My first attempt at using the Lena cup (small size) resulted me panicking, laying down on a towel, while my husband had a spelunking adventure with his hand. 0/10 do not recommend...but now I know I have a high cervix. I once had to wipe his butt for him after he had brain surgery so now we're even.
It is shameful how long I have been meaning to make this video! I've made a few shorts about this but a full video was needed. Hope your experience ended without a trip to urgent care!
I’d like to put my two cents for someone who has reach issues. You’ll probably have reach issues if you notice your fingers are short and you have difficulty reaching over the pubic bone. You make also have reach issues if your arms are short and your torso is long, so it’s hard to stick your hand inside you to go digging a menstrual cup out. For me, it’s not an option to break the seal without pulling the cup out. There are some cups can work with my anatomy and others I won’t even try because I know. Riskier cups tend to be the cups where the suction is too great and they tend to also be the firmer cups that I feel them pop open when inserted. Softer cups are better with a loop for removal.
What cup do you recommend? I also have reach/grip issues, I have tried a few high cervix cups yet still end up struggling trying to pinch the base also hate how uncomfortable it is basically sticking my whole hand in there trying to get it out.
My favorite right now is viv for your v cup. It’s got a loop for easy removal. I may need to size up. But I’m not unhappy with size 1. I do use flex cup that has the pull tab, but it’s really only usable when my period is kind of light. But that to me has been high likelihood of cups getting too suctioned/stuck. Hello disc has been all time best. But I regret cutting off a loop, makes it harder to reach.
I cannot thank you enough. First time I decided to try it overnight because of worrying and getting used to it. Couldn't get it out in the morning, panicked. The video calmed me down. I used the first method, once I could I pinched to release the suction and it was all good. I did end up having to use a little bit of gentle lube but that's it. I'll keep practicing and thank you again.
Girls, trust me, I never even put on a tampon and I managed to use a cup pretty easily even if I wasn’t at all comfortable with my vaginal area and had never put anything there, but believe me, do a small fold instead of the C one, if you want to take it out, DON’T PANIC! Just push like you’re going to give birth, even if it doesn’t instantly work, just keep doing it, breathe in and out with your vagaegae until the stem’s reachable, once it’s there, don’t pull it out, just grip it, grip it firmly (the stem) so you’re reassured and KNOW it’s just there! Use your left hand to hold the end of the stem to keep the cup in place and prevent it from going back up and DO NOT, let it go, (you can pull with very slight pressure but not to remove the cup) then you gently very gently put your fingers at the entrance of your vagina, breathe, breathe, keep the stem in your other hand firmly, pinch the base, hard, you’ll hear a sound that indicates that the suction was broken, if not, glide a bit higher (do not let go of the stem) then pinch hard and bring it out.
I one time had this problem but with a disc after I kept it in during “vase cleaning”. It was so high up there, my long fingers couldn’t even reach it. It took a looooong frustrating, somewhat traumatizing time to finally get it out 😅😅 Video about lost discs please!!
I love that you use a lily cup for this video since that's what I use since I do have a high cervix. (Measured easily by following your videos!) I've only been using a cup for three cycles and getting it out is the thing that changes depending where I am in my cycle so far. Towards the end it's harder. I think you have to go a bit higher than you expect on the lily cup since the base feels more solid since it's longer and skinnier. That's my only complaint about it. I did try the hello disc to solve the removal issue which was easy to remove but still not for me. Going back to the lily cup after, I did notice I needed to get the cup down a bit, pinch higher up the cup, and (this might just be me) pull the cup forward, not down. It's soft enough so it bends and maybe breaks the seal better. Honestly not entirely sure but pulling it forward, I could feel it come out easier.
I had one in me for 7 days.i tried all the techniques RU-vid people share. Ha. It was the very last day of my period that I could not get it out so there was no blood luckily. The doctor said it was not breaking suction easily at all for them and there metal devices. I really wanted to love these, rave about these etc but there is no chance and instead I warn people and share the horror story I went through.
It’s 7:40 a.m. and i have been trying to get my salt cup out for a hour now. I can reach it but for the life of me, i cannot get the suction to give so that i can remove the cup. I’m taking another break to watch this video and hopefully not have to go through this another hour. I love everything about the cup but this has been a traumatic experience that i don’t think i can try again (2nd time trying this) 😢😢
Do kegels as if your life depends on it. I use a diva cup and the first time I used it I introduced my whole finger and couldn't find it. I reminded myself that it had to be inside and started the kegels. It was so fast to reach it. It was hard to break the suction 😅
I experienced this twice with the Honey pot size 1 and the tiny little Cora cup size 1 I already knew I have a giantly high cervix but I still tried these little cups because I was scared of the bigger cups I learned my lesson , I was wrestling to get those cups out of me , eventually I did with one finger clawing the cups out huffing and puffing
And Honey Pot size 1 is not a short cup! 😲 That is impressive. Longer cups with longer stems canal so come in smaller diameters in size, but you definitely want to match the length to your cervix height bc not being able to reach the cup is so scary!
@@PeriodNirvana the Honeypot size 1 was too small for me LOL Using the Cora cup size 1 was a bigger mistake, after I got over my fear of using bigger longer cups I went for the Juju cup model 3 And it was perfect! Much easier to remove but hard to put in because it's such a hard dense cup and I was leaking blood from it because it's too narrow, but now I've been using the Diva cup size 1 another perfect cup but I was still leaking blood so on my next period I'm going to try the Diva cup size 2 since it's a little wider at the top, hopefully I don't leak blood with this one fingers crossed 🤞
Thank goodness I've always been able to get mine out but it was close a couple of times. I ditched the cup and am living safe for the moment. I made my own pads while I'm learning about options and i think I will try the disc. I am in perimenopause and my cycles are every two weeks and look like homicide scenes! Anyone have advice? I am uninsured so I'm navigating all of this alone. 4 kids all c-sections. Thanks
i do asian squat, pull it out in bedroom it is more comfort than toilet, stil take 30-40mins to pull it out. but i still try next time period, it take time to learn.
I got a disc stuck once because the disc rotated and I couldn’t get the string. In the end I had to turn my hand to hook over the top of the rim. It was a mess but I got it out.
Is it normal that the seal won't break even though I'm pressing my WHOLE finger against it? Like, my cup is so stiff I cannot fold the rim at all in there, and I have to use an applicator because I can't keep it folded AND insert it at the same time 😩 I don't understand because yesterday the seal would break just fine, but today it's hell.
I did this but not my first time wearing bc I practiced while off my period which I was told to do to make it easier, my advice, and what I did was got into the shower but sitting in the tub & let the hot water just run on me for a while until I felt like I could fall asleep then I put my legs on the tub still laying down and pushed my butt (or squatting but against the tub) against the tub bending my legs, again still laying in the tub) and without tensing up or squeezing your vagina you’ll be able to feel the cup lower and if you can reach with ease go ahead and squeeze to break the suction & it will be easier to remove & you can also push like your going to poop & it will move the cup even further down and break the seal and pull it out, I recommend using the flex cup which breaks the suction for you and what just happened is proof your cervix is high, you can also have someone there in the bathroom telling you these steps so your not constantly looking at your phone and also stop telling yourself it’s stuck & not coming out bc it will bc it can’t go any further up past where it is bc you’ve reached the point of going any further up!!
I also want to mention why I had no issues when I tried off vs on my period, the days I wasn’t on my period my cervix was low so I had no issue reaching it & when I was on my period my cervix was super high!!
Is there a video for this when using a disc? I’ve been hovering on hitting buy for one and I have been wigged out about the idea of not being able to get it out
Hi. Anyone experiencing discomfort while using a disc? I've only used a Hello disc for 2 cycles but I kept coming back to my Fun cup size large because of the discomfort. The second cycle wasn't as bad as the first one. Is there any way to make it hurt less? I really want to use my Hello disc because sometimes I cannot reach my cup. For additional context, I can't use my Fun cup size small either because it is firmer.
I am afraid of feeling my cervix i tried but i fail just 1inch finger i enterd and finish feeling pain.... How can we get rid from pads and switch to menstrual cups or discs...
This morning I struggled for an hour to take out my cup. I was sweating and started panicking.. My cup experience is different each time. Some days I'm able to easily take it out but some days it's a nightmare. On top of all of this, trying to break the suction thingy is that my fingers are short and makes it even harder.. so I just do the gentle pushing thing and reach the base by squatting, pinch the base and take it out.. Taking out menstrual cup scares me but they're so comfortable🥲
