A local Australian flower farmer just did a RainPoint video as well - Noble Flowers. She had a fancy rain gauge, soil wetness probe and pressure tester as well.
Completely agree and dry soil will wick away moisture from the soil you have wetted leaving your plants drying out more quickly. I lightly sprinkle/dampen the soil in my garden and then I water. I find it breaks the soils resistance to absorb the water and I have less run off. I guess that is kinda like pulse watering in a way.
I’ve caved in to irrigation, i just don’t get enough summer rains. Drip is water conserving and works for most llants, but i do surface water also. I’ve seen plants perk up 1rter surface water much raster than deep watering

Hi Sarah, great video as always. I was in the fence and I didnt think over head was good, one pollen goes to ground, two blight and fugal problem may happen and three saves water. So I went for drip irrigation every 30cm and put in bluetooth app timer and now does it 8am and 5pm and all automatically does it every day. My results have been fantastic as waters my fruit bushes and trees and whole garden.
What system do you use please? I have a new me garden and everything is on its first year so watering is a must but I am lots with all the different types
