Can you vent an electric clothes dryer inside? Not only is it possible, but it's also pretty easy! All you need is an indoor venting kit, some basic tools, and the right attachments for your electric dryer.
Just make sure the indoor venting kit is attached properly to your electric dryer using dryer vents and venting tape. Then just add water to the vent, and you're ready to go! The water will capture all the lint and dust, preventing it from spreading in your home.
While gas dryers have to be vented outdoors no matter where they are located in the home, electric dryers can be vented anywhere with ease. Just follow this simple step-by-step process with your own electric dryer, and you'll be ready to go no matter where you do your laundry!

You forgot to mention the amount of humidity this puts into your house/apartment. I had to do this in my house and it's so humid in here I feel like I am in the deep south. Side note: my house is about 750 sq ft and I live in the desert of Washington State

Two questions...Why is the other duct tape unacceptable for this installation? Also, my dryer vented into my garage, so I made my own “collection system” in my garage using a plastic five gallon bucket from Home Depot. I routed the duct directly into the bucket filled with water (about three fourths full). Then I snapped the lid into place. There are no leaks at all...it’s sealed up very tight. My second question is “Do I need to poke small holes into the lid to allow some of the moisture to escape?”

Hey there, thanks for the questions! We recommend avoiding duct tape as a safety measure, since it isn't designed specifically for dryer ducts, like the HVAC and sealing tape are. If you're venting indoors, it's recommended that you cut holes in the lid to avoid excess buildup of pressure. Keep in mind, you'll still have hot, humid air coming out of it, like with any other indoor venting kit. An important note: indoor venting works ONLY with electric dryers. It is not safe to vent gas dryers indoors.

NewAir Wow!! Thank you for the quick reply!! I ended up having to drill holes in the lid of my bucket because the hot air that flowed into the bucket didn’t have anywhere to go but back into the dryer! I should’ve seen that coming! Duh!! Needless to say, my clothes were still pretty damp in the dryer. Once I drilled the holes in the bucket lid, everything worked out great!!! Thank you again for the videos and the tips!!

This is insane. First, using flex is a lint collector and thus a fire hazard. Second, you would have to make sure the container is full of water at all times to condense the hot air or hot moist air will fill the house. A normal load has a gallon.

I hate to be a Debbie downer, but these should be illegal as the carcinogenics micro fibers from the clothing that is blown into your home ends up in your lungs, I have experience in the commercial Laundromat business and it is a hazard to the people cleaning lint from the filters, they must use a shop vac, only clean after hours of operation, and they must wear an approved respirator, the fibers are carcinogens that are impossible for lungs to break down and it cannot be absorbed into the body, it is one of those unknowns to the general public but I built a commercial laundromat in NYC and learned about the dangers from long time large scale operators, please, if you see one of these things tell the person the dangers.

People have done this for years and never have really had problems.

Everything C., these can cause serious health issues and harm the building. See "Don't Vent Dryer Into Home" by ND State University. If mold grows where it is not visible, a person can develop allergies and not know why. Hopefully no one will use one of these with a gas dryer. Carbon Monoxide poisoning kills many people every year in the US.

Carcinogens & many toxic ingredients are in detergents, dryer sheets, etc. These ingredients have not appeared on labels bcuz the US gov historically hasn't require it! Some states are implementing at least some requirement, but don't expect companies to give away all their secrets to their competitors! nationallawforum.com/2019/03/06/cleaning-product-manufacturers-gear-up-for-compliance-with-state-ingredient-disclosure-laws/

Why not skip the toxic dryer sheets and make your own laundry soap? Why wear toxic clothes?

Hey there! There's plenty of indoor venting kits on Amazon, so that should be a good place to start! www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=indoor+venting+kit

Jo Ann Sutherland Some people also have Natural Gas heated driers. So venting inside would literally kill you.

does this thing works with gas dryers ?
@jaycampbell6402

No, you should never do this with a gas dryer, you can actually die from the fumes. Only do this with an electric. Even with an electric, you can put too much moisture in the room and damage the room. Depending on your area the gas dryer is usually cheaper anyways.

No. You should never vent a gas dryer to the indoors.

This is a terrible idea. Face it: you're not going to keep refilling the water container. Nobody does. You'll end up with a damp basement and mold. And you'll be mad at yourself for doing this.

I live in a fairly small apartment. Do I have to use a venting kit with new air portable dryer?
@newairusa
@newairusa 6 лет назад
Hey there, good question! It's recommended that you vent your dryer, no matter where you live. But, you don't have to use an indoor venting kit if you don't want to! If you have a window nearby, you can vent there as well! Either way, though, we recommend that you pick up a venting kit, to avoid blowing lint into the air in your home. Hope this helps!

I have this awesome dryer and I love it!!! It is best if you use an indoor venting kit and make sure you use all of the filters every time! You can get a venting kit at Home Depot, Lowe’s, in-line etc. Enjoy!!!!

should be d. m. h., good point. Plus, while not required to be listed on the label, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, etc. contain toxins and carcinogens. For anyone interested, good article: INDOOR AIR QUALITY: Scented Products Emit a Bouquet of VOCs" by nih (.) gov
