You bought a bike with a high expectation of performance. All of that performance ends up at the contact patch of your tires. Period. If you run your tires until their toast you're getting garbage value for the performance you paid for. My opinion of course.
@sanchezable
@sanchezable 3 года назад
@@singlehackenduro8877 I keep my bike maintained. But i don’t remove 70% good tires just to update the brand. I’m not riding that hard. Of course when it’s time it’s time but I maximize my tires and that gives me a good value.

Everybody talking about how you need to get the most performance out of your bike with your tires, when nobody here is good enough of a rider to be about to use that little amount of power that tires give you. May I preach rider not the tire/bike!
@njmxjunkie3128
@njmxjunkie3128 3 года назад
@@singlehackenduro8877 absolutely running your tires bald is losing performance, however I do a lot of trail riding and some road riding, I also have a 280lb enduro so I’m not riding motor cross or extreme enduro, I’ll take the loss in performance and enjoy those fresh tires when I can! The tires I put on my bike are mostly race take offs, so I end up with great tires that have a few races max on them. The geo Max’s I’m putting on next are next to new, and when they cost 100$ each new and they cost me nothing I’ll take it... I’ll cut them sharp again sometimes too

This is such a good approach. I've watched so many bike reviews (from other authors) that quickly degenerate into differences in OEM tires and OEM spring rates, which are nearly irrelevant.

I'm on my first IRC VE33S Gekkota and, even though it's not a 120 width tire, I absolutely love it. I run it with Tubliss at 8psi. I have about 210 miles on it now, including a very rocky race, and it still has tons of life left. I've run Goldentyre, Maxxis, Kenda, Dunlop, Shinko cheaters, Motoz, and Pirelli. Only one tire has ever been better (GT523KX) than the VE33S but it hasn't been available for about three years now. For the front I've been riding on the Goldentyre 90/100 fatty for some time now and it has become my go to front. It's tough, predictable, and soaks up the rocks better than any other tire I've run. I also run Tubliss on the fatty and vary between 11-12psi.

I'm rolling around w/ a Shinko front tire on a cr250 r, tire is a bit oversized, it works great for off road/ forest/ mud/slop/ greasy glop. It's a bit heavier, so not best for MX tracks & lots of airtime; but durable & bites good in the awful stuff.( Got a Michelin hardpack MX tire on rear, not great in sand & mud, but this is my best combo to ride & minimise flat tires, using inner tubes)

It's really amazing how it can be different regarding which country you live in. For example, here in France for offroad (for "Enduro", not "Motocross") 80% of us are riding with Metzeler ("Six days" version) and/or Michelin ("Enduro Medium" version) . Both are FIM approved tires -> We are not allowed to use motocross tires on road. In enduroGP championship it's kinda the same. Since your way of riding (trails / mountains etc) is more or less the same as what we call enduro, I'm really questionning myself: Does this difference comes from use, regulation, brand origin or smthg else.. + how do they compare to the ones you are using (I've never seen Gekkota tires here for instance) ?

Just because he has a YT channel does not mean he knows more than you. In fact, I bet he doesn't. The internet is full of mediocrity and irrationality, and unfortunately so is the sport today and the world. Just look at the "preferred" handlebar set up today,---like they all need foot clearance for freestyle tricks. Not one of them can explain the benefits of setting up ape hangers. We are entering a era of irrationality, and I thought dirt bikes would be the last to go stupid, but it is happening all at the same time in every industry,---in the world. This guy is evidence.

Nothing works well for such a variation of dirt. I can't wait to try the mew Dunlop MX14 for the sandy whooped out trails I love to ride, and take it easy on the hard ground spots. No other tire will hook up like that scoop tire on anything it can dig it paddle/knobs into. You did say "work well" didn't you? I take that literally. I have ridden a KTM 300 for the past 20 years across the SE USA with the M59 up front and like you said its a tire I can trust to perform whether in tight rooty clay or in sandy loam . The side knobs start to tear after about 60 hours of hard riding which can feel it as surprise stutter in bumpy turns so know its time to get a new one. I run regular duty tubes at 12.5-13.5 psi off road and 15 psi for dual sporting. It clears mud well and gives good to very good sharp bump absorption. Its expensive but a lot cheaper than a broken finger or wrist so I pay the premium for a great tire. I tried a couple other brands , taking them off after one long ride mostly due to excess deflection off roots and rocks. I got knob spitting after 20 hours on the great Kenda VE33 rear so switched to Kenda Millville 2 which can flip direction depending on terrain and its pretty durable . Never spit a knob on it .

The irc is a great preforming tire, for the first couple to few rides. But I was really disappointed with the durability, and tread life. I know it's a gummy tire, and I didn't expect it to last too long, but I was surprised at how quick it wore out. Middle knobbies non existent after maybe 15 to 20 hours. And the terrain i ride isn't extremely hard or rocky either. Initially it probably had the best traction out of any tire I've road, but the trade off in durability isn't worth it for me.

Hey, thanks for asking me but you spelt my name wrong. The tyres on my bike are still the original 1970's tyres. They don't make tyres like that anymore.

Choices? My ‘82 Husky has a 17” rear wheel. Unless I want to run dual sport, I’ve only been able to find 1 tire to fit (IRC VE33, not the s). Tubliss isn’t available in 17”, either. Perhaps you could flex your influencer muscles and put in a word... There should be a market for the dual sport adventure riders, right? When I need a new front tire, I will be trying that M59.
@dreyn7780
@dreyn7780 3 года назад
Where did you get the impression 'adventure' from. That's not in the design. 2 SPORTS, NO adventure bike. The video maker is too cheap to get the adventure bike invented by a designer.
@f5tornadeau
@f5tornadeau 3 года назад
@@dreyn7780 the f... are you on about? Dual sport bikes are also called adventure bikes (not just me, see link at end for cycleworld article). Watch those Ewan McGregor movies. Riding on and off road around the world isn’t an adventure? Whatever, troll. I’m sure there are plenty of guys who ride on and off road who would like to air down their tires when going on trails, and tubliss doesn’t offer a 17” option, which is a shame. www.cycleworld.com/dual-sport-adventure-motorcycles/

The m59 is by far my favorite front tire. I did two rides on a shinko 546 and hated it. Ordered the m59 and have been very happy with it. I doubt I’ll try another front as long as they make the m59.

Does it enhance wheelspin in corners?
@CrashHardEnduro
@CrashHardEnduro 3 года назад
@@dreyn7780 it’s the front tire, so i guess the only effect it has on wheel spin is, i can come out of corners pretty hard with out feel like the front is going to push or wash out on me.
@dreyn7780
@dreyn7780 3 года назад
@@CrashHardEnduro you have a legitimate problem with the bike’s performance. But it’s caused by single wheel drive. You need an all wheel drive bike.
@CrashHardEnduro
@CrashHardEnduro 3 года назад
@@dreyn7780 yeah I think we got our wires crossed. The m59 is the front and it never spins on me. It grips amazing and i haven’t had a problem with it feeling like it’s going to wash out on me. It’s very planted and confidence inspiring.

Hey thanks Luke but my name isn't Kyle. Hybrid smylbride. They're a bit like a chocolate cake. Too much chocolate, not enough chocolate. Why you not loyal to a brand? Dunlop gets 6 GRAND a tyre. Do you realize how much income that gives them? They don't have to make a dirt bike tyre at all.
