I can't really run worth squat. I am working on that tho. But I sure can speed and power walk. I do alot of hiking, and walking, also with my 2 doggies, and recently got into rucking. My best 1 hour speed walking time is 3.55 miles in 1h 9m with 348ft elevation gain with 20lbs (2 10lbs plates) in the backpack. My best overall hike is 7.48 miles in 2h 41m with 902ft elevation gain with 15lbs in the backpack. So, I have some PRs to to beat. That 10 minute speed walking mile, I'm working up to that myself. With some added weight in the sack, of course. Love your content. Subscribed. 🤘
I used to be a natural sprinter as a youngster. I have done any training for decades, but what caught my attention immediately is that Matt seems to be striking the ground vertically with his heel every step - instead he should be landing with his weight nearer towards or on the ball of the foot which would give him more spring forward for the next step ... and yes a bit of work swinging his arms and hips more effectively would also help. It's still a decent effort for a first attempt without any event specific training.
