Hey guys, I say this in the video but this was a bit of an experimental format/idea and I don't have much experience with this prestige. I am interested if people like this sort of content idea occasionally, but be cool about the backseating please. Can't be an expert on stuff until you try it.
Hey Grant, unsure if you know already but if you're looking for a new Series, Archipelago have completely overhauled their SC2 system. It's basically unrecognizable from before, including all campaigns and a ton of bonus content that wasn’t featured in your original playthrough
Hey Grant, I'm a bit confused what with daylight savings happening recently in my country and you generally taking some rest days whenever you finish a campaign. Is the upload time for today's video gonna be the usual schedule from here forward or was there some kind of delay? Thanks for the amazing content btw, enjoyed seeing you do this.
Hey Grant, this content is cool. Of course mastering all aspects of SC2 is impossible, don't worry. And I wouldn't mind more. But if you're looking for content outside of campaigns, may I propose the "Mercs" arcades ? Full name is Mercenaries in Space. Great RPG - SC mix, with some story and really cool missions. It is even better with a friend, but harder to organize.
16:42 might be a bit nit-picky, but one of the reasons why Just Die is so threatening is because of its synergies with things like spellcasters. Reviving resets the cooldowns and restores energy for all units, even the Hybrid who normally does not regen energy.
You met this bug once before on Niadra Mission in twitch trolls; if you lose a mission with a cutscene you have to either start the rewind before it starts or after the cutscene finishes otherwise the game stays broken(hotkeys, camera panning, cursor etc are possible things that break). If the clock reaches the point the cutscene would have finished it ususally restores the normal state again.
as a somewhat experienced best buddy-stetman player here's some tips: always overcharge a stetelite when there's a fight coming cause overcharged stetelites are invulnerable to everything for the duration of the overcharge guaranteeing your a stetzone. zerglings and banelings are amazing with this prestige, you basically want to have units dying as gary gains stacking hp regen and attack speed whenever he collects spare parts and lings and banes drop twice the normal amount because of loveable little rascals, resulting in zerglings giving 2 and banleings giving 4 zergling spareparts (aka every baneling instantly ressurects as zergling once it blows up and giving gary a big bonus and you can set the rally point of the spawning pool on gary to have them automatically run to him once they respawn). also you only need 2 evo chambers cause stetmann can research 2 upgrades simultaneously on any building. not blaming you for not knowing some of that stuff when you haven't played it in a long time, just wanna give some tips here. anyway good content. looking forward to more^^
great advices i would add to switch zones more HUGS are so important and u should never spend as much time in blue one during fight even more if u have a lot of zerglings. also teleport is great to defend and return to main obective fast as gary has 2 stacks of every ability. im personally not a fan of ultra in my opinion ton of zeglings plus some hydra are easier to replace. during calmer moments there should be some time for a violet zone not too much but few seconds would do good for zergling energy
@@orohd5909 yeah you should technically always be swapping between your 3 configs. most of the time I play in fast and only go to hugs and juice when I need it. Super Gary in the early stages can clear so much alone that it's pretty easy to build up a death army behind his early game power. I even have a few mastery points in faster building speed so I can have my hive out by the time gary enters the field so I can immediately turn him into super gary. rushing hive also gets you faster stetelite charges so that's a double benefit. Hydras are definitely a good unit to complement a ling/bane army and get some backline firepower with insane anti air damage. ultras are fun but they are better for the oil baron prestige. if you got the money for them you can still throw in a few for style points though, generally you want units that die easily so gary gets his attack speed so he can turn his 90 damage weapon into a machine gun and murder everything that is still alive after the banelings blow up
13:58 Fun fact, Hardened Shield only works if the Mecha Zerglings have energy, so the energy zone is also very important. Of course you can just run in new zerglings with full energy too. :D 17:34 To me it looked like the lava did more of the damage.
Those zerglings died not because of no energy, but because they were fighting outside the zone. If you play a not p1, overcharge a stattelite before engaging - it makes it invincible, leaving healing for zerglings
@@PeterZaitcev?? Hydras still shoot when they run out of missles. They just deal less damage to air. You can even see in the same video. He lost his hydras there because he microed poorly, and most of them just died to lava and few to pirate ship's charge
Grant, you should definitely use energy zone out-of-combat because that's the only way to regenerate energy for your mecha-swarm which is required to use overpowered abilities like zergling hardened shields, banelings barrier, or hydralisk AA-missiles
At that point, just pick your mutators directly. It'd be the Starcraft equivalent of "set seed" speedruns. That way picking the lineup becomes part of the challenge and the strategy, and you avoid the obnoxious endless rerolling.
@@Nurk0m0rath the first devour used on hybrid triggers only the just die, only on its second death/devour will the nuke on death trigger, if fast enough with leap ability can dodge the nuke
It defently can clear this combo, like he was so close, if he didnt lose gary those 2 times i am sure he would have able to do it, saying that stetman p2 cant complete this combo is pure copium On the other hand p3 dehaka would be insane in terms of difficulty, you would do better with p2 dehaka, but it is probably posible to complete it with both
Stetmann is one of the quirkier commanders who definitely needs a lot more reading and studying than the others to get the most out of the units, and there's a lot you just don't know about their nuances until you play around a bunch. Even missing a few vital pieces of information about how the commander works you did fantastic here, made it so close to the end and if the rewind had worked correctly I think you could have gotten it for sure. I am a hardcore Stet main, I love playing him so much in co-op. I'd love to see you keep trying out co-op challenges and get to know all the commanders and prestiges in the process too! While you're trying out new things, have you ever given thought to making a video on how to get good at starcraft, from the perspective of a campaign player? I know versus and campaign take wildly different approaches to be good at them, and all the guides I've seen are either ancient or just for versus players. I want to get better at doing campaign challenge runs and would love to learn from the challenge run master
imho, i quite like these shorter challenge episodes, they can break the sometimes monotonous back to back episodes of a Mod series (though they are not bad on their own), it would be interesting in seeing how each factions could work in these kinds of challenge mods.
Stetman banes with full upgrades have a shield. They also get extra damage from unused energy, so you may want to fully charge them for maximum damage. However there is two issues: - they jump - once they initiate the jump, they will die on impact. So they are very prone to overkill
Stetmann trick, but with a 17/13 split for his tier 3, you can, with practice, and proper timing, morph your structures in time to transform Gary as he first spawns from his room. Though frankly unless you're just going for the meme, I recommend putting most/all points into Morph rate. While sure you will eventually have all the structures you want, Stetellites on their own come back so fast you already will be spamming them out their.
I really enjoyed seeing this as an alternative form of content! It was amazingly close to a win on the first run; I think you'd have a great shot at making it through even some of the rougher mutator combos after a few playthroughs to test out strategies.
I completed this challenge with 2 minutes to spare (with just my main and natural). The VOD is up on my channel. Note: If you want to resume from replay, you have to do so before you get the "DEFEAT" message. Otherwise you won't be able to select your units.
I would love to see the campaign played with the coop commanders replacing the ingame units. Imagine seeing coop raynor fighting coop mensk. The talderiem have accaul talderem units, etc.
I thoroughly enjoyed the episode, I'm a huge fan of co-op, and I loved your comment about people at the end. 11/10 would watch at least a dozen more of these
Tips for Stetmann: Generally, you want to rush hive before anything else to get Super Gary immediately as he spawns. Structure morph rate is best for this. On Rifts to Korhal, you'll want to get banelings for the first wave since they refund the basic zergling immediately. You generally don't need more than one evo chamber because they can research 2 upgrades at once. Anti Air is handled by Gary. If there are lots of air units in attack waves, you can go Spire and get Corruptors with their aoe ability upgrade to support him. If it's primarily ground waves, just go mass Zergling. There's no need for anything else. Hydras aren't great, though they are technically an option. Also, your drones can repair in a pinch and your strictures will burn down if you're not careful, so keep that in mind.
I'd love to see more coop content, it's my favourite mode in SC2! There's so much variety in the commanders, prestiges, missions and mutators that makes it a gold mine for great video content!
Though they are very long and talkative, if you are looking for things to record (between projects?) The Odyssey campaign missions in the custom campaign section of the arcade is a fun play! There is a lot of innovation in its occasional cover mechanics and mission designs. (Just be prepared to play... mostly just terran.)
A good attempt, this was fun to watch. I'd like to see another attempt of this with the same mutations as Grant was so close. Maybe with knowing what went wrong, he can improve upon his choices and actions and succeed.
Might be a dumb question Grant but do you record in .mkv or .mp4? If not mkv I highly recommend using that, it stores all the video data at the START of the video which means even through crashes or bluescreens or pc issues, the video is still usable unlike mp4 which just die a death if anything interrupts the end encoding. Then once done you just remux it through obs (file, remux) and itll turn it into an mp4 for you then and there! If you already do that, just ignore me. Lord knows this advice saved SO MANY recordings for me.
Yeah, Coop videos are cool and would like to see more attempts. Either solo or with some friends! I think the latter one would be awesome! Thanks for the video!
if your looking for suggestions: i find stetman is one of the hardest generals, because (unless your going all in on gary) you have to be high on macro well keeping up micro and also changing your stetzones just to keep in line with the other commanders. probably easier just to go kerrigan P3 honestly.... about as strong and much easier to execute on. although if you want something more meme worthy abathurs 125 essence prestige can have his entire army just stand in psi storms while being hit by and enemy army and never have any unit drop into yellow health... not even your spellcasters. rough start to a mission though: hope you like mines
Stetmann P2 is probably the most versatile/strongest prestige in the game, that said i do agree he is quite difficult to play and you need both good knowledge and mechanics. I don't think kerri p3 could win this mutation solo while p2 stetmann definitly can.
You might also give Stukov a shot! He has two heroes on timed life you can deploy anywhere and a good all-rounder army makeup. He's got great push potential though he's very vulnerable to big AoE damage. This was a great video though and I'm glad you made it.
For me the sweet spot for coop seems to be 2nd prestige dehaka as he has good survivability thanks to hero dehaka and can punch through a lot of things with the primal pack leader, while having a solid army to back things up
I really really love the co-op commanders. I wish Blizzard had given us more singleplayer uses for them. I love playing as them, but I hate having to play with randos who bumrush a map before I can even get things going. It's why I love mods like the Wings of Mengsk that you covered. I want to play as these commanders more, but I just don't like multiplayer, especially because they make everything a 20 minute bum-rush. God....if Blizzard had made a "roguelike" campaign randomizer with the commanders like Archipelago....I would be willing to pay so much money for it.
@@zaxtonhong3958 I don't think so, no. Is that one of the mods on the CCM? [Edit] Oh wait that's the roguelike arcade game that Grant played, didn't he?
ngl, I generally don't have much clue what's going on, not being a starcraft player, but I enjoy listening to you having fun playing it, so if you had fun with this format/idea, I'm all for it 👍
Would love to see more. And I don't see most comments here as back seating but as an awesome community that can give tips to others. Learned a few tricks for Stettmann in the comments. But I get how jarring it can be for Grant. Just hope to give a more positive light on this truly amazing community. (Obviously not talking about the haters and arrogant ones)
Hey man, just a tip from my experience with coop. Especially with that map. Zagara. Mass scourges and u can access most shards even with avoiding the units guarding them. Build some defense with static and queens and ezpz kinda cheesy but i love it...not that i could ever give a pro a tip but i have almost only played coop for years when i played sc2 and zagara probably easiest way to have a lot of fun. And no zerg ever cared about losing units but zagara literally hates her children
I'd have probably gone with Mengsk Merchant of Death. Because his death explosions are ridiculously good. And my suggestion is to try and "beat the current brutation." Instead of rolling.
Ooh fun, a mod that lets you play co-op missions solo? Last I heard the co-op mods were badly incomplete. I'm gonna have to bookmark that for sure. I've been wanting to try co-op again but an uncertain schedule makes me reluctant to do anything I can't easily pause for lengthy periods. And plus, I've wanted to do solo runs for ages. Can't wait to try the Kerrigan Nydus Nightmare, Alarak's Ascension, and Abathur's Toxic Web builds on my own. Heck, Karax's tower rush should be a fun one too when you can build it off 3-4 base eco. Gotta say though, I personally would've chosen Alarak or Abathur for this. Alarak may be a melee hero but with everything dying in droves he's pretty tanky, and ascendants do INSANELY good burst damage to back him up, plus that overcharge for defense. And Abathur can rely on toxic nests while his army is weak, then focus biomass to make those near-indestructible brutalisks. But Prestige throws a bit of a loop into my strategizing. I kinda had to quit co-op right around the time that came out, so I have very little experience with it.
Gj chief, such rare coop content. you could kill those enemy wave more easily if you used the Ultra burrow charge ability. Enemy is mostly mechanical. I always wondering why it not auto-castable
You clearly already know all of this but my not-actually-OCD-but-that's-what-everyone-calls-it demands I say it anyways: one bit of low hanging fruit you could go for is just remembering to switch to purple for a couple seconds more often, both to top off the tanks before a fight and even sometimes during fights since most of his units are made with breakpoints where two ticks of the energy aura make a MASSIVE difference because it gives 1 more trigger on their stupidly powerful abilities. Just defaulting to green is already surprisingly good but there is an absurd amount of value to using the other colors for one or two seconds at a time for the right one or two seconds.
Man..i wish i also have a stetmann commander...😢😢😢 If only santa was real😂😂😂 Great video btw...i just subscribed and will be looking out for your future videos...specially sc2 coop stetmann gameplay.
Have you tried out Nexus Co-op in the arcade? Some guy completely recreated the co-op mode gameplay, maps +1, commanders, and added a bunch of crazy mutators. If you do, make a video on it, it's fire
0:20 Me: Are you Serral? No? Then you're gonna die. On the other hand this should be pretty entertaining for all the sadists (most of Grant's viewership) out there that want to see one humiliating loss after another.
hey chat in case you dont know, if u love the coop mode & want to play it with more commanders, look up nexus coop in the arcade. its just straight up, coop, but with fan-made factions added. a lot of them are jank, but also a lot of them are legit more fun than the base game. like, gestalt feels like playing a AAA rts that came out after SC2 and puts SC2 to shame, in terms of how good and fun it feels to play, and how it looks
I feel like dehaka fenix and Alarak would be able to fit the criteria he chose stetman at the start and Kerrigan and zeratul a lot of them got strong hers then can make armies
@@v_vladukatasher2120 unfortunately, nobody wants to do it as it would be a pain to either balance it, or implement it (custom topbars are really hard to put in campaigns)
Isnt in standart coop, when your teammate leaves, you get shared minerals, and can create units from his stuff too? So maybe you can do the same with playing 2 factions at the same time?
i would watch Grant spend at least a half hour trying to beat a solo coop challenge on any difficulty higher than brutal as mengsk where he's not allowed to build any heroes except BC's and no earthsplitters. so its an all-marine comp where ur workers are also marines
I really like mengsk, swann, and stukov for co-op. Artanis is fun if he's at level 15, since always having 200 supply is a godsend for people who can't help but get supply blocked (I'm people)
I also enjoy stettman, but specifically when he's traded off super gary for invincible stettalites. Getting alerts that the enemy is killing all my goddamn sats as they cross the map is a bit too much for me lol
The whole cursor disappearing thing always happens to me on mac and minimizing the game then full screening it again works. Idk about pc but worth a shot next time.
the 4 bases really hurt your army capacity due to supply. oh and, the energy aura is crucial for his units to supercharge their juice. Nice attempt btw.
