MSE may not straighten your septum but it will improve your nasal breathing which is the whole point of a septoplasty.

Actually, some studies have found that RPE actually partially fixes septum deviations. MARPE brings the nasal floor slight down (0 ~ 2 mm), stretching the septum.

I keep hearing about MSE and how great it is for the breathing and maxilla, however I am in the UK and not the US and I feel they're a lot more narrow minded down here, orthopaedics and may not look positively at MSE and rather see it purely as a route that must only be taken if absolutely necessary. I also heard that you need a certain underbite or something like that in order for the orthopaedic to operate on you and split your maxilla. I dunno, I want to look into it but don't know where to look because this shit isn't in any way mainstream. Go into an orthopaedics and then have them tell me it isn't necessary and how they only do it as a rare procedure.

my deviated septum "straightened" itself a bit and i started to nose breathe from both nostrils since then, just after 7 months of mewing. My nose breathing isnt the best but it has greatly impeoved just by mewing for the first time in my life for 7 months, and since then I am able to even do some sports without mouth breathing. And I will get mse this year, No surgeries will ever improve your situation more than fixing the root of the problem, the maxilla.

How strange. I am currently in this exact predicament. I have the option to go for MSE and I visited an ENT last week who told me that I need a septoplasty and turbinate reduction. This is three years AFTER having both done! My palate is extremely narrow, high and arched. I think I would benefit greatly from MSE. I think that MSE might have fixed my deviated septum. Before MSE, I went to see a sleep apnea surgeon named Dr. Eric Kezirian who looked in my nose and said I had a deviated septum; after MSE, I went to see another sleep apnea surgeon named Dr. Kasey Li who did a scan and said that my septum was straight. Maybe what happened is that as I did MSE, the roof of my mouth (floor of the nose) dropped down and this fixed my septum; not sure though, I'm just speculating.

MSE is known to fix deviated septums in young children (before age 10) and it’s exactly due to how you described it. The floor of the maxilla drops down and allows the septum to straighten out

@RichHandsome 2 года назад
Menneh Gambia did you get the MSE? Did it fix your sleep ?
@gregoryl8541
@gregoryl8541 2 года назад
@@RichHandsome No. After doing MSE, I ended up doing the EASE procedure (and turb reduction) with Dr. Kasey Li. My breathing is astronomically better now. The EASE procedure with Dr. Li is an improved, better version of MSE. This is because in addition to cutting/splitting the midpalatal suture, Dr. Li also does pterygomaxillary disjunction (PMD) which is the greatest source of resistance to expanding the posterior (back part) part of the maxilla where the soft palate. Posterior maxillary expansion is most significant for improving breathing, especially during sleep in order to resolve sleep disordered breathing. Dr. Li also uses a KLS Martin Distractor which exerts a greater amount of force/torque on the maxilla for expansion and leads to less tipping of the teeth than MSE/MARPE appliances. I think that with a little more forward expansion (next phase of my treatment), I'll probably no longer have sleep-disordered breathing.

I'm lucky my teeth are fairly straight, but jaw is narrow enough that my septum is goofy. Part of that is allergies from a young age, mouth breathing, but someone told me not to mouth breathe when I was young and I took it to heart.

I got deviated septum and adenoid hypertrophy surgery 3 weeks ago. I’m still recovering and I still have a few scabs that come out every now and then, and honestly I think my breathing is slightly better (although I can’t tell for sure because my nose is still not 100% clear from scabs) but I don’t know if it’ll get to the point were my main problem disappears - waking up in the morning tired and with a feeling of lack of oxygen in my lungs. I think MSE would help me but the orthodontist I went to told me If I were to get one It would had have to been a few years ago not now (I’m currently 18) so I’m not sure what to do now besides waiting for a full recovery (Also, first days of recovery from the surgery were hell so I don’t know if I’ll be able to tolerate the MSE)

I soak everything in...they teach you that the palatal suture cannot be split once it seals as an adult. I had to disagree. The body is constantly able to change with force. Our entire body turns-over in like 7 years. (Except for nerve tissue) we are a brand new being...why wouldn’t a simple palatal split not be achievable? Of course it would!
