the "weapon pole" looks like it is the same thing as the handle for the vehicles but the top part changes orientation when needed. if I had to guess the pole is something like a dominion rod which allows link to either make weapons of mass destruction, or control cobbled together machines, likely you get the rod from beating a certain boss.

one thing i noticed in the trailer is something you cannot usually see. the youtube trailer is too low resolution, but if you look at the trailer on the eshop you can see that the monsters creating the dust cloud are definitely molduga, and i lined up the location of the shot in game to find it was the taobab grasslands where you find the giant horse. you can individually count at least 10 molduga (and there are certainly more) and the most interesting thing is that this rare monster seems to not only have multiplied, but also escaped gerudo desert.

So my thought is that the battery just extends the life of the vehicle? It does seem that that container on the car is “glued” in with the green goop. So maybe while link is using the vehicle he uses his “magic?” gauge. That has some sort of regeneration. And he can put it into the battery to use as a one time use “magic gauge” similar to the extra stamina wheels you can get from eating food. I look forward to this game so much!
@tsogobauggi8721

@cymraegandconfused9721

this seems like an evolution of three things: the series' increasing inclusion of machines, SS and BotW's suggestion that ancient societies had advanced tech, and BotW's dedication to let the players go batshit crazy in how they solve puzzles.
@liamnehren1054
@liamnehren1054 Год назад
@ptd then there's the Antikythera mechanism an ancient analogue computer used to calculate highly complex movements of the planets. It's existence suggests that if ancient Greece had discovered electric or steam motors they would have made the Alan Turing machine a few thousand years early! This also suggests that other cultures who were able to calculate immensely complex movements of the celestial objects probably had similar devices.
@liamnehren1054

@ptd but the statues are a different matter, people can do that today too, it's through studying anatomy and very fine techniques and tools even though they are still really simple to make. It'll be much easier to explore Hyrule's waterways and islands with this.
@sarahangel3481
@sarahangel3481 Год назад
I will definitely try it out. But I don't know if I want to do that all the time. I hope there are other ways to go through Hyrule without always using a machine. I can see why Nintendo brought in these ideas. After all, you have seen a lot of players on RU-vid who have exploited the game mechanics for this. But for someone like me who prefers to paraglide, climb, run and ride around on horseback. Is that more of a nope. But I'm happy for the players who are looking forward to it. Unfortunately, that's not for me. But that's just my personal opinion. I hardly used the master cycle zero either. I don't think too much technology in Zelda is cool. But of course I'll try anyway. Maybe I'm having more fun than I think. Let's see. I can still change my mind. But I'm not really looking forward to it. Hopefully you don't have to rely entirely on it.

@sarahangel3481
@sarahangel3481 Год назад
@@user-if4nx2jn8r You're right.😊 Of course, wheels have been around for as long as you can remember. And of course it makes it easier to think of them not as technology but as magic-powered vehicles. The Shika technology also uses magic. And there has always been something technological in the Zelda universe. So far I haven't had any problems with it. But this time it feels like I have a very tasty pizza in front of me and then suddenly a big fat spider walks over it. I don't know how else to describe it. I'm really split.😅 Shikateck still worked but this one. I don't know how to feel about this. In the first trailers, which of course were from the game in the initial development period. Seeing beautiful golden islands with ruins and nature also some robots and dragons. And then you can see Highteck that you can build yourself. The difference is like day and night for me. I think my problem is unfortunately that I like fantasy too much and would have liked it better if it had looked more natural. Like this Stone Glider on that link was on it in the old trailer. But like I said, I'll try it anyway and see if it's a lot more fun than I think it is now. Don't say you don't like something unless you have a specific reason or haven't even tried it. I also don't want to talk the matter madly to anyone. I have to figure out how to deal with it myself. Most players in BOTW loved to push the mechanics. I find it fascinating too, but I hardly ever used it. Man I've traveled all over Hyrule almost without using fast travel. I only used them for certain quests or when I didn't feel like riding the horse at all. Otherwise I think everything in the trailer is very cool. I love that TOTK is so dark. I'm sure there are a few players who might not like it, but I do. I'll see if I enjoy it or not. Just for the gritty story and gritty atmosphere alone, I'll enjoy it. And hopefully the rest will fall into place soon. Just feeling a bit paralyzed after the crafting system and don't know what to think of it yet. I don't hate it. Will be interesting. But that will certainly not be easy. Well I'll see. Thanks for your comment. And sorry for the long answer. Unfortunately I write a lot. Especially so that there are no misunderstandings. 💙

Somehow it will. I don't worry about that, I just need some warm-up time for the crafting system. I don't hate it. It's just a bigger leap to overcome. But at the latest when flying, that will definitely be different. And you can ride if you want. You can see Link riding Epona. I would be really stupid not to play TOTK just because I might not like the crafting system. If only because we had to wait so long for TOTK. This is sure to be a gigantic and epic adventure with plenty of things to do. It will definitely not be boring. I'm still really looking forward to it. The most important thing is that we all have a lot of fun at the end. No matter what form. I just hope that the story and the world are not neglected. Not that Nintendo put most of their time into the crafting system. But that's hard to imagine. I'm definitely very hyped. Whether with or without stumbling blocks. I'd better leave you alone now. So I was thinking what if the circle with the symbol on it that the guardians have are a core that you take from them after defeating them that you need to bind the green energy together to make the vehicle or weapon work. And the green goop is obviously the thing that binds the materials together but the core thing with the symbol is the power source. Also i think that same core item will be placed in the empty circle part on links hand to energize the green power. Something that many people don't know about hot air balloons is that you don't really steer them in the conventional sense. There are layers of wind moving in different directions, so to "steer" a hot air balloon, you move up or down to get to the wind layer you want to be pushed by. It's a very interesting challenge. My hope is that in the game you will have to do something similar, making fires of different sizes to either move up, hold your altitude, or move down to be pushed by the different wind layers above Hyrule.

Something I noticed watching the trailer is that monster horns are oddly weapon-like: the lizalfos seen in the monster crowd shot (featuring the redead) has a seemingly metallic horn like the blade of a sword, and the pronged horns of the blue bokos are almost a dead ringer for the lizal spear. Finally, promotional art of the boss bokoblin seems to show a horn shaped like the haft and blade of an axe. If there is a weapon crafting system, I think the monsters will be a part of it, not just pieces or reclaimed tech scattered about the hills of Hyrule.

On the Twitter pic of Zelda with the new Sheikah slate, it has a glowing blue eye and two eyelashes on separate mechanical layers. I assumed this might have symbolized a clock and time travel, but looking at Link's stick thingy, it has an eye at the tip with two gold eyelash prongs and looks like it might be retractable. I'm assuming the car handles are the same thing, so the new Sheikah slate might be able to transform in some ways 🤔

I think the car Link crafts might be able to shoot fire from the open mouths of its dragon/serpent-shaped front wheels, just as Link's new flamethrower does. The other vehicles Link crafts might have a similar method of defense, though they wouldn't really be visible in the clips shown to us in the trailers. This would be a really cool way to take out enemies that are in his way or maybe even ones fast enough (perhaps Moldugas or Lynels, for example) to keep up with the vehicle and attack it as Link might attempt to transport some object.

My guess is that some of the crafting will be optional for easier transport, etc.. others we will have to craft... for ex- the hot air balloon we might NEED to make it in order to reach the higher islands, as we are obviously not gong to be able to just paraglide to them all.. so it could be some sort of side mission/ story beat to make the hot air balloon, etc...

So I have two lite thoughts/theories: 1. That the room with all the guardian arms we see in the trailer might be an assembly bay made by Purrah and Robbie. Perhaps you can cobble stuff on the fly too, but to save/register/store the parts you find and vehicles you make you bring them to these bays, kind like the stables are for horses. Maybe they also let you more easily fine tune your part placements there as well. 2. That the weird green swirl things we see everywhere might be like gas stations for our vehicles as they all seem to be places it would be easy to park both a ground and air vehicle. This is far less likely though.

I don't think the crafting is limited to just vehicles and weapons. I've been theorizing (considering we have seen two major bosses in the sky islands) that the sky islands themselves are the dungeons of this game. Specifically the more mechanical and boxy looking islands. I believe the natural looking ones with the yellow trees will be the game's new Great Plateau. The crafting mechanic will come in play where I feel there will be some level of 'build your own dungeons' mechanic. Such a mechanic would certainly justify the 6 year development time, assuming Nintendo wanted to go all in with this mechanic. We've seen Nintendo already dipping into this territory with Skyward Sword and Link's Awakening, and it only seems to make sense that this being the game to truly test the concept.

I had a similar thought, especially with Link moving around entire floating bits in this trailer, and some of the islands having weird shapes made of straight lines. Maybe there is a unified island to be made, like a puzzle, and the main mission is to build it piece by piece.

OK I THINK I GET IT! In BOTW one of the biggest things people complained about was the lack of crafting system. However in BOTW the systems like cooking and making a campfire weren’t done by opening a menu and hitting a button. They were done by taking the items and throwing them down. It’s somewhat the same principal but it is more immersive and made many players (including myself) way more inclined to engage with the mechanics (how often do you play an open world game where the optional crafting mechanics get forgotten about after the first 10 minutes?) This is TOTKs answer to this. You craft vehicles and weapons not through menus or with ores and resources, you collect parts and put them together live and in the game, rather than if you did it in a menu and then summoned it in. It would feel like you were really CRAFTING the items, and would make the system feel far more engaging and exciting than if you just got the materials and then made the vehicle appear in front of you! I feel like this system would fit very well into the already established BOTW systems and the design philosophy of the game as a whole. The more I think about the possibilities the more excited I get

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Before the first teaser trailer, all we ever heard was, "I want a story about rebuilding Hyrule with Zelda, its whats implied by the ending cutscene." Then we get the teaser and the islands years later, and everyone is so invested in the story, but also mad/confused about how the map will be the same. I think people are limiting their imagination with this game, now that they're sold on the cinematic, story-centric part of the the game. They are underestimating two things, how much the world changing will be a direct result of player influence, and how far the original games physics engine can be expanded. I'll put it like this, the three most praised aspects of BOTW that the team would likely take to heart are open ended design and problem solving, the wacky playground of the game's physics and abilities, and the Towns... specifically the house and Tarry Town. This isn't legend of Zelda Nuts and Bolts, this is freaking Fallout 4. I have every reason to suspect that areas will be inhospitable on approach (like the Twilight Zones), and require cleansing. The weird strings might imply that the Sky islands will have to be pulled down and tethered, moved and organized into complex structures, and the freaking flat bed truck (because its NOT just a car) could imply base building. Even the new towers in this game look built from scratch, for all we know we place them ourselves as safe areas during Blood Moons.

The crafting mechanic for Link's regular weapons is going to be done via drops from enemies, more specifically the horns. Red Bokoblins have a single serrated knife, the Blue a duel point/head - both would work as spear heads - and the Boss Bokoblin a large axe head. Lizalfos seem to have blades as horns, with the malice covered one underground having a very specific shape similar to a Gerudo scimitar. The Hinox's horn is covered up, meaning it would be a surprise what weapon we get when defeating them. Red Moblins have a sort of skull cap, which could possibly be used to make a shield, whilst the Blue moblin has 2 horns, which could be arrow heads, a bit of a guess. I saw a comment on another video where they realised the homing arrow is using a Keese eyeball, I'm not exactly sure it is, but that would make sense. If we craft our own weapons that would mean we can repair/upgrade whenever they break to fit our own wants, and what weapons we can make it directly tied to the level of enemies we are capable of defeating... very exciting!

The connection of the 'sky golem's' head area to the rest of its body reminds me of the laser beam connector in Nuts 'n Bolts. It allowed loose connection between parts that could also be momentarily switched off by holding a button. It was this part that enabled a lot of creative designs like tanks, drills, gatling-style guns and transformers whose mobile functions could be activated by turning off the beams. I hope that part exists in TotK too, and it gives me the feeling, looking at the golem and box dude from the trailers, that some enemies may be constructs made with the same parts you can stick together. Another useful part would be the 'bumper' type part, which allowed you to fill a gap with a part that was only connected one-way, creating stable moving constructs like the aforementioned drill or gatling designs. :)

The symbol is seen on either side of the car, at the bottom of the four propellers in the hovercraft and interestingly even on the hot air balloon (check it's diagram in the leaked art book)! In this way, Link would be able to customize the vehicles likely allowing him to shoot enemies from the car by firing small projectiles from the car, bombard bombs on the flying foes from the hovercraft, and a whole bunch of other crazy stuff!!
