I feel like you should only lose health when you have control of Mario, otherwise it's just absurd.

I think it would have been reasonable to stop the decreasing health at moments Mario can’t move, or at least during text boxes. That alone might have made the difference for a bowser fight or two

it’s crazy, someone who plays so much doesn’t realise u can spam the heart to heal over time, and it heals as long as it’s moving. could’ve easily abused it to do bowser

Imagine marios fate... basically suffocating at all times and everywhere. Only when sticking out of water he can basically breath.

This mod really emphasized coin, heart, and lives knowledge and clean skillful creative play. Most annoying aspect is probably death warping in states to avoid having to go out of the castle. Cool challenge.

fire sea isn’t impossible at all, the heart near the warp regenerated your health proportionately to how fast you move through it. just build up hyperspeed lol ez

Nice run. I wonder if going immediately for the 100 coin star and then the 8 coin star every time you enter a new level would be a good strat, since you’re guaranteed two 1-Ups after exiting, and since the stars are so coin-based it’s unlikely you’ll ever go that long without healing.

Why didnt he tweak it so you dont loose health while the cutscene like situations like dooropening or bowser talking etc. Feels more simple then changing the loosing rate at some points

26:58 there is a bug in this game that this heart healing thing last a lot of time... i saw an explanation in some video , i cant remember wichone, but basically, the health of mario, is not an value from 0 to 8, but from... 0 to 65536 or something like that. the heart recover a lot of heart each frame for an certain ammount of frames, that is why the heart can recover you even after the health reach 100% (number of frames that it take effect) sometimes mario counter show 0 hp, but the real number is not 0 yet, so he is not dead yet.

This has got to be one of the best video on your channel! I really enjoyed the new kind of strategies this forced you to develope. The challenge might have been completable if only the cut-scenes wouldn't damage - certainly would have helped a lot with the excruciating life-farming :D I also really enjoyed the Sonic 64 and Mario the Hedgehog (sorry that idk the actual name, lol) hacks! Has anyone ever considered putting Link from Ocarina of Time instead of Mario?
