Ling cod wise the Mitchell's cove area just up the coast has octopus in the reefs. Really good ling fishing plus some higher quality rockfish in the mix
Do all of the halibut have the white dots on their dark sides? Looked like 12 or 14 white dots kind of lining their sides. I have only fished for them in Alaska and I don't remember them having the dots. Another exciting day of fishing, thank you for sharing! I paid attention and can see what you mean about the fish finder being on but after you found the bait balls, I think you would have caught the halibut without it :)
For some reason, it seems like this year there are way more halibut with white dots on the side. I really dont think that was common in previous years fishing, but this year almost all the halibut I caught had them... interesting!
I dont think that really matters, not sure what size it was but as long as its small it wil catch both. If you use a bigger one, you will only get the macs
No disrespect, but you're putting your treble hook in the wrong direction. The point of the hook should be facing forward, so when they bite from behind, they get the point. The way your putting it, they get the bend. Just my opinion.
