I beat TNR on legendary without the pistol one time

This reminds me of a Halo 2 challenge I like to do on heroic, complete the entire mission of Gravemind, killing all enemies with only using brute plasma rifles and regular plasma rifles, the only exception is the initial needle kill on one the brutes at the start. Super fun challenge and its especially fun to do on MCC with updated graphics, the plasma rifles look amazing.

Hi Garish, there's an easier way to deal with the hunter's at the base of the grav lift: lure them to the edge of the cliff and bait them into a melee attack and they'll throw themselves off.

I've always thought a needler melee should be a one-hit kill on the larger enemies, like you should stab them with the back of the gun and have the needles break off in the enemy. Would make for some interesting gameplay.

I’ve always wondered if Bungie chose to forgo the pistol on this map because of the sniper being placed as primary and the chances of the AR being an easier weapon for a majority of gamers back in 2001. The pistol probably wasn’t a favorite for casual campaign players.

Challenge runs like this are always fun, it gives a different result gameplay wise. Hope you'll do some more of these if you feel like it :) Needler challenge on library next? :o Or maybe AR only on SC with intended path by devs? There's prolly a couple of challenges out there that might suit you if you feel like doing something else during your streams, have fun!

Just a tip, In CE when the elites go for the melee, you can side step to the right and then melee them in the back for the kill

It has finally come to pass...

I don't think the needeler is a terrible gun, it's just more like a long range situational covi sniper. It works great on enemies that are a long distance off. If you get a whole clip in an enemy it can cause up to 3 explosions. I almost always use it on two betrayals when you need to go down from the control room. I just stand at the top, and rain needles down. Watch as elites blow up. Sometimes on the second level I need to get away from the beam towers and I can use it to pick off elites.

Poor marines lol. I always try and utilize them as much as possible lol. But hey thats just me

Calling the needler "useless" is little unfair. Not a first choice for speed running but it's ability to set off chain reactions like you saw at 6:16 can be abused to achieve great things. Try to include as many needles as you can before the supercombine. A magazine or two into an enemy or an exploding enemy will increase the blast size and ensure any dropping grenades cook off immediately. And circling away from Elites will make them strafe away from you in a straight line (instead of side to side) so more of your needles will land. When all else fails you can supercombine a dead body next to some grenades.
