I like this scripted style that is a lot more calm and directed. I think it would be great for one-off series or special videos, and I also think that if you do CDDA videos again it would be a better fit. CDDA is so much more dense and complex to understand compared to Zomboid, and I think your scripted calm narrative style with explanations of the game mechanics and your plans make it easier to follow.
Gotta say, I do like the impromptu voice over type of video you made here. Idk if I like it more than the live recording style, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more like this
You say that but games like this are still made. I know someone who plays one such game that was released in the past 10 years, he even has to type commands for certain things to happen. It's insane, ugly, patchy-feeling mess that he loves playing. I couldn't understand how he has the patience if I tried.
understandable it's an old school roguelike the game doesn't actually have graphics just characters marking things in the game world when he pulls up the map that's actually what the game looks like without the tile set he's using. These kinds of games are insanely hard to wrap your head around and you can play as a gigachad and still lose to bad rng. These are the kinds of games where you should read the wiki to understand wtf is going on.
for cdda, I personally think that a voice-over + some clever editing can make it a much better experience for people who don't already play it and understand what is going on.
I really like the narration! The live commentary is better in some aspects, but I definitely understood the progression much better with a script. I think a healthy mix would suit your content well :)
Thank you so much for covering CDDA. Its about time it gets more mainstream recognition with good content creators like you making it more accessible to understand. Thank you Pr1vate!!
I found that the most OP start possible is to start with the Fungal Infection scenario and take Black Belt as your profession. It makes it really easy to fight through the city to get to a Pharmacy with anti-fungal medication, and then you can just do whatever. Fungal Infection scenario is the best! With a proper build, it's just 8 free points!
They’re planning on removing points entirely in the future. You can make whatever build you want and make the game as difficult or as easy as you want it to be and remove the incentive to min-max with “free point choices”
@@Chapien There is. The first page of character creation has you choose between three different point systems, with one of them being unlimited points.
Normally I find CDDA very hard to watch and enjoy but narrated like this it was like the story was unfolding much more smoothly. These games are much too hard for me to play, glad you are enjoying them.
Cdda is a self writing survivor dairy, not an satisfying eye candy with 3D physics. I bet 5$ on that not even the +10y in Veterans have somewhat full 70% gasp of the game for the simple reason that it demands IRL knowledge of chemistry, firefighting, scuba diving, and military understanding of how to properly use friggin MRE's to get stuff done. And those guys Hobo-Minecraft Steve their way out of any situation with random street junk.
C:DDA is an amazing game that is incredibly fun once you get the hang of it. It's definitely the survival game with the most content and longest progression to endgame that's I've played by far. 1000 hours in and you'll still learn new things, especially that the game get constantly updated if playing on experimental. My main complain about the challenge runs is that there is quite a huge luck factor but it's also a roguelike so that's fair. You definitely need the stars to align to make it out of the fungal infection, RDB (especially as a ''Tweaker'') and Migo camp (as a captive) scenarios specifically. Once you finally get a relatively ''safe'' space with access to water, it's really not so bad to get going, a bit like an Evacue start from there. It's the price to pay for min-maxing multiple and single pool characters.
I like the narration, I'm with others in that live commentary is still good for some videos but I think getting to review stuff after the fact not only lets us better appreciate your skill in the game but lends itself better to the audience understanding what is going on, something definitely necessary for games you play less frequently or the audience might not be as familiar with.
0:40 Really Bad Day is one of _the_ two hardest starts in the game, giving you the most points to put into other traits. The other possible start? A defective Cyborg escapee. At least in _that_ start there's an easy fix for your torment, usually nearby. Or death by scalpel-on-robotic-arm. _This..._ This isn't just a clusterfuck. This is a clusterfuck solved by crapshoot.
this game seems very fun, kinda resembles dwarf fortress in a way with the simple graphics and complex mechanics, definitely would watch a series on it
I also do like the script style-video you've got going on here. I feel like the language you used here simulates what you would say in a "live" recording, and gives the video your own unique flavor. Scripting things after the fact also opens you up for jokes that would be hard to implement live, and you have already taken advantage of that here! I would not mind seeing more in the future. :)
I like to watch interesting gameplay videos on CDDA and I want to see more of it. Although CDDA is quite interesting mechanically with all the stuff you can do, especially the crafting, it's not a game that translates well into a gaming video. It's just way too long if record the whole gameplay so having a shortened video with all the interesting bits makes it a lot more watchable. And it is your Magiclysm video that got me interested enough to try the game, that and Sseth's review of the game
Honestly there are moments where it seems like you are reading from a script anyway. What I am trying to say is yes I approve and enjoy of this new method of video.
I still enjoyed the video, but I think a lot of what I like about your videos is how good you are at live narration. Also I found this video really hard to follow. It might've been mainly my lack of familiarity with CDDA, but I felt like some of it was due to the way the editing and scripted commentary interacted with eachother. Edit: Just watched one of your older CDDA videos and I’m gonna say it’s definitely mainly because of how this one was edited 😅
Although some commenters say this is hard to watch, for people like myself who have played CDDA it was very enjoyable and I appreciate you making this vid!
Its the same, just go to settings and change the default tileset with chibi_ultica Its open source so many community developed things are included in the game
I still watch some basically unedited content, but with the amount of accumulated video content of an also large accumulation of games that exist to choose from, I've become pickier. With that said, this game seems underexplored for people who bother to put effort into making it "watchable" like some have commented.
i like what you did with the commentary but I think I like it better the normal way if feels more natural. With that said if you forget to mute you mic this works too. If you were to change to this style I still would watch all your videos.
