I always say that cooking is a combination of chemistry and love. You need to love the ingredients, love the process and love the people you are cooking for even if it's just yourself. Glad to hear that the leading experts agree with me 🙂👍

Iam italian an grew up watching my mother feed any one at anytime that came to our house. I will always have a snack of some kind to feed whomever. Italians show love by feeding people an pinching their cheek.😊

Loved your conversation about cook’n with intent/ love. I am caring for my 95 year old Mom, so she can stay in the home she has lived in for over 70 years. Already lost eyesight in her left eye. This home she knows every sound & squeak. I love to cook, being her primary care person, I have adjusted my cooking with special intent for her needs. Eating with limited/ failing teeth, I take special care to create food that is easier for her to chew & digest. I often ‘peel’ the celery to remove the stringy bits. It cooks softer & if served in a salad easier to chew. Others may think that’s excessive but it is my gift to honor her. I can adjust our eating times to fit her needs. I know all her favorite foods so I make sure she has options when it is difficult because her appetite is reduced. That is me showing love with intention. What a blessing to be able to love & care for her this way. I truly enjoy your show, I have learned a lot & love your partners in crime. Your honesty is refreshing. Much appreciated. Stay real. Sending love from Minnesota 🌎

I’m watching this at some months remove, Annie, and reading about the way you care for your mother with much respect. All the best to you & your family ☺️✨🌌

I love this. Thank you so much. I needed to hear this. I seriously want to peel the grapes. Thanks for your reflections!

Of course it can.. and if it’s the main ingredient.. you’ll likely taste it and feel it’s effects upon consumption .. 💕

Andy I recently ate at a fine dining restaurant because I had a gift card to use and I probably will never get to go to one again and honestly I am ok with it! I am a blue collar person who likes middle of the road restaurants.

Cooking with care, love, respect - I think it’s about engagement. Being plugged in and connected. BTW - have those OXO containers and love em

Yes, a bit disappointing that there is no communication for 10 days now. Let's hope all is well and they are just caught up in the new year's buzz.

One of the best things is also when come home to visit (cause you live in another town) and your Mum makes you vegemite and butter on toast ❤❤❤

totally agree about love being an ingredient. i watched a cooking show decades back, and the chef said that to show your love for your guests, you need to love the ingredients, touch it, feel it, cut it, caress each part. well i dont go that far but every piece i cook is touched and looked at by me, no broken bits on the broccoli, no dark spots on cauliflower and more... thankyou for confirming im not mad

Exactly. It is about caring and respecting the ingredients and the process. My grandmother used to peel grapes and apples and serve them to us on a lunch tray, it was so beautiful. Bless her. Happy New Year to you and yours.

For me, when I cook for my family, the idea of cooking with love means how I pay attention to my kids’ preferences. Mushrooms are either cut large to pick out or tiny to not be noticed because one son doesn’t like the texture. For another it is using his favorite, fish sticks as the fish for tacos along with other homemade toppings. And when we can’t satisfy every preference, that’s tough love, I suppose. :)

It's like doing anything with mindfulness and intent. You are fully in that moment in what you are doing.

I see no problem with eggs and toast. I put as much love and care into making sure the eggs are cooked just right as I do cooking a big ol roast or something. It is all about what you put into any meal and I love cooking with love. You do, too, Andy. Even when you don't think you are, your care for the end result is obvious!

Nothing wrong with slapping a 30 minute meal together for dinner in the middle of the week. You need to feed the family. Cooking with love is anytime i bake something. Or the holiday meal i plan for days to make. Or that meal you and your family love. Its all done with love.

Yes, intent/care/effort covers it. The little things you do to improve the eating experience of the folks you care about. Ingredients don't matter as much as the fact that you actually DID it.

Happy New Year! Love is definitely an ingredient in anything one does. You have the music blaring, singing off key, dancing around the kitchen mixing all the ingredients, licking the bowl. Bending over the counter top and looking at your creation and feeling your heart smile!

Taking that extra care really makes the difference or even when someone knows you're big into a certain herb/spice and they add a bit more for you! I got your book btw! Looking forward to not having to read the descriptions of my phone
