I'm Vietnamese too so this is the best Lunar New Year gift ever!!! I have to admit Vietnamese recipes are weird because we don't use cream, butter, all-purpose flour,etc. Oh and besides this cake, we also have another cake that traditionally is served at weddings called "Bánh Phu Thê" which means "Husband and Wife cake".

I made this myself and thought it would be fun to share :) Original recipe: SIX LAYER CHOCOLATE DREAM: 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 2. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Turn the machine to low and mix well. 3. Slowly pour in the vegetable oil, scraping down the sides as needed. 4. Next, add buttermilk and eggs, mixing on medium speed until all ingredients are incorporated and the batter is smooth. 5. Slowly add hot coffee and when all is combined, pour into two greased 9″ cake pans. 6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. 7. Let cool on racks. 8. To make the frosting, wash out the mixing bowl, add softened butter and powdered sugar, and cream together until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. 9. Scrape down bowl, add cocoa powder and corn syrup, and mix for another 2 minutes. 10. Add hot water and mix until combined. 11.
