I own a Nissan 2015 Altima SV. No issues so far. Great mileage, comfy and good handling. It’s a good car for commuting. All those complaining about the pwr/trans, that it is a mid range sedan not a sports car.

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with almost 160,000 miles with no issues with CVT. In fact, I haven't even changed the CVT fluid since I first purchased the car back in 2013 and I know it's been overdue for a fluid change. So far, I haven't had any problems with the CVT. The car still drives like the day I've bought it. I'm very strict when it comes to maintenance. I keep the oil changed every 5,000-7,000 miles. I recently had the engine cleaned inside by doing a fuel induction at the dealer. My car still drives like a dream and still turns heads when I ride around. I don't know why you people hate on CVT. It's either you don't know how to drive it or don't know how to take care of it. The issues with CVT comes down how the driver drives it. Either abuse or neglect. Nissan already said it's only a few percentage of drivers complain about issues with the CVT look how many loyal customers Nissan has, almost the same out of loyal customers from Honda and Toyota. Just because Nissan has merged with Renault don't mean they are unreliable. Every part that you see under the hood of a Nissan is made by Nissan. Nissan is known as a good reliable company along with Honda and Toyota and you see why they are the 3rd most reliable car company out of the two and it always been 3rd forever. Customer satisfaction speaks for itself. I'm gonna keep driving my Sentra until the wheels fall off.

I've never had an issue with the CVTs, the remote start is great and the seats are comfortable and the car is roomy and gas mileage pretty good. I prefer the SVs, they are just enough and I actually like the cloth seats in them.

I had the 2015 3.5SL lease and that car was fast! Best seats I’ve ever sat in. Never had a relatability issue with the 45k miles. Wish I still had it. Now I have a 2017 Altima SR 2.5 and a 2018 Rogue SL. Yes they are loud on the highway, the tranny is pretty lousy, loud and slow.. But I haven’t had any reliability issues (24k sr and 10k rogue) with either and I think the seats (like all the reviewers) are the most comfortable in its class. I also had better lease quotes than other brands..

We've had a 2016 2.5S for 3 years putting almost 80K on it with no issues (long daily commute). We love the car and average 37-39 MPG, and were looking to upgrade to the 2019 SR in the near future. Well we just spent 150 miles in a loaner 2019 2.5 S while my car was getting some maintenance at the dealership and we may have changed our minds. The seats are uncomfortable compared to the previous "gravity" seats (new seats have no back support). Headrests lean too far forward pushing on the back of your head. Visibility in the rear is horrible, less leg room for front passenger, trunk lid is larger and much heavier requiring a lot more effort to open, the steering wheel is cheap plasticky feel which absorbs the cold in low temperatures. It drove nice, but we may test drive other brands now even though we may lost some MPG's.

I'm actually considering this car versus a GT500 S197 mustang 5.8L and a Camaro and decided on this car because it is more practical, provides supreme creature comfort, is a LOT cheaper, and gets an abundant more fuel economy. On top of that when you drive a high powered car, you ALWAYS get stuck behind a slow poke and it pisses you off how much $$ you wasted for a fast car when you have to deal with traffic :)

The Altima has very good acceleration, except from a stop. The Altima is a pig off the line. For normal day-to-day driving, it is fine. But consider the following (which is one of any number of reasons you might want better acceleration from a stop): If, for example, you are in the left lane at a light, and you realize that you need to make a right turn at the next light, then you can forget about getting ahead of the car to your right. No matter how hard you stomp on the gas, the Altima will take its time. Once it gets going at about 20 MPH, then it feels like it has a life. Perhaps Nissan feels it is a safety issue? Or maybe they feel it is better for fuel economy? Both? Something else? It might be the traction control, which you cannot disable. That issue was too much for me to overlook. If not for that issue, I would have purchased the SV style, which handles really good. I ended up buying an Accord Sport, which does have a bit of turbo lag, but it is still responsive from a dead stop (nothing great, but it is not a slug from the line). And the Accord has a button to turn off traction control (which I have not yet checked to see if it provides better off-the-line power -- the dealership said that I will experience wheel spin without traction control -- which I will assume is based on the driver's skill).

@@Mabeylater293 most of Toyota CVT is not belt, and the ones you are mention is only hybrid application. The only car Toyota have that use belt is the corolla. Unless you live in other part of the world. People like you maybe only drive cars in your country. But I have driven the Japanese honda fit and toyota vehicles with their belt CVT. It the worst. And their reliability is worst than nissan. I see you making comments with not understanding one thing you are saying. Toyota and honda cvt drive was so bad that they had to start programing set points in the CVT from 2009. And you can go FACT check that. Of course it improve driving and make it seems as toyota and honda have a better driving CVT than nissan. In 2014 nissan start to do the same. Toyota CVT was not so nice that they recently had to put in place a launch gear. Nissan nor Honda did not have to do that. While you can sit and talk about what you know about, is great but there is something you do not know which you should research or at least listen. Obviously you have seen honda and nissan using belt CVT, and other manufacture use jatco belt CVT but it never occur why toyota cannot use theirs and why other manufacture does not purchase asin CVT but they make them and sell them in other part of the world. But because you cannot see their failure rate you can only judge nissan cvt to be junk. Not to worry your toyota will keep their reliability rating with using regular transmission, unless they have improve on their CVT. But a lesson to you nissan did not only make belt cvt they also make roller bearing CVT the most reliable CVT , but cost to make them are expensive.

I look at the trade offs. With the turbo you only get a few more miles per gallon savings over the v-6 while gaining a ton of potential cost down the road when the car is out of warranty.And you have less horsepower than the v-6. Next,listen to his description of the lane departure feature where he says it "wants you to take back over driving after about 10 seconds". Which has me asking,what good does this feature(that helps drive up the cost of cars),what does it bring you???? a few seconds of hands free driving? I see this as another gadget on a car,that will wind up getting some folks killed by a moron letting the car self drive and it veers into other cars. It's like 19" tires that cost thru the roof to replace but give you less driving traction and comfort than say 17" tires which are already high. It's a generation of mindless folks getting giddy about features that do almost nothing but drive up the cost up front and later when they need fixing.stick to what works

A friend and his wife both owned Altima's . His CTV transmission died after 160K km's and his wife's car at around 100K km's leaked coolant thru the head gasket - by the time the engine light came on ( because there's no coolant guage ) the engine was toast. They both moved to Honda. His 2018 Accord has been trouble free but her 2018 Civic has been problematic. Go figure. The increased complexity of newer vehicles does not bode well for reliability. CVT and Turbo`s are not the solution.

I drive a '13 Altima. Honestly it is suprisingly reliable, but the driving experience is awful. Its uncomfortable because the power suddenly kicks in and jolts you around. Also, it's incredibly noisy at 3000rpm-4000rpm; like a weird droney noise.

Nissan makes the worst CVT Transmissions in the world. That is not hyperbole that is a fact. The average life span of a Nissan CVT Transmission is two and a half years or 35,000 miles. Do Not Buy an Altima. You have been warned!
@wiselinkmarque3947
@wiselinkmarque3947 5 лет назад
I'll buy one. some people get 80k out of their CVT. I don't see a problem with it. Toyota makes the best CVT in the world but theirs is all in house. I'm buying this car preowned some day so that will offset the cost of a CVT swap.
@theylied1776
@theylied1776 5 лет назад
@@wiselinkmarque3947 Then you obviously don't know anything about cars. Nissan has had to extend their warranty three times because of three different class action lawsuits relating to their CVT transmission. Nissan has been so hard hit they cut their production by 20% in 2018. That is what corporations do before they're forced into bankruptcy. That's what their managing partner Renault had to do in 1986 before they were run out of the United States.
@theylied1776
@theylied1776 5 лет назад
@@wiselinkmarque3947 The very fact you're comfortable with someone getting 80,000 miles out of a Nissan CVT shows that you don't drive very much. A Toyota Tundra recently got over One Million Miles with the same engine and transmission... so, only getting 80,000 miles on a Nissan is beyond sad.

@@theylied1776 Is that suppose to be an insult? well whatever, doesn't phase me :) Yes you are correct I don't drive much. My 2009 Mustang GT only has 32,000 original miles on it. If I get an altima, it will have even less than that in 10 years because I drive a company vehicle everywhere I go right now. This new Altima has a new CVT in it, it's a coin toss if it is good or not. I will still buy the car some day when I need it though. hey, at least it isn't a Honda or a Hyundai.
