The social media rounds have been aflame with long haulers trying the enzyme Nattokinase - and others (like Serrapeptase and Lumbrokinase) - rumoured to have positive effects due to their clot busting properties. But what exactly is Nattokinase, and why does it work? In this bonus film in the microclots series, Dr Asad Khan and I talk to Professors Resia Pretorius and Doug Kell to get their thoughts.

What a lot people don't seem to get: Don't wait for that one Wonderpill. Instead, attack the disease on all fronts at the same time to highly increase your chances of healing. For example: - For the inflammation cascade and fatigue take Coenzym Q10, Vitamin D³, Resveratrol and astaxanthin. Drinking Green Tea could help too. EPA and DHA fatty acids are very important for the reduction of the inflammation process (especially in the heart and brain), your veins and thinning the blood. - For the Microclots take said enzymes (nattokinase, serrapeptase and so on) - to increase your oxygen levels and your blood flow take Coenzyme Q10 and Ginko Balboa. The latter could also help against the brain fog (it even helps against prions, and the spike protein acts similar to prions in the brain). Pistachio nuts and red beet juice increase nitric oxide levels and therefore the blood flow. -You need (natural) ACE2 inhibitor to stop the cascading effect of the inflammation to get worse and to prevent further replication of the Spike-Protein and to prevent new infection. Among these are: The bioflavinoids Quercentin (also acts as a anticoagulant), Hesperidin (in the peel of Citrus-Fruits) and naringinin (Grapefruit), also the EGCG from green tea and the CBD from Cannabis... there are others in some chinese herbs (harder to get by). - Stuff like OPC, Rutin and Bromelain are helping as well by reducing inflammation, making your veins more elastic, repair veins and thinning blood. This all could help in preventing death from clots. Garlic and Ginger are also natural blood thinners. Garlic and Sulforaphan (Brokkoli Sprouts) also help in detoxing the spike proteins. Horseradish activates the neutrophiles of the immune system, that can get rid of the spikes. - I also highly recommend compounds with the ability to detox heavy metals like glutathion, fulvic acid/humic acid, chlorella-algae and R-Alpha Lipoid Acid (makes also antioxidants even more effective). Glutathion (GSH) is also VERY IMPORTANT for your immune system and people with long-covid have decreased levels. N-Actylcysteine helps in increasing your GSH Levels and also significantly decreases inflammation in the lungs. -Of course you should take a lot of vitamin C (lungs, immune system) and all B-Vitamins (blood, Oxygen-levels and nerves). You should not be deficient in Retinol-Vitamin A (immune system), Vitamin E in all its forms (4 Tocopherols and 4 Tocotrienols) for repairing of tissue, Zinc (immune system), Copper & Selenium (immune system, Detox) and all Electrolytes (Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, Chloride). Keep your liver and kidney clean. -Be careful: Research interactions with your medication with all of the mentioned above. Mixing anticoagulant compounds and blood thinning compounds could be dangerous (internal bleeding). Grapefruit has dangerous interaction with some 80 medications so be aware. You should also spread the intake of the supplements over the day and not take all at once. -Fasting (and reducing carbohydrate intake) helps with EVERYTHING mentioned above trough a process called Autophagy. It significantly reduces inflammation, kills viruses and starts a process of cell repair. Try daily intermittent fasting and slowly increase your fasting schedule over a period of two weeks until you eventually are at 20+ hours of fasting. Maybe go for 48 hours once a month. There are people that got healed only by fasting. You will also loose excess weight and that always decreases mortality with covid. - A little bit of sport (if possible) or at least some daily movement is necessary for complete healing. It is known to reduce infection induced inflammation and reducing the risk of thrombosis. But take your time and go easy - especially if you are a young male. Elevated testosterone is associated with higher risk of myocarditis (heart inflammation with potential heart failure) and after covid the risk of myocarditis is already increased for one year. That's why we saw so many male athletes just drop dead in the last two years. Slowly increase your movement. Qi-Gong is a low-level exercise that helps me a lot to elevate symptoms. Especially exercises for the lung and heart meridians. -Personally I am also a big fan of healing frequencies, although it surely is weird for some people at first. Try "Rife Frequencies" for lung, heart, blood flow, inflammation, infection and so on on youtube or search for "Sapien Medicine" (really try the hyperbaric oxygen therapy they have!) and "Quadible Integrity" on youtube. Give it a shot, you have nothing to loose after all. Its all for free on youtube. Acupressure/Acupuncture can also help a lot in elevating symptoms. Don't underestimate these tools. Hope I could help someone :)

Agree you have to hit this on multiple fronts - and thank you for the super detailed comment! One thing that I believe to be critical as part of the ‘plan of attack’ is making multiple interventions designed to calm the nervous system down. So this is achieved through eliminating stressful activities and situations, a change of the work environment (if there is one), and then LOADS of rest, breathwork and meditation. Highly recommend Suzy Bolt’s yoga programme (its very very gentle)

So what is most helpful right now, help expedite the healing of a recent Covid -19 infection, with lingering symptom's of phlegm and cough ? NATTO or something else?
@funjunkyy
@funjunkyy Год назад
@@flolou8496 If cough is your only problem I would just increase the Vitamin C intake to 3x ~150mg per day and the Vitamin D intake to 5000-10.000 I.U. per day, drink loads of green tea and herbal tea (especially liquorice, eucalyptus, Thyme and salvia) and just wait two weeks. Maybe take some NAC as well. You should wait for a few weeks after infection before working out again, even if you feel kinda alright again. That's very important, because starting to early can trigger long covid. But natto is always a great idea, with or without covid, because it prevents heart diseases and stroke (the number one killers).

3 months after getting the alpha form of COVID I experienced a TIA while driving that resulted in totaling my car. After release from the hospital, I began taking a daily dose of aspirin and continue taking it some 18 months later. Later that year, a physician doing a COVID study at a State University suggested I start Nattokinase. I have been taking both aspirin and Nattokinase now for some 15 months and have not had another TIA or brain fog. As said in the video, Nattokinase is a low-risk dietary supplement that attacks fibrinogen formations in the bloodstream. I recommend it for those with blood clot concerns.

This stuff is brilliant!! It up my recovery hugely within a month of using it. I learnt alot through trial and error but now I've got it working for me perfectly. For what it's worth I summirsise it so somebody Doenst have to deal with what I had to:) If you take a large dose straight off you start to feel terrible quickly as it's breaking the clots up fast and your body reacts to all the debris. I started taking it slowly so it cleaned up my blood first, then afterwards I increased it to start attacking all the stationary clots in the vessels. Afterwards I added serrakkanse to break down the biofilms where the virus debris might be lurking behind. You can add more nakketansee during this time. That's the my logic. It seems to work for me and I've had no side effects so far. The other thing is I put it by my bed and if I happen to wake up in the middle of the night it's then I take it as my stomach will be empty and it will have time to digest and go into the blood stream instead of attacking the protein in the food instead. After 2 years of this shit, I'm back running, my heart rate has dropped, I'm not dizzy and I feel like the everyday breathless is a thing of the past. Good luck to everyone

I started nattokinase about 1.5 years ago and saw a slow but steady and progressive improvement ever since. There was plenty of evidence on microclots back then already, and it just made sense to try it, and I am glad I did. I could feel the 'wool in the lungs' sensation and air hunger gradually dissapear, my body felt less and less starved of oxygen, I no longer felt like I was suffocating. It makes sense especially for those of us who feel constant air hunger/ SOB whilst CT scans and pulmonary tests are 'normal' that the issue is in the blood vessels. Honestly if it was clear to me - a lay person, it should have been obvious to the medical professionals have they bothered to listen to their patients who are all of a sudden complaining of breathing difficulties yet have normal results, instead of assuming millions of us have anxiety and cannot differentiate between anxiety and a clearly physiological issue (which we sure can). Prior to nattokinase I felt there was no improvement whatsoever, it really worked for me and I recommend it to everyone who can take it without interactions. Having said that, in my experience it takes you to a certain (good) point but not a complete cure, perhaps as there are also secondary issues we have developed like MCAS for instance.

THANK YOU (Alison Reed) for writing this detailed and evocative report covering the whole experience of the chronic micro-clotting condition! I feel I am finally closing in on my goal of what I called "De-Sludging" the micro-vessels 2 years ago. This is a cascading health issue that increases the risk of death at least 5x from its inception, and inflicts cascading debilitation in many of the body's tissues and organs. Wow - if that could be repaired significantly and prevented from ever recurring - that new age of EFFECTIVE medicine will have arrived.

After dealing with the effects of long covid from March 2020 I tried using Nattokinase about three months ago and all of the exertional intolerance, chest pain and that feeling of pressure in the chest cavity dissipated entirely and have not returned, now I am back to working with the effects of advancing age and de conditioning resulting from not being able to sustain physical activity for nearly 3 years. The basic science seems sound and if this actually works on a larger scale it is unlikely that any drug company will take it up since there is no real money to be made from something so inexpensive. Many thanks to Prof Pretorius for her research and the publication of her work and hopefully the wider medical community will take up this research and relieve us of having to do the research ourselves and look for our own solutions to this widespread problem. I'm really excited to try this, as I've been having HBOT since September and am really starting to feel that I'm on the road to recovery. It has helped massively with brain fog and reducing fatigue. It's like a battery top up, if used in conjunction with rest and pace. I've even been able to exercise for a bit longer, am managing 3 or 4 sessions of tai chi, yoga or walks @ 20 minutes each, compared with 5 mins a week which still induced PEM. I fully forgot about it for a while, it didn't even cross my mind... Now this fall I sadly fell ill with Covid for the first time, after being very careful and lucky the previous years. Oddly enough I very randomly started craving Natto only a short while after recovering. I had a mild go of Covid, but have some lingering symptoms like hair loss. It's said that the body will crave what it needs and I wonder if some part of my body remembered the positive health benefits of natto and made me crave it, to deal with any lingering impacts of covid? Guess I'll throw my comment on the pile here but I was really struggling with brain fog after getting Covid in Jan 2023, and I tried many many different things, but it was a combo of Nattokinase and Serrapeptase that eventually got me feeling "normal" again. Oddly the serrapeptase would give me pain in my muscles and joints for about a day after I took it, and the nattokinase would cause a sort of bruising look on my toenails, but those things would go away in a few days. personally I don't think its the placebo effect. I bought natto at a Japanese food store bc I couldn't locate the Nattokinase supplement and didn't know how much to take if I had, I figured eating the source as the Japanese had been doing for centuries couldn't hurt (I did google an NIH article that explained beforehand however that it causes no harm and does in fact work)...well this was thanksgiving eve and at about bedtime... for the first time in about 2 years my leg that had blood clots previously, suddenly quit hurting....It took me a couple of days to realize it was most likely the natto, I simply had not made the connection but read somewhere that it can indeed help symptoms in as little as 2 hours. I had completely forgotten I had eaten it (and had kept doing so for a few days by this time). since that time I eat some everyday in the form of miso soup. I will swear by it at this point, days when I don't eat it my leg hurts again. taking aspirin also helps, which I had not been doing, but I think the natto is also good for digestion bc of the fermented food aspect whereas aspirin can irritate the stomach.

On what may be a wild goose chase (what about COVID and LC is assuredly not?) I recommend a video Medcram has recently released about Near Infrared Therapy for acute COVID-19: "Near Infrared Light (940nm) Improves COVID Outcomes: Exciting Randomized Control Trial". Where it gets interesting is around the 16 minute mark with a good exposition on oxidative stress. Nearer the 19 minute mark it turns to the role of oxidative stress on the endothelial cells and how that results in release of Von Willebrand Factor and subsequent microclots. Near Infrared Therapy is probably not a prospect for LC, but the understanding of oxidative stress as a factor in producing the microclots can't hurt. Maybe we are getting closer to preventing at least some Long Covid, if not to treating it.

I just started to make my own natto from soybeans, black beans, navy beans and chick peas. Amazon has Nattomoto natto starter from Japan, which I add to 10 ml of water and add to cooled down beans or chick peas, which I cooked in an Instantpot. I got the Instantpot with the temperature control so I can set it to 101 degrees in the yogurt setting and continue with the fermentation for 24 hours. The natto comes out very sticky with strong and stringy fermented components. It seems like it's very powerful stuff...and it's nice to enjoy freshly made natto after an extra day of finishing it off in the refrigerator.

You also need inosine. It's natural and improves oxygene flow to the brain and heart! My elderly mother has COPD and takes it to breathe better and to prevent heart and brain damage due to possible stroke and faints from low blood pressure. Its like an oxygene tank, but from within. It's safe, natural and cheap. My mother had already a TIA (transcranial ischemic attack) which is a precursor to a stroke, prior to taking inosine - now she feels great - so it's vital and crucial to take inosine - so TIA or god forbid stroke won't happen again!

@@LLMoran617 I came across the natto because people in the support groups were reporting that they were recovering on them. I went to the store and the owner recommended the systemic enzyme because they also are used to clean up fibrin. I found articles online on research of enzymes killing the spike protein and dissolving rogue proteins. I knew I had developed a cardiovascular problem from my symptoms and doctors were invalidating, dismissive and didn’t know how to help. I was on the decline so I had nothing to lose. That’s why I tried them. At the beginning of the year I took natto and a triple dose of the systemic enzyme that had serra and bromaline & papain once in the mornings. Thinned my blood naturally because for some reason I’ve developed an allergy to aspirin. I didn’t know it then what that was but I had that immune response Dr. Khan mentioned in one of the videos. Then very slowly I began to feel better but not recovered but not declining either. Recently i plateaued and started to feel my circulation was sluggish and decided to do another round. People inthe support groups reported taking all 3 and recovering so I decided to add the lumbro. I take the natto, serra in the morning, systemic enzyme in the afternoon and the Lumbro in the evening. I’m very sensitive to medications so my approach has been to start with the lowest dose possible and increase as tolerated. I got the immune response again but this time it was much shorter and my circulation feels better. I plan to take slow doses for much longer this time and then I’ll built up from there. I’m trying to be as careful as possible since I don’t have medical guidance.

Then I continued that after the procedure for 2 days, plus I drank my organic pineapple juice. I had no swelling or severe pain. How much Nattokinase are people taking for Long Covid?

Gez, great video! I wonder if the flushing reaction with Niacin could possibly contribute anything to the breaking down of clots or at least to dislodging them from capillaries where they could be stuck? I ask because over the course of recovery I did take Nattokinase occasionally, but mostly I just took Niacin.

Sadly, I bought a supplement through The Wellness Company that’s supposed to help with long covid, they claim. It has natto in it, but it gave me terrible insomnia. I was hesitant because nattokinase is soy and I avoid soy as much as possible cuz it messes with my hormones. But as we all do, I had to give it a try. Oh well. The worst part is they don’t accept returns, and this supplement was very expensive. But press on we will! Thanks again for your videos ❤

Nattokinase is not from soy. It's an enzyme that helps break it down in the fermentation process but not a component of soy. Check Natural News with Danny Curtain's latest video on it.

The problem with Wellness company is the dosage is low. Papers have shown that high dose (6000 FU and higher) has significant clinical benefit while low dose can have almost zero benefit in some studies.

In the absence of any studies proving effectiveness of substances that won't be studied because there is no profit incentive for something that can't be patented, I look to trends in human populations for possible treatments. The low occurrence of heart disease in certain Japanese populations who use natto is one such case. Not having an appetite for natto I have chosen to use nattokinase with vitamin k 2. At 73 I am not yet willing to give up the ghost and I can afford the patience to wait for a double blind study that will never happen!

Hmmm.... Clots are by definition in the circulatory system. All proteins taken by mouth are rapidly degraded in the stomach and duodenum, and then absorbed as very small peptides or as amino acids. The alimentary canal is effectively "outside" the body. So how does oral nattokinase, or any other of these naturally occurring clot-dissolving proteins, get into the circulatory system in order to do anything at all to an existing clot? None of these birds mention this very obvious issue.

Look into metal detox - consider other symptoms you may be having related to same like irregular heartbeat. And no, have never heard of it - and done a lot of reading and watching on that - and have been a 4,000 FU user now at least 6 months, plus now NATTO itself, which I recommend. Easy to eat - don't let them fool you.
