Lived in Florida full time from 1969 to 2020, now I reside in the GA mountains. Just got my tax bill today on a 1993, 1000 sq ft., fully renovated home on half an acre. Normally the taxes run about $350.00, this year because of a tax credit reduction from the governor the taxes with a senior exemption were a grand total of $49.49.
Your electric bill is nothing compared to mine in So. California. Sadly, as a native Californian , I would like to leave because of how expensive it is on a fixed income (and other reasons I won't go into). But all our friends and family are here and we do love the weather and no bugs.
Hi Jerry and Linda. Friendly tip for removing Vaseline from your hair. Whisk up a couple of eggs and use egg for shampoo and use warm water. The egg 🥚 removes the Vaseline. It really works. ❤
I had a friend suggest instead of paying for someone's meal when they can afford it, call a local school and pay for a student's lunch account that's delinquent.
Another enjoyable show! Thank you both and yes, our taxes here in Ct are much higher. But, we are grateful to be able to have a place to live and enjoy each and every day. ❤😊❤
Oh I sure enjoy watching your videos I am a retired public school bus driver my husband a retired maintenance supervisor at a plant we will never get to move down there but I love watching you tell about the places and just love Linda and her laughing a lot reminds me of myself love when people is just jolly and laughing it's good for your soul and for those around you makes everyone else happy , I don't know how to email but I was just wondering what are y'all doing for Thanksgiving and Christmas will you have the family come home and do you decorate for Christmas, hope you have a great Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas even us that will never get to move there loves watching your videos take care and keep laughing Linda it just make my day seeing you laughing and happy, we love you to Jerry keep doing the good deeds for the old women but make sure you feel and see if you got your billfold with you haha.
I was up in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg the last 4 days for one of my son's wedding. Love the area, but it was good to get back home to Florida yesterday evening. Not saying I would rule out moving back to TN sometime in the future, but I'm pretty content down here in Gulf Breeze/Navarre.
I am cracking up right now I live in Colorado Springs and I’m like why isn’t my shark vacuum cleaner work is a good and it’s making this really high-pitched sound turn the vacuum cleaner up turnover and I have to cut the hair out of the vacuum cleaner. I hear you sister lol.
My California annual property taxes on my 1700 s/f coastal house 1 mile from the beach are $7500, which includes about $1000 in special funds for education. I bought 10 years ago for $1/2-million, now worth 2-3X that.
Our electric bill for September was $477.00, 2,600 sq ft house, thermostat set at 68 degrees at night, set at 78 during the day. Our property taxes are $2,600 and frozen from age 65 to as long as you reside in the home. about 50% less than homes not owned and occupied by a senior. Lawn maintenance is $40 per week from Mar to Nov, and $40 every other week in Dec, Jan & Feb. Thanks for another great show.
Here in MIssouri my county passed a bill where you can freeze your property tax rate once you reach 62. It goes into effect this March, so I’ll be online signing up for that! Lol!! Love your shows and greatly appreciate you both - your shows are never “too long” for me! ❤
In FL, people over 65 who have owned their home for 25 years or more can apply for a senior exemption on paying property tax. There is an income requirement as well. I haven’t been in my home long enough to see if I qualify-need a few more years!
Our property tax bill increase is limited to 1-2%/year in California for the entire time you own your home. This makes sense since your neighbor selling their house for a bundle puts no money in your pocket. And it makes it easy for people to stay in their homes and retire in place. But that reduces the number of available houses which drives up house prices.
I wanted to ask Jerry about the blue light treatment he had? I wondered how much it. As my daughters dr was talking about it and she didn’t think her insurance covered it.
We adore Wolfy’s and thought they had closed permanently but glad to hear it is still open! We liked The Breakfast Station too! Don’t like the time change but we love Mailbag Monday’s. We can’t wait for Clermont’s Costco which open 11/14!!!! Yeah!‼️
Been watching you for a while now and love your show! Finally realized that the timing of when you drop the show coincides with my subway ride to work, what a great way to start my Monday morning. Thanks for an always informative and humorous show, you guys are great!
Oh, you guys are killing me !! Linda with the cleaning of the vacuum - Beyond hilarious! Do you realize how entertaining & funny your videos are?? Seriously!! My electric bill in S CA. was $95.00 for a tiny 900 sq. ft. condo, so I'm impressed with your price & sharing info. Love your weekly shows SO much & please keep up the excellent videos!!💞 ❤
Hi Jerry and Linda. I am very interested in The Villages. I am 57 currently, my wife is 52. We would not be retiring and looking for our retirement home for another 6-8 years. Couple questions for you: 1) our son may be living with us for a few years - he will be 19-21 years old, I heard that is not a problem, but would like to confirm. He is an only-child and as you can see, we had him later in our lives and as a result, he associates and socializes well with older adults, always has. 2) is there an opportunity for us to rent a home in The Villages for a longer period, say 2 months, to get a feel for The Villages, the social events, neighbors, etc, before we make the decision to buy.
loved the ride on Thurs...love everything you do!! Your costumes were great. SUGGESTION: Jerry you mentioned you cannot get the Vaseline completely out of your hair. Have you worked cornstarch through you hair? So., you will work it through. Let it on at least 30 minutes. It will absorb the oils. You might have to a couple times, but, it worked for me when I was a toddler. Good luck!❤️🤗
Have y'all ever done a day trip over to The World Equestrian Center in Ocala? It's beautiful, especially now that it's decorated for the Holiday season! My grand daughter will be showing Western Pleasure over Thanksgiving. Nothing better than horses and twinkle lights!! Taxes aren't overly bad in Tifton GA. Love your show!
Another great show. I have a Shark and love it to. I better clean my brushes out soon! Thank you both for all your hard work. Looking forward to Thursday at Costco. ❤
This is about what I pay for electric in Michigan. I cool 1,258 sq. ft of a 1982 built condo but I also run two dehumidifiers and three air purifiers 24/7.
Our home is totally electric here in TV, our electric bill was around $90. We did install a new A/C and refrigerator which lowered our power use. We are unusual people we are NUTS, go Buckeyes! LOL
Hi, I'm AA and I absolutely love your shows. I dont see any poc in your community videos, but seems like a fun place to live. Are there any AA in your community. My husband and I are in our 80s/70s and looking for a relaxing Sr community in Florida. Right now we live in Jacksonville and thinking of relocating.
My husband was so full of himself after he had the chance to give both of you a high-five at Gators last week. He is a devoted follower. Thank you for all of the great information. You do a fantastic job. Janis Creason
Love the story about the vacuum cleaner. I have very long hair and got tired of cleaning the brush every time I vacuumed. So, I got a Shark that has a bar to keep the hair from getting tangled in the brush. Saves so much time!! Love your show, never miss a minute!!❤️
Until home prices decrease along with a decrease in insurance and taxes, I will not purchase in TV. Even car insurance is double compared to the mid west.
We stock our freezer up and fill the fridge with cans then leave it running. If the electric goes and its full of cold product this will help keep the fridge cool for longer. Also a full fridge is cheaper to run. We do have someone who checks on a VERY regular basis. NOTE - we do empty out the freezer cub box as that could flood. THe other advantage of a full freezer is that when we get in late at night there's always food/milk for tea/coffee next morning.
Jer-E get you some Head and Shoulders, shampoo twice. Itz a hair stripper 😊.. or Prell (if that's still a thing) or Dawn dish detergent!! Haven't said much lately but I've watched them all.. by the by, I loved the bird whistle.. that waz a spontaneous fun moment! Sweet Linda, you are precious ❤️! Good to see you guyzzzz!!😊 ps, turns out, one of my friendz mom lives in the Villagez!!
I remember using vaseline in my sons hair many years ago, when he was 8 or so. He wanted to be Fonzie and I needed something to slick his hair back. It took days, to get that out of his hair! I laughed so hard when you shared. Thank you for sharing...an excellent start to my week, as always. God bless.
Wow, that is a great tax bill! We live in DeLuna (snowbirds) but our tax bill is more than twice yours!! (But half what we pay in NY, so there’s that). Love your show!
I'm in Connecticut. Yes I'd trade you Tax bills are HIGH (Through the roof!) Here's the deal on the trade. You live where the tax bill is. My bags are packed, say when. LOL.
We have a bag that attaches to our golf bag holder on the back. It works great. You can see It on our Amazon store front through our webpage. jerryandlinda.com
Enjoyed the questions and answers today, Jerry and Linda. Taxes and electric bills are reasonable here in Florida thank goodness. Hey, Jerry, the scramble is stumping me today.
Thanks for another great show. I feel for Linda. I have a Dyson Animal, the only animal in my house is me. When you hair is 30 inches long it really gets wound around the brush and has to be cut off. Linda and I can start a wig business.
Thank you Jerry and Linda. Very good information as always. We plan to go this spring for a lifestyle visit and hopefully we will be living there in about a year when I retire.
I occasionally watch your videos from Houston. I have too say your attitudes are wonderful, friendly, down to earth, honest and uplifting. You both are a hurricane of fresh air and good tidings.
Hi Jerry & Linda, A very nice upscale restaurant which has a dress code is "The Rose Plantation" in Fruitland Park. Their website gives you the details regarding dress code. Love your show.
Oh Linda, I have the same vacuum AND the same problem with my long blonde hair!!! It seems to be never ending!!! I did buy the new Shark that doesn't allow the hair to get caught on the roller........TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!! (Our taxes just went up to 10k, when we move there EVEN with the monthly payment, the electric, the grass, the pool......I'll STILL be saving money!!!) see ya when we get there!!!
Look, you spend a lot more to get a lot less to be in a warm environment This allows you to drink, play golf and enjoy the night life with people your age. Its expensive. If this sounds good to you then go for it!
Hi Jerry & Linda . We don’t mind your long shoes most of the time it’s because it’s filled with great info. You always give me a perspective on houses that I don’t think about. ie those big corner lots that I love cost more in water, landscaping etc. Have a great week. God Bless those that served this Veterans Day
Refrigerators. We have a boat in WA with two refrigerators One full size with freezer under, one bar and one stand alone ice maker. The boat is left from November to May and July to September each year. We clean the refrigerators and freezer before we leave then leave the doors open. Never had any mold or damage. Been doing this since 2000.
Jerr, I don’t think that that writer who asked about the white linen tablecloths, is worried about spending a little money if he likes that lavish lifestyle!! That’s just what I got from his question anyway!!
Great show. 💕 Al has gel next time you need it. 😂 The couple dressed as you and Linda was to cute. Still learning from you. We need to change our GA will to a FL trust. Will reach out to your attorney. We’ve been to Wolfies and it’s good but we like The Breakfast Station in Leasburg better for breakfast. Nothing beats the pancakes at Keke’s on 441!
Hi Jerry and Linda! You never have to worry about making your videos too long, keep them coming! I increase the playback speed for all your videos and play it at 1.75x speed so your videos are never too long for me. The only problem is if I ever meet you in person, I'll wonder why you're talking so slow. 😂
Hi Jerry & Linda, we love watching your shows! My husband Cliff and I are coming to TV for our lifestyle visit next week and we can't wait. Hopefully we "see you when we get there" 🤩
Linda, you need to get a little man in to do some of your chores. lol I am sure if there was a contest for pounds of hair cleaning out of a vacuum you would win hands down. 😂
Thank you Angela! We don't sell them come up but a local store does. There is the link to the website: www.customapparelthevillages.com/the-adventures-of-jerry-linda
This is more geared towards your viewers who may still be working...at many companies this is open enrollment for 2024 insurance & benefit plans. Are your beneficiaries up to date for your employer paid life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment policy & your 401K plan? Also, are your beneficiaries up to date for your IRA & life insurance you purchased on your own? Something to take action on as needed.
Thanks for showing your Electric Bill. You guys used 974 kilowatt-hours (KWH) over 30 days for $121.59. That's roughly 12.5 cents per kwh. Ours in the NYC area is double that at about 24 cents per kwh. Yours is definitely a bargain.
In northern California, PG&E, we're paying 53.2 cents during Peak times and 44.9 cents during Off Peak time. Thank goodness we have solar. Can't wait to move to The Villages.
cute couple - great humor - just an advice Linda -you have beautiful hair but comb your hair outside - that is what I do - just take your hair brush and comb your hair out in the sunshine - there will be less hair in your abode
I would never want to live by a pond in florida. Gators !!! Your property taxes are lower than where I live. In Illinois, you will pay much more and it depends on your home. In this region you will pay between $4,400 - $5,200 per year. I am speaking about this region. Since Covid our home just from $200K to $470K , where before 2020, you could buy a used home at a reasonable price , not anymore !!!! Everything sky high here .
