WHO AM I?
Hi! I’m Shaneen Megji. It seems my whole life has prepared me to do the work I am so passionate about today. Let’s just say I had to swim in narcissistic waters for many years, in workplace scenarios, in my previous faith as a Muslim, in friendships, and even in the church. God truly doesn’t waste anything. Each and every experience and all the studies I have done help me in my passion to set people free from the bondage and oppression of narcissistic relationships, to help survivors of such pain regain their authentic selves and their hope in God’s good plans for them, and to re-educate the church around toxic leadership.

Prayer changes US. My experience is that the change happened inside of me and not her. Always pray but don’t think prayer will change someone who refuses to change or cannot see their need. I remember very distinctly praying for her while on my face laying in the gravel, and God told me to get up. He told me she is refusing and now it’s time to man up and take care of myself and my son. It’s not just about praying but also listening. 🙂

I prayed fervently for nearly forty years for my narcissistic husband. I Fasted many times. I did not understand what narcissism was until the last few years of the marriage, but I knew I was dealing with something sinister and evil. He had many encounters with the Lord, cried tears of repentance, and could convincingly “talk the talk.” However there was never any real change, it was mostly emotions and talk. The harder I prayed , the worse he got. During my times of fasting all hell would break loose. I finally had to end the marriage to save myself from destruction. Getting out was a whole new level of hell. I still hope that God will change him but I rarely pray for him anymore.

You know I think I'm going to try that. I've been doing a lot of praying and meditation while talking to him while I'm out on long walks or driving places. I feel much lighter after my conversation with him is done. Of course, my conversation with him is never truly done. I just have to postpone until next time. Wondering what my purpose is in life, why I'm here, etc. You know all those ponderances of existence. From now on I'm going to pray with intent, as always, but ask God to surprise me.

My experience has been that prayer alone won't change a narcissist. So I changed my prayer to God Change me. I had to choose to see my identity in Christ, I had to start setting and holding boundaries. I had to enforce consequences when they were abusive, manipulative, and disrespectful. When it's your mother, and you're her full-time caregiver, it's extremely challenging. My mothers behaviour towards me changed dramatically in the last year, and there was some healing, but I never trusted her knowing that in the right circumstances, she would go back to making me the punching bag and scapegoat. She's gone now, she died suddenly 7 weeks ago, so now I'm in the restructuring stage, trying to figure out what's next with God's help. I don't regret choosing to care for her, ( and by default be abused ) because I know that I was obedient to The Lord, and I was a powerful testimonial of God's grace.

I’d say we just can’t focus on this. God can change anyone but please don’t pray and sit around waiting for a narcissist to change. You can pray they get help but keep that distance and stay no contact as you still deserve more.

At this point I just pray for the discernment to see better and for God to heal, because I never really knew about narcissism until last year, but now I realize how many people have NPD versus narcissistic traits or tendencies. They do a lot of damage. It’s left to their friends, family and co-workers to pick up the pieces of their lives. The robbery is that the reasonable safety you felt before in connecting with people feels like it’s never going to come back - that’s the robbery. That ability to connect with people who will reciprocate good treatment. I’m amazed at how many narcissists are in churches and leadership positions. It shatters something that only God can put back together. They seem to be totally oblivious to the damage.
@John-N797
@John-N797 10 месяцев назад
There are things that God has given man authority over. Everyone has been given free will and only them can decide what to do with it. Prayer may encourage and the Spirit of God may urge but ultimately everyone must make a choice either to reject or genuinely follow God. A narcissist will "follow" God for different motives other than true salvation. They will go through the motions and even deceive the true worshippers but their actions and speech remain very evil and unpredictable which is very confusing to genuine believers. If a narcissist can be changed by prayer, let God change them but remain very far from them.Its not our business to change a narcissist.

Well said. From my experiences, God knows my heart as well as theirs. As you said He does not force anyone to change. I DO believe He gives them the opportunity, but since their conscience is seared with a hot iron, they do not surrender to the Lord. Also, from my experiences, prayer has helped to get them to stop harassing me, but again, they do not surrender to Jesus. Instead they go on harassing others continuing in their evil ways. One in particular I remember God told me to stop praying for that person (to give their life to Him and be saved), so I did.

I totally agree with you ,about what the bible says in regards to assisting a narcissist with prayer, and they would have to be willing in that process in order to receive Gods blessing, well the only problem with that, is denial, most narcissists are liars, so they have a major problem with telling the truth, and in the bible God says if you choose to believe a lie then he would grant you that , and give you over to a reprobate mind.

I am living a holy life (still human and do make mistakes). I went to the front of house and I spoke against all spirits behind narcissism and command them not to gointo my house again. It stopped, but what was worse is that God showed me the narcistic trades in myself and I was able to deal with that. I prayed for years for certain problems, but never knew that there were spirits behind it. Thankyou for your insights regarding narcissism. A lot of prayer and believing and hoping did help

Thanks for sharing. It is true that transformation doesn't just happen overnight or in an instant. The Bible is clear that there is a process involved in transformation, "Be transformed by the renewing of your minds..." and "Work our your salvation with fear and trembling..." Even the individuals who had an encounter with God in the Bible still had to choose how they would conduct themselves going forward after that encounter.

Thank you Shaneen as the Holy Spirit use you to put in greater perspective for us as Christian's struggling with some answers about narcissism. I was married to a born again Christian that was so gifted in being a teacher about scripture and being married 4 times that I believed that God could use him in this area of his life to heal others. In a word, no, prayer does not work for the narcissist. I'm a Christian believer with genuine desire to walk with Christ and have seen answered prayer in my life. I was married to a "Christian" who was a textbook narcissist (I tend to say he WROTE the book) who over the years got WORSE despite much prayer for him - and I finally left with my sanity barely intact. Yes, it's ultimately up to the person being prayed for to respond to God's promptings. My ex ignored all of God's promptings.

A well known Psychiatrist, Scott M Peck, who believes Narcissism and evil are intertwined. And in his book “People of the Lie” gives an example on this subject. He was asked to be present during two exorcisms as a Doctor and witness. At the conclusion of both of these grueling and exhausting events, he noticed a similarity between the two successful exorcisms: It wasn’t the Exorcists prayers that drove the demon out. It was when the possessed was ready, begged and asked Christ to save and heal him from this possession, is when the Demon(s) left. So, true prayer helps and is a must…… but the person whether a Narcissist or demon possessed, it’s when they ask and want change does change occur. Amen😌

I read Peck's second book, and he really goes off the deep end. It was many years ago that I read it, but I remember being kind of creeped out by him. As far as the exorcisms, I wonder they were via a Catholic priest? If so, I might doubt that these were real exorcisms. When Jesus cast out demons, the Bible never says that the people themselves cried out to him for deliverance or that he only cast them out of willing people.

About four or five weeks ago I discovered I'm a covert narcissist. I've told a few people online and they don't believe me. Obviously. 'cause I've been trying to live the way God wants, since I'm a christian. And now I feel like I'm lost. I look too insecure to be a narcissist, so nobody would acknowledge it if I would claim to be a narcissist. The only reason I've behaved 'normal' was because I didn't want others to find out and because I know God is watching. But deep down I can't take criticism and want to be rude when I get criticized, I don't feel thankful, I don't have any remorse, I don't love God, I'm faking empathy and love and I think 95% people are bad and annoying and I'm not interested in them. But the thing that made me realize I'm a narcissist is that I constantly crave for attention. I need validation, confirmation, attention, pity. And I'm very aware of the fact that that is not good, so I've been trying to hide it. I've been controlling it. But I tell each person exactly the thing that gives me what I need. There's no true me. What I mean is... if I meet new people, I wouldn't know how to behave, because I don't know what I can say or do to make them give me what I need. Whether it's admiration, attention, confirmation or attention. It has always been this way, but it has developed very slowly and it wasn't even deliberately. I don't understand myself. I believe God can do the impossible. But it's like there is no real me if God would cut away all the narcissistic traits. This makes it hard to believe God can give me a personality. But I wanna believe that. I don't want to be an empty shell for the rest of my life. I believe Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again on the third day to restore the relationship of us with God. But I've never seen any fruit in my life. Every time I did something good, I did it because I had to or I did it with pride or I did it because I feared the reaction of others. Please pray for me. I don't want to go to hell. And maybe that's even a bad motivation. But I also just want to be able to love God and love other people.

i have used prayer and led to learn about grey rock, boundaries (solid like living in my room), if he was a pain i didn't cook. i told him to leave me alone when i was in the kitchen. i was very hard and it was very lonely for over 2 years. Slowly he got used to talking to me nicely or else and both of us to each other. talking just about logistics etc. not deep but better than losing the roof over our heads. Maybe he only had narc behaviours but he seemed nasty as hell to me back then. 17yrs. could say wasted, or could say starting again would have been no better and with my body i don't think i could have done very well single. about 2 years later a friend visited and prayed a black thing would come out of my hubby and not long after he gave up alcohol. I reckon adopt and attitude of 'come at me properly or don't come at me at all' and if it's physical violence don't hesistate to separate. But i also had a friend who got past even that, though it was her who nearly killed him because she hit him over the head when he was being a pain. they had a good last 8 years then he died.

My recent encounter with a fellow Christian narcissist made me think only an exorcist could help him. But he would never do that. The satanic one who possesses him would never allow him to do that. And there have been vital deficits in his childhood development at the hands of a parent or other caregiver. This narcissist is a practising Christian and plays a prominent role in the liturgy. It is a puzzle to me.

I left the Narc in gods hands because mine were chopped off to many times by the Narc. They are hell bent on destroying anything good in their lives and running to the worst things you could imagine and calling it good. I left to save myself from the destruction she love to create.After decades with her I’m numb to any feelings for her.

Yes, since we know that prayer doesn't change unless a person realizes, but in a marriage, living all your life with a narcissist is... I don't understand

I need a little bit of understanding in this. Everytime I pray in front of my mother, she tells me "why are you caring crazy" here we go with your craziness again, like she says that I am mentally ill when I do that. And smears me. And says really deeply hurtful and shameful things, deeply shames me, while clearly showing that she knows and understands that I am praying. And it causes so much hurt and I feel afraid to pray before her. What us beneath the surface? And it's the same and ever more harmful when I am found sharing Jesus with anyone. It's freaking me out. I rarely share my faith these days, even if I do, I just stop when my parents come. Like automatically.

I would like to know 1) if there is a difference between narcissism and demonic 🤔 and if the nrc. is aware that they are being possessed. 2) if deliverance is possible for narcissism. and 3) do they have to agree to be delivered.

Ultimately they need to choose if they are going to embark on the path to change. It's possible for a person to choose to accept Christ, yet hold on to their narcissism and remain unchanged.

@@ShaneenMegjiNo. A genuine born again person just CANNOT remain WITHOUT fruit of the Spirit who dwells inside of them.

@corinnaschutt4229 - Absolutely, it's crucial to consider both the transformative power of accepting Christ and the role of free will and choice. Just like in the parable of the sower, where the seed falls on different types of soil, individuals who accept Christ may respond differently. Some may embrace the teachings and bear the fruits of the Spirit, while others may choose to resist change and remain unchanged. The parable serves as a powerful reminder that the decision to cultivate spiritual growth ultimately rests with each person.

Churches are full of narcissists. My ex boyfriend has been a devout Christian for 70 yrs & attends church, has Christian prayers, crosses, etc in his home, but he doesn't read the bible. He is a Christian in name only. I still pray for him & his children. I do believe he & I were brought together by God (long story). He was the third narc relationship. I hadn't grieved the loss of my divorce from a 20 yr marriage that my narc MIL ruined yrs earlier. I have since grieved due to that relationship 20 yrs later. My (prodigal) only child, 38 yr old daughter married a narc. While I endured chemo, radiation & 21 surgeries, my son in law kept my daughter & my grandchildren from seeing me. I was in hospital for 2 1/2 months, no visitors. I remember turning to look out the window, it started snowing (Christmas) & I felt the tears flow. Feeling abandoned & feeling sorry for myself, I felt God speak to my heart, "the Apostle Paul was beaten, chained in a cave, but he still sang praises to Me". I wiped my tears & I have drawn so much closer & stronger in my faith. I believe God allows narcs in our lives for His Will & for His Purpose & for His Glory. 🙏 I believe there are narc pastors, priests & elders.....they are human. At 60 yrs old, I may be single for the rest of my life, but I'm healing from the past & looking forward to what God has planned for me. 😊 Continue to pray for the church. Praying for revival. 🙏 God Bless everyone. 🕊 Stay safe!!

@@Corinna_Schuett_GER bearing fruit is our duty. It just doesn't come out just because we have fruits of the Spirit. Every born again believer knows that kindness is fruit of Spirit. But then how many use it or let it come out despite knowing what it is and how it must be used or where it must be used and when it must be used ....????

The Law of Freewill is the supreme law of the universe. We can pray for removal of negative energies, demons or whatsoever barriers so the ones we pray for, actually operate from a true place of their aunthentic Freewill. Also, realize rach person has their own cross to carry. Our prayers for others, have benefits that necessarily might not be observable to the one/s praying. Ultimately, as Jesus said, one must strictly focus on removing the beam within one's own eye.

praying for a narcissist is almost like willing them to change, and that will not happen, unless God wills it. I think neutral prayer and surrender to God's will and judgement is best. When you pray for a narcissist it does bring up feelings of cognitive dissonance, as you have already been traumatised by that relationship.

Would you say narcissists even have a divine soul? For my own experience with one narcissist, I would have say she didn't have proper connection with the heart, or soul for this matter.. Not able of empathy, not able of true love. That's what I felt. Also you encounter lots of people relating narcissists (i mean rather perverse narcissist in french, i e psychopath maybe in english) with "person without a soul" or "entity without a soul". Would you treat this topic in one of your video? Thanks

Hey. I recently discovered I'm a covert narcissist and this is exactly how I feel. Empty, not having a soul, 'cause it's like there is no real me. That's why I find it so hard to believe God can change me. 'cause every word and sentence I say is focussed on getting from others what I need emotionally. So these words and sentences depend on the person I meet. So what would be left if God cut out all the narcissistic traits? I'm afraid there is nothing. He would have to give me a new personality, I think. Or maybe something went wrong early in my childhood and He would have to restore it.

I am well aware from experience that a narcissist is toxic to say the least, but why do so called Christians show no empathy to the narcissist,? After all, something has caused them to be how they are. A narcissist Christian is an unwell Christian, not a reprobate in my opinion
